(started from that now deleted thread)

As previously detailed, gathering dust in my house is the spiraliser, the diet milkshake drink shaker... at one point we had three separate keyboards.

I now have a vegetable box staring at me balefully....

Anyone else?

My slow cooker

I thought it would be great and then realised it’s just as easy if not better to just use a casserole dish like I always have done

Lightofthephoenix · 01/04/2020 00:02

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams

Lean mean, fat grilling machine.

They make great paninis and toasted cheese sandwiches.

Gammeldragz · 01/04/2020 00:13

Hmm. Dehydrator. I used it about 3 times, lent it to someone who did the same and then I think it got lost in their house move. I'm not particularly upset, I do still have the box in the loft...
Slow cooker gets used, mostly for gammon or a whole chicken. Meals taste funny.
Food processor, used every few years if that. Probably should get rid of it, but I feel like I'm the kind of person who owns a food processor...
Kenwood chef, old style. Loved it for a year, haven't used it in about 8 years!
Steam cleaner - I felt like this was going to change my life. Same for the carpet and upholstery cleaner. My house is still a gubby, smelly mess.

I feel like gadgets are aspirational and often we just don't change as much as we had hoped.

I had to get DH to talk me out of wanting a toasted sandwich maker, after reading them mentioned here just now!

Oh, for Christmas I bought DH a wierd egg cooker thing that ejaculates cooked egg with filling of your choice into a greasy sausage of eggy wrongness... It is quite epic and the videos of it being used are hilarious and more than make up for the questionable results.

An Elvie pelvic floor exerciser - used twice - cost about £150! 😧

Gammeldragz · 01/04/2020 00:15

Oh, can I also add a fancy water fountain thing for my fussy cat to drink from because she kept tipping her water over and trying to drink from taps. She wasn't impressed.

Moonlite · 01/04/2020 00:18

My exercise bike aka coat hanger

MigginsMrs · 01/04/2020 00:20

Spiraliser
Air fryer

MigginsMrs · 01/04/2020 00:21

I had a waffle maker once, that was shit as well

MigginsMrs · 01/04/2020 00:22

Oh yeah and the George foreman. Easy to clean my arse, I just swish grease round it

SpillTheTeaa · 01/04/2020 00:23

Some shoes. I worn them once now they're collecting dust in the shoe cupboard. They gave me blisters so I know I need to wear them in but I just can't put myself through that right now Grin

SharonasCorona · 01/04/2020 00:25

@willowmelangell

Smoothskin bare ultrafast IPL hair remover. Thats £150 I'll never see again. If I have to stay at home(supermarket worker) I might start using it.

I bought the Phillips Lumea in the last Amazon Prime Day and I haven't even opened it (£280). It was a rare impulse buy, I usually umm and aah over purchases for months.

Also, slow cooker from Wilko, again never opened. However that was only £2.50.

Bought a GHD straightening iron (£130) to curl hair, but have gone back to £1 plastic hair curlers and my net Grin

Pipandmum · 01/04/2020 00:25

Soup maker. Just can not be bothered.
I did buy a coffee machine at 70% off at Tesco and it sat in its box for two years. Then decided to give it a go - now I have a yummy latte every day!

SharonasCorona · 01/04/2020 00:27

Is a halogen cooker the same as an airfryer? DM gave me her unused one but it's now sitting in my attic, also unused.

MrsMoastyToasty · 01/04/2020 00:29

Ice cream maker. Had it about 5 years. Used it precisely 2 times.
Bread maker- bought it when I thought I might be coeliac. Got tested and wasn't. Now serves as a place to lean cookery books against. DH was a baker when I met him FFS.

LightDrizzle · 01/04/2020 00:30

I bought a running machine without a motor, it crucified my lower back to use it as I’m small and had to set it steeply to even get going.
It followed me through two successive houses for 7 years before I finally got rid.
It was much cheaper than a proper one, but expensive for a large, hideous, unusable object.

A DIY gel nail kit to save money on professional nails Hmm Bag of shite.

Sparklfairy · 01/04/2020 00:31

So so many things.

I bought heeleys on impulse as I thought they would be fun to walk the dog along the promenade along the beach.

My coordination is shocking and I never got the hang of them even round the house, so never took them out.

The dog has been dead three years. Heeleys are in the cupboard.

More recently I bought an air fryer but months later it's sitting on top of my wardrobe rather than faff with putting it together/working out how to use it. I only think about it when I'm halfway through cooking on the hob.

I'm sure there's more.

LightDrizzle · 01/04/2020 00:31

Oh and an epilator! Jesus! The pain!

SharonasCorona · 01/04/2020 00:36

Maybe we need a swap shop!

TheClitterati · 01/04/2020 00:39

Pilates machine from QVC Blush

GlummyMcGlummerson · 01/04/2020 00:48

I can't tell you how many gadgets I've bought in an attempt to curl my hair.
Rollers, various curling wands, little machines that suck your hair in and spit a messy curl out, big barrel tong thingies, straighteners with a grooves in the side, hairdryer attachments, you name it I've tried it.

What results, every time, is a range of uneven messy curls in different shapes and sizes that have about 50 flyaway hairs attached to each. That all straighten out after 20 minutes

HOW DO PEOPLE GET WAVY BEACH HAIR- HOW?!

Is there a secret no one has told me about?

Florawest · 01/04/2020 00:54

Very expensive whole fruit juicer, sounded wonderful used about 4 times, lots of little awkward grooves for washing so charity shop.
Exercise bike with glider out in shed taking up space.
Kenwood mixer used 3 times.
George foreman mainly for toasted sandwiches a great buy.
Popcorn maker another for charity shop.
Hand blender best buy, great for blending soup, was thinking buying soup maker but thanks think I will stick with the saucepan job 🤔.
Steamer for floors, used handful times as constantly filling it up with water 😢
Pancake maker in the back of a press.
Electric food steamer, steam ahead first when I got it now under stairs.
Was looking at the slow cookers but my daughter reminded me what would happen it, so didn't buy it.😂
Massage hammer flipping over €100 too, another unused item.

managedmis · 01/04/2020 00:55

Brown suede jacket

managedmis · 01/04/2020 00:58

An Elvie pelvic floor exerciser - used twice - cost about £150! 😧

^

I swear I'm not a troll - how do you use these?

demelzaaa · 01/04/2020 00:58

A really pricey bike for my DD that she refused to even so much as sit on once.

BlackSwan · 01/04/2020 00:58

To those with unwanted breadmakers - now is your chance to sell. They're sold out everywhere in shops and trading at ridiculous prices on Ebay.
