Delivery slots

eyesbiggerthanstomach · 01/04/2020 06:32

How are people managing to get online supermarket delivery slots?

I previously used Ocado, Sainsbury's and Tesco's.

Nothing available not even click and collect.

I'm staying at my mum's at the moment but will be going back to my house in a few weeks time permanently with my 2 year old toddler. No slots available even for 2-3 weeks times

I really don't want to leave the house with him. He has tantrums when is in the shopping trolley and I can't walk him as he won't observe social distancing and rolls around on the floor. I also don't want to risk getting ill and having to look after him alone.

No partner to help.

Any ideas on the best times to get the slots?

Priority booking as we have a smart pass.still have to queue but we are priority booking.

myfav · 02/04/2020 00:27

No idea, I'v been checking at random times as up feeding baby and can't get anything

dottydally · 02/04/2020 00:35

@darbs76 @purpleclownsuit not sure about the 2 slot limit. I have more than 2 weeks booked!

possumgoddess · 02/04/2020 00:42

I woke up just past midnight so thought I would try to get a click and collect slot. I got one! I also tried Sainsburys - completely booked up already - and Morrison's - can't even get into the website. I'm hoping we do actually get our shopping - it's not for 3 weeks and we will really need it by then.

Will tell you all a little secret. Many supermarkets open next day delivery slots around 4-4.30pm. Just keep checking and refreshing the page around that time. They only open those slots for a very short time to make sure people don't bulk book all the slots and leave others without. Managed to get a next day delivery with Tesco when checked at 4.12pm

Cookiedough123 · 02/04/2020 00:47

I happened to log in to tesco and get a slot for Friday! I couldn't believe it. You really need to keep checking multiple times a day. I have been checking every day but today I got lucky.

Cookiedough123 · 02/04/2020 00:48

Sorry will just add that that was at 2.45pm today! So completely random time!

Pugdoglife · 02/04/2020 00:55

We can't get a slot anywhere, we are in England, tried Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Morrisons, Iceland, all hours of day and night, absolutely nothing available, despite being registered on the government website after recieving the NHS letter confirming "vulnerable group" status.

And yet some people are having weekly deliveries from two different supermarkets so they are getting a delivery every few days.

Purpleclownsuit · 02/04/2020 01:43

@dottydally thanks dotty :) I think it is incorrect because I’ve managed to book another Tesco slot too now!

Bestbe · 02/04/2020 07:48

Is anyone in London getting a slot????

chocolateisavegetable · 02/04/2020 08:47

I looked on Iceland at some random time during the day on Tuesday and managed to get a slot for yesterday! I also stayed up until midnight the previous night and managed to get a Tesco delivery slot for 21st April. Morrison's food boxes are another alternative, although there are threads on here that suggest that they're not 100% reliable. As others have said, also worth checking if local shops are delivering.

Spamellahamella · 02/04/2020 08:50

I got a Tesco click and collect at 4am.

SpillTheTeaa · 02/04/2020 08:54

On Monday I got a slot for Iceland the next day and yesterday at about 3pm loads of Asda click and collects became available for next week

Petiolaris · 02/04/2020 08:59

Sainsbury, Waitrose and Iceland you have to be extremely vulnerable or elderly. Tesco releases slots at midnight, you just have to queue and pray. Small local shops are your best (expensive) bet.

Peppafrig · 02/04/2020 09:02

That's not entirely true if you are self isolating you can get a delivery from Iceland not just the vulnerable and the elderly .

CoraPirbright · 02/04/2020 09:06

I managed to get a Morrisons one for my parents last night at 11.30pm. It’s for 3 weeks time!

For everyone complaining about it, I think its important to remember that prior to this pandemic, only about 10% of shops were done online/delivery so they are desperately trying to ramp things up but are really not set up for all this.

adriennewillfly · 02/04/2020 09:10

I am in London/Essex borders. Ocado seem to pop up with slots from time to time. I just keep logging on, and eventually a slot opens up. Booked one for end of April and then one for next week came up. I just need milk, eggs, bread, some meat and a fresh veg box every week.

Divebar · 02/04/2020 09:29

I’m able to get a delivery with Sainsbury’s because I have a delivery pass. They only release them a few days before so yesterday I got a slot for Saturday ( they had all times available ) If you’re in London and are able to go somewhere try a major train station. My husband travels through Waterloo and said Marks & Spencer’s food is full of food with no customers. That being said our local supermarkets are well stocked .... he even picked up a lot of reduced items from our town centre Waitrose which had lots of stock. ( He saw about 3 people). Our local Costcutter has also done a good job of keeping stock in.

JRUIN · 02/04/2020 09:37

I've given up trying. My last Tesco shop around 3 weeks ago arrived with half of my order missing (no substitutes) anyway, so waste of time as far as I'm concerned.

1981m · 02/04/2020 09:45

I ve been very lucky, I managed to get one delivery and two collects over a month

MonaLisaDoesntSmile · 02/04/2020 11:00

@Bestbe Nope, I had one booked ages ago which arrived at the weekend and now we will have to go out as nothing else available :/

Justanothernameonthepage · 02/04/2020 11:06

We weren't able to get a slot so I ended up going to M&S at 5pm. I only had to queue for 8 minutes, trolley was wipes with antiseptic spray and it was really well stocked, and it ended up cheaper than ocado since ocado have stopped offers. My brother went to Tesco's and it took him twice as long. While I was there, they had a staff member assisting people where needed (with kids, disabilities etc)
Otherwise check out local greengrocers/delivery companies (Jurassic coast have availability this morning as that's what my sister uses)

thedailymailisbogroll · 02/04/2020 11:07

Asda- by staying awake at midnight. Hit the jackpot at 0035 after being in a queue. For a slot 3 weeks in advance.

By 0045 they had all gone again

neverearlythoughItry · 02/04/2020 13:13

I've just collected on behalf of an elderly neighbour from Tesco. Her order was £60+ and showed in stock last night. £25 was available today, I will now have to go out again for her, which I'm ok with but we won't bother trying to get a slot again.

0htooooodles · 02/04/2020 13:37

@neverearlythoughItry yeah, we have a slot with ASDA but everything in my basket is out of stock, and when asking you to swap items all those are out of stock! Seems pointless.
