To ask if amazon delivery is really taking until Fri 1 May?

Can anyone tell me if items ordered from Amazon are actually all going to be delivered on Friday 1 May as it seems to suggest, or if that's the latest possible date for delivery?
I've just ordered some learning aids for my boy because he's struggling without the ones he normally has at school, and realised after paying that it says delivery Fri 1 May. So if it really will take that long then I need to cancel and try to order from somewhere else.

I ordered three things Friday last week. One was due Wednesday, one today and one 24th April. Woke up to an email on Wednesday to say all three items would be delivered that day and they did

I ordered DD a CD for her birthday on Monday, that said end of April but it turned up Thursday.
Maybe its worse case scenario to cover them?

I ordered a load of stuff last weekend with a delivery date of April 23rd. It came on Tuesday. So I think they are just covering themselves.

The delivery date will probably be updated and it'll come much faster. I ordered a necessary but not urgent item last week, knowing that the delivery estimate was some time next month. It arrived within three days.

Things that are in stock are taking longer but only about 5 days.

That's pure crap. A DVD was delivered to me last weekend that's not essential.
To be clear it was a pre order before anyone had heard of covid 19 so I was shocked when it turned up.

Ordered some stuff last week that said mid to late April. Came within two to three days.

Ordered some things this week with a long date. Found it elsewhere quicker and was able to cancel Amazon orders no bother.

Some stuff has said 5th May but it was delivered just the other day so think it’s just an estimate

It also depends on which warehouse your item is in, as every item available on Amazon is not kept at each amazon centre.

I think it's an estimate, I ordered something and the date was end of April, but actually it came yesterday. So estimate doesn't always hold.

I've had three items be dispatched much sooner so that is good - before you ask yes they are all quarantine related but I am sure we will still all be indoors in May anyway.

I had one that was saying 1st May, placed Friday.

Checked this morning, it’s now coming Monday.

@Northernsoullover lol so did I once but needs must been disabled for a few years now and they have done me proud, Last year I nearly died and when I returned home I had to have a hospital bed in my dining room and a commode, and chair and lift. Had carer 4 times a day and physio 4 times a week. I live alone and stair to my front door which i could not use. So when I wanted to buy a present and card for my carer and my physio's amazon came to my rescue. Little guy who usually delivers to me knows me well and lets himself in via key safe and brings my parcels up to my hallway. overall they are all great the delivery people.

if i am out hospital appointments etc, they leave my parcel just inside my front door, so I never worry about missing them.

I ordered a couple of non-irgent items last week. Delivery dates were given for the coming week. They arrived next day. I think they are just giving a date as far into the future as they can to allow for delays caused by more people ordering more stuff and the fact that they may have drivers who need to self-isolate.

We ordered a fire stick on Thursday and it said due to delivery on Tuesday but it arrived yesterday
