(started from that now deleted thread)

As previously detailed, gathering dust in my house is the spiraliser, the diet milkshake drink shaker... at one point we had three separate keyboards.

I now have a vegetable box staring at me balefully....

Anyone else?

Once the current situation improves perhaps we should all investigate our local Freecyle site.
You can offer goods for free and also pick up brilliant stuff for free.
One persons trash is another’s treasure and all that 😊

Wilding · 01/04/2020 09:24

Slow/pressure cooker, sous-vide, juicer all get used every couple of days in this house!

The Vitamix, on the other hand... Fortunately I bought it v cheap second-hand so not too much of a waste of money

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 01/04/2020 09:37

Present regret here. Dh bought me a Buddha board two years ago. Used once. He looks at it with sadness.

LGY1 · 01/04/2020 09:41

@msmith501 my mum sliced off the side of her little finger with one of those! I was about 10 at the time, I remember lots of blood and lots of painful trips to the nurse to change bandages!

MigginsMrs · 01/04/2020 09:41

Oh yeah the £300 computerised sewing machine. I’m frightened of it.

FaithInfinity · 01/04/2020 11:04

Definitely bread maker - deliberately bought one with a gluten free setting. Absolutely useless, just like the bread in About a boy that kills the duck!

Also robot hoover. Loved the idea, entertaining to watch. Bloody thing stopped working after a few weeks, started going round in circles. And I lost the receipt 🤦🏻

I love our instant pot, we use it at least twice a week, do all sorts in it! Going to do a whole chicken tonight. To the poster who said it’s difficult to clean? No the bowl lifts out, usually it cleans up with hot water and washing up liquid but the bowl goes in the dishwasher too.!

clary · 01/04/2020 11:11

Those who say a steam cleaner, do you mean the steam mop for the kitchen floor? I agree the attachments are rubbish but it's great for cleaning dirty foitpribts! You do have to hoover first but then it's great, I use mine 3 times a week at least.

What's the soup maker everyone mentions and how does it trump a saucepan plus hand blender?

Have put one of my cake stands in the ebay pile now 😊 you should all get selling!

AutumnRose1 · 01/04/2020 11:30

Wondering if I ought to sell my bread maker....I’m nervous about selling an electrical item. I wasn’t impressed with it either but thought it was me getting mixes wrong!

Maydayredalert · 01/04/2020 11:32

Shark vacuum. I know people rave about them but I don't find it very good at all.

Silentplikebath · 01/04/2020 11:34

Pp who mention their soup makers - you need to add 2 stock cubes and extra seasoning to get better results. My first effort was definitely tasteless vegetable water but now I enjoy using it.

My useless gadgets were a salad spinner and a fancy cat bed. My cat had completely ignored it for months, so it will be donated to the local cat rescue after lockdown!

Toddlerteaplease · 01/04/2020 11:34

My friend adored his Remoska!

TWD89 · 01/04/2020 11:38

Instant pot.

What a load of crap. Just makes bland, watery, terrible tasting food.

IllegalFred · 01/04/2020 11:40

I understand buying things and finding they fall out of use quite quickly or are genuinely shit, but buying reasonably expensive things and then not even opening the box baffles me!

JanewaysBun · 01/04/2020 11:42

Moses basket!

VeryShortNotice · 01/04/2020 11:43

My mum bought me a steam cleaner. It was useless. You need to properly mop the floor afterwards because, at best, it might just make the dirt a bit less stubborn to scrub off.

I use our waffle makers (we have two, so many waffles can be cooked simultaneously) loads. I was going to say we, but I’m the one who makes them (someone else regularly promises them to the SDC though, even though it’s my labour he’s promising 🙄).

Dylaninthemovies1 · 01/04/2020 12:18

@Northernsoullover. Just bin it. Eechkksshh

GlamGiraffe · 01/04/2020 13:56

@WisestIsShe here it is.

First recipe on her. He doesn't use olive oil. Mixes it in the evening and does the folding and baking after school so its ready for dinner or the next morning. You need a good casserole dish. I use my le creuset.

tinnitusqueen · 01/04/2020 13:58

I do use our bread maker, but I did a lot of research to get a good one.
Once you get into the epilator use after a few goes it stops hurting and regrowth is softer but I'm not particularly hairy so I can see why it wouldn't suit everyone.
So many hair curling devices. They do work a bit, but they take so long to do, and how anybody does the back of their head in any hairstyle is beyond me. French plait? Forget it.
Never used my roller blades. Terrified of them. Same with the penny board.
We inherited a raclette which is good for a giggle but you get fed up of a cheese based meal.
Also have a fondue which is fun. Baby likes to use the hilariously long forks for his dinner so they get use!

All my pre pregnancy clothes and knickers, none of which I can throw out.

A lot of books.

A lot of masks and beauty products.

Figmentofmyimagination · 01/04/2020 14:07

Ice cream maker. Used just once. The ingredients are heart attack inducing.

Chillicheese123 · 01/04/2020 14:10

Toastie maker. It’s a faff to clean and I just go back to doing them in a non stick frying pan. So much less faff.

Stayinghome · 01/04/2020 15:31

Ice cream maker - needs too much freezer space
Spiralizer - looked easy to use but I can't get it to work properly
Mandolin - sits in the drawer as a knife is easier to use
Juicer - now gone to charity shop

WisestIsShe · 01/04/2020 15:48

@GlamGiraffe thanks. I might give it a try tonight.

AlecOrAlonzo · 01/04/2020 15:57

@OhClover and @FaithInfinity

The inner pot, silicone ring and lid all go in the dishwasher. You have to put the lid on the top drawer.

My top things are

Porridge
Stock
Curry, stew, chilli, bolognese etc
Soup
Corn on the cob
Potatoes (esp for mashing)
Reheating from frozen
Poached chicken

LadyofMisrule · 01/04/2020 16:35

For those who find their toastie makers difficult to clean, take a big piece of greaseproof paper and fold it in half. Slide your sandwich in the paper, then toast the whole thing. The toaster stays clean, and you still get the crisp stripes on the sandwich.

oohyoudevilyou · 01/04/2020 16:38

The Pashley bike I blew £700 on after deciding I was really into cycling on a CenterParcs holiday. I have used it once as the roads round here are bloody terrifying.
