(started from that now deleted thread)

As previously detailed, gathering dust in my house is the spiraliser, the diet milkshake drink shaker... at one point we had three separate keyboards.

I now have a vegetable box staring at me balefully....

Anyone else?

A lovely expensive cat bed. Fucker never once used it, he just lies on the bed/couch instead.

spookybitches · 01/04/2020 17:47

I can't believe how many mentions of an air fryer there are! I love my air fryer and use it at least 3-4 times a week if not more

spookybitches · 01/04/2020 17:53

A fondue set. Don't think we've even used it once.

Ejmorgan · 01/04/2020 17:55

My soup maker died at start of pandemic I really miss it , slow cooker is used frequently , airfry died shortly before soup maker but was brilliant I could cook a mini roast in 30 mins and spiralizers are great particularly with pasta shortages . How can people not love these things

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 01/04/2020 17:57

I've rationalized gadgets as they've worn out.

But the GF grill was useful when I had a tiny kitchen, I replaced the first rice cooker immediately because it was also great for potatoes, I miss the tower steamer and would sell the DTwatCat for a Vitamix (well, it crossed my mind at 4.03am when the fucker woke me up this morning) as the stick blender just isn't as good.

I'd like a spiraliser because I genuinely have eaten courgette noodles for years and a Pilates Reformer sounds like Heaven. We use the slow cooker at least 1-3 times a week including for roasting chicken and if I could get some sodding 00 or bread flour, I'd be happy making bread and pasta as well as udon noodles.

The steam cleaner is brilliant, too. Love the things.

The other things don't really appeal.

I'm hoping that a number of things turn up in charity shops and freecycle in a couple of months.

NemophilistRebel · 01/04/2020 18:00

My iPad.
I don’t get to use it much at all as my child enjoys the CBeebies app too much.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 01/04/2020 18:07

If you'd asked me a month back I might have said exercise bike and pasta machine but since we've been stuck indoors both have been used a lot (until we ran out of flour at least!)

Seventyone72seventy3 · 01/04/2020 18:08

We also use our raclette thingy about twice a year but I do like using it and it makes for a very easy dinner party.

comingintomyown · 01/04/2020 18:13

Polti steamer seriously expensive and I’ve never really got to grips with it

Bienentrinkwasser · 01/04/2020 18:17

This thread is making me desperately want a toasted sandwich maker. I have really fond memories of them being really popular when I was about 8 and having lots of cheese and beans, or tuna, sweetcorn and cheese toasties!

NemophilistRebel · 01/04/2020 18:19

I have w panini press which is an amazing difference from the toasty maker

Can still do toasties but so much more with paninis too

And much easier to clean

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 01/04/2020 18:20

The ££££ juicer. Oh god, the juicer. Why did I think a juicer was the answer to my problems?

A pasta attachment for my K-mix. I never, ever have time to make pasta from scratch.

The stupid, feeble spray mop. Might as well dribble on the floor and wipe it with a sock.

But I’d rush to replace the Instant Pot if it died.

flirtygirl · 01/04/2020 18:20

My hoover steam mop, heavy and the trigger button to use it is crap.

My instant pot, nutri smoothie maker and George foreman grill get used every day.
As is the ikea portable induction hob.

To people wanting to get rid, please list on ebay so we can all buy as needed. Espescially instant pots and smoothie makers, I'd like another as backup.

Soubriquet · 01/04/2020 18:21

@spookybitches

Are airfryers good for chips? Dh doesn’t want a Deep fat fryer in the house but has compromised and said we could get an air fryer. Are they good!

flirtygirl · 01/04/2020 18:23

For those who want a toastie maker. The George foreman grill is better, you can do panini's , toasties, wraps, toast and grill food and veg.

AgeLikeWine · 01/04/2020 18:24

An ice cream maker. Used twice & consigned to the back of the cupboard.

LongGinShortTonic · 01/04/2020 18:27

The Aeropress I bought DH has been used once and is now languishing in the pantry taking up space.

Ice cream maker and slow cooker given to friends after too many disasters! Given up on garlic press and mandolin. I want a mini spice grinder and half the Lakeland catalogue each time it arrives though.

Use my spiraliser regularly, love it!

tass1960 · 01/04/2020 18:28

I spent £400 on a Philips Lumea IPL hair remover then couldn't be arsed faffing around with it. I think it will be coming out again soon though Smile

LadyEloise · 01/04/2020 18:31

All the steam mops that have broken on me - Morphy Richards x2
Vax x1
It's not like they were over used and of course nowhere fixes them. Angrywhat a waste of money and the impact on the environment Sad
I got the Black and Decker one but the cord is very short - i need 2 extension leads Hmm
plus the grip for all 3 of the mop heads isn't working after a few washes.
Do R&D ever check things out.?

RhubarbBikini · 01/04/2020 18:32

This time last year I had visions of making all by bread at home, and ordered all types of flour to experiment with. Only I got bored after two loaves
DH moaned about the flour taking up space in the cupboard, but he's bloody pleased it's there now!

NemophilistRebel · 01/04/2020 18:36

Check there’s no weevils Shock

sueelleker · 01/04/2020 18:57

@Soubriquet; I cook frozen chips in my airfryer, and they're lovely, but I've not made any from fresh.

TheMustressMhor · 01/04/2020 19:02

@Sh05

I bought a crème brulee kit too, specifically for the blowtorch.

When I finally opened it, several weeks later, the blowtorch wasn't even there. Just the ramekins.

Many years later I mentioned it and my (by now grown up) DC told me they'd stolen the blowtorch to light joints with.

Huh.

TheMustressMhor · 01/04/2020 19:04

I also started a blog which I had to spend £36 on.

www.the-robbing-butcher.co.uk

I am so tech-unsavvy that I can't work out all the advantages of having spent the £36.

PurpleBlueAnemone · 01/04/2020 19:09

Slow cooker. I had visions on me tossing stuff in before work and coming home to lovely meals.
I come home to whole chicken that looks pale, tastes bizarrely dry and looks like the rotting undead.
Most things are better when browned and started off in a saucepan therefore negating the whole idea.
The only recipe I've found to taste and look nice was pulled pork but that required a lot of ingredients, the initial browning and probably just as good done in the oven.
