To ask if amazon delivery is really taking until Fri 1 May?

Can anyone tell me if items ordered from Amazon are actually all going to be delivered on Friday 1 May as it seems to suggest, or if that's the latest possible date for delivery?
I've just ordered some learning aids for my boy because he's struggling without the ones he normally has at school, and realised after paying that it says delivery Fri 1 May. So if it really will take that long then I need to cancel and try to order from somewhere else.

Depends on what you order it tells you when you when it will be delivered. Ive ordered a few small bits and they came within a couple of days.

JemSynergy · 04/04/2020 00:21

I've cancelled my prime because everything I tired to order was either out of stock or not being delivered for weeks.

negomi90 · 04/04/2020 00:26

I ordered a speaker and a new saucepan this week. Speaker was due to arrive today, pan on the 29th of April.
They both arrived together.
Apparently the speaker is essential the cookware isn't. I think it was because I had an essential item so they came together but I wasn't expecting the pan when it came.

Amazon are usually pretty on point with delivery days unless it is coming via someone else. but have you thought of emailing or phoning the school to see if they can lend/give you some?

Madein1995 · 04/04/2020 00:44

I know it's ridiculous.

Maybe check back in a few days tho. I tried ordering son's colouring books last week (delivery said 7th May) so I thought bugger it and left it, went back on lady Tuesday and delivery changed to 7days. Which is still much later than usual next day delivery but better than 7th May. They're coming Tuesday

Madein1995 · 04/04/2020 00:45

Some not sons, I don't have a son

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/04/2020 00:55

They haven't taken the money out of my account yet for an item I ordered on Tuesday, but I have a delivery date. I ordered a Kindle

I ordered a new phone, as mine had died, fulfilled by Amazon Prime and it was delivered to my local sorting office the next day (Saturday). It was late to me but i still got it on the Tuesday.

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 01:00

Maybe the staff are getting sick so reducing capacity to deliver?

Wehttam · 04/04/2020 01:01

Also don’t be ordering non essential items, forcing delivery drivers to make unnecessary journeys for a bloody colouring book or something daft like that. Think about those workers!

SnipSnapPop · 04/04/2020 01:09

I sell on Amazon, they keep sending emails telling us to extend our shipment times incase deliveries dont arrive on time with everything going on. ...most sellers will extend it as long as they can because if the item arrives a day late Amazon will just refund customer out of our pocket & you loose the product too 😒

224as · 04/04/2020 01:17

I placed an order on Tuesday which said it would be delivered by April 21st, but it turned up today.

GrimDamnFanjo · 04/04/2020 01:19

I ordered some coffee logs for our fire and they were next day but then they were confirmed as 29 April .

peterlon1 · 04/04/2020 01:35

I bet most are still glad to be working my niece isn't being paid by her company while they are closed because it was a government directive. silly arses

peterlon1 · 04/04/2020 01:37

playing "State Of Survival" zombie apocalypse game quite apt under the circumstances lol

peterlon1 · 04/04/2020 01:43

ordered a grill for my sister she doesn't know it, but she has been struggling bending down to a silly low oven that has a grill at top of it, she has osteoarthritis and osteoporosis, on top of other immune deficiency issue family all have same. just so she can put it on her work surface and not have to bend down, she has got stuck once before and I had to drive the half hour to her house to help her. I don't want it happening at this time as we are both shielding.they say it will be with her tomorrow(now today) and no change as yet.only ordered yesterday(day before) lol

Rosebel · 04/04/2020 01:57

I ordered 2 things this week not essential and they arrived the next day. Although it did say they wouldn't be delivered until the end of next week. I think it must depend on how many essential orders they get and maybe on their route. If you need the things by a curtain date I wouldn't risk it.

Oldraver · 04/04/2020 09:39

I ordered a d last week and delivery was 20th April but it arrived a few days later

I just assumed they were being cautious with dates

Rockbird · 04/04/2020 09:46

Like others I've ordered things that had a May delivery date on them and they all arrived within the week. They're just covering themselves.

YouJustDoYou · 04/04/2020 09:47

I ordered pet food and it came in 4 days

insancerre · 04/04/2020 09:51

My order of wine was delivered a day early
Seems they are prioritising essential deliveries

Whoareyoudududu · 04/04/2020 09:53

They’re prioritising certain items for faster delivery but a month is a long time to wait unless the item is out of stock or coming from abroad.

Moondust001 · 04/04/2020 09:57

The husband of one of my staff works at Amazon. Most stuff - if it is in stock - is not taking that long. That date is a "safety valve" because they are prioritising delivery of certain items. I ordered something last week and it still arrived in 3 days (not Prime - standard delivery).

Ponoka7 · 04/04/2020 10:00

By law now they have to prioritise essential items. So in case there's a demand for such items, they are giving you a maximum delivery date. If tbere isn't a demand then you will get it as normal.

At the moment the Army is managing moving around what is needed and they will help with body removal etc, if needed. But Amazon is also a choice, if needed.
Everyone is on standby to see what the next two weeks bring.

When lock down started the Police wasn't just checking line distancing, they were making it clear to Managers that they are speaking to warehouses/transport to make it clear that essentials get priority and then DIY/Garden etc. But luckily there hasn't been any issues because there hasn't been the Staff sickness to interfere.

Socksey · 04/04/2020 10:02

Depending what you've ordered, it's always like that.... I frequently have stuff delivered next or even same day and then other items can take up to 6 weeks...

SudokuQueen · 04/04/2020 10:02

They are just covering their backs I think. My delivery said it would arrive by the end of April, it arrived the next day. Confused

You can't guarantee that though, that's the problem. If it's a highly sought after product, it will likely take longer. Mine wasnt something everyone is getting twitchy over.
