(started from that now deleted thread)

As previously detailed, gathering dust in my house is the spiraliser, the diet milkshake drink shaker... at one point we had three separate keyboards.

I now have a vegetable box staring at me balefully....

Anyone else?

DH bought and then sold an Instant pot within a month.

Stupid bloody steam cleaner advertised by loud man saying ‘the power of water’ a lot on early morning TV. Handle bends with the slightest pressure then two of them stopped puffing out steam after a week or so. Bright green, utter rubbish.

aussieaussieaussieoioioi · 01/04/2020 23:46

@Fiveletters @Racheyg

Oh no....I've been thinking of buying one. Why is it so shit?

Rumtopf · 01/04/2020 23:50

We should start a swap shop thread off the back of this to get rid of and gain items!

I've got a mountain climber bit of gym equipment that I've used 3 times. I then hurt my shoulder and now it's used as a place to hang DH's work shirts when drying.

Fiveletters · 01/04/2020 23:55

@aussieaussieaussieoioioi it’s not that it’s shit. It does a really good job on my hair. But exactly the same job as my straighteners so I just never choose to use it!

One of the selling points is that you can use it on day-old hair, which is great, but I wash mine every day.

Obvs if you want to buy mine Grin ....

lightlypoached · 02/04/2020 00:02

@grumpos I'll take the food processsor off your hands Grin been meaning to get one for ages so it can sit and clutter up the kitchen , unused

MrsIronfoundersson · 02/04/2020 00:27

A mandolin ... Yes I was very careful and used the guard- still took the top off my middle finger the second time I used it and haven't dared to try it again!

Mrschainsawuk · 02/04/2020 00:35

I need a stand mixer I have knackered wrists but refuse to pay hahhaha mine is a ice cream maker never used

Mowly75 · 02/04/2020 01:10

@Summercamping still love my nutribullet after all these years. Pesto, hommous, soup, smoothies, pina fucking coladas, and one hot boozy summer before I had a kid a delicious watermelon, coconut water and vodka concoction I convinced myself was healthy,

BramwellBrown · 02/04/2020 01:21

I have an ice cream maker i bought for DD, we used it once, it cost a bloody fortune in ingredients, made the worlds smallest ice cream, took forever and it didn't even taste that good!

TicTac80 · 02/04/2020 01:29

Hmmmm, I love my Instant Pot (had it nearly 4yrs and use it pretty much everyday), breadmaker (I use nearly everyday, particularly now kids aren’t at school), magimix food processor, epilator and IPL hair remover thingy. I use my exercise bike, treadmill and power plate. Oh and I inherited my mum’s food dehydrator when she died (and I use that quite a bit - makes fab kale chips!!!)

I don’t use my GHDs much as I’m lazy, and the spiralizer is sat on a shelf gathering dust. I bought a home gel nail kit thingy (paint nail polish stuff on and put nails under a uv lamp) - bloody stupid of me.. I can’t use it as I’m a nurse!!!

I’ve looked at Thermomixes (my friend has one and loves it), but they’re insanely expensive. Also looked at air fryers (and normal fryers) but just not sure!

caringcarer · 02/04/2020 01:32

An expensive set of golf clubs. After only using them once in 4 years I have now recently given them away.

aussieaussieaussieoioioi · 02/04/2020 03:27

@Fiveletters Grinif I was in the UK I would! I was told it would give me a smooth blow dried look without the flatness of regular straighteners....🤔
My hairdresser is good at talking me into gadgets.

aussieaussieaussieoioioi · 02/04/2020 03:31

And on the topic of useless items...

Air fryer. Hate cleaning the stupid thing.
Every tea pot/gadget I've ever bought from T2.
Slow cooker.
Steam cleaner. Both the mop and the handheld steam thing.

paperandfireworks · 02/04/2020 03:31

Ghd curling iron.

aussieaussieaussieoioioi · 02/04/2020 03:32

@TicTac80 I have a Thermomix. It definitely doesn't sit with the useless items. Worth every dollar!

Racheyg · 02/04/2020 07:00

@aussieaussieaussieoioioi

It doesn't suit my hair type. I have naturally curly hair and it doesn't take the frizz out. My ghd straighteners are sooooo much better.

Seventyone72seventy3 · 02/04/2020 09:37

I use my Thermomix a lot too. I didn't actually want it but it was a gift that I am now very happy with.

80sMum · 02/04/2020 09:48

Breadmaker. I was persuaded by DD to get one when she was still living with us about 20 years ago. I can't remember when I last used it.

fanniboz · 02/04/2020 09:54

A few years ago I saw an advert on tv for leg waxing and immediately bought tubs of wax, a wax melting machine thing and about 300 wax strips Confused tried it once, couldn't even do a whole leg and it's all been sat under my bed since Grin

LadyEloise · 02/04/2020 10:49

A Thermomix as a gift.
Wow!

Monkeynuts18 · 02/04/2020 11:57

Kitchen gadgets seem to be a regular feature on here! Have to add my voice to the spiralizer chorus. Used it perhaps 3 times. Spent £50 on it!

One of mine has been a set of reusable nappies that are absolute shit. I’ve subsequently gone on to use another type of reusable (it’s not reusable nappies per se that’s the problem!) that are really good but the original brand I bought were just terrible. £80 down the drain!

BurneyFanny · 02/04/2020 13:55

Thermomixes are utter wank. Top tip: use a pan and a blender and save yourself £990.

GlamGiraffe · 02/04/2020 14:00

More on the " No lead bread recipe" as there was a bit of confusion. He said this helped for a first time go.

GlamGiraffe · 02/04/2020 14:02

Or " no knead" even! I'm pretty sure bread without lead us not a thing we need to be specifically avoiding these days😂

keepingbees · 02/04/2020 14:13

Me and DH bought an air fryer whilst on a health kick. Utter crap, couldn't cook more than a handful of chips at a time and the paddle mashed everything up as it softened.

Microwave vegetable steamer, more hassle than it's worth.

Straightening brush. Thought it would be quicker and kinder to hair than straighteners. It took just as long with worse results.

I love my slow cooker and use it all the time!
