Yup. I'm making do with some of the scented candles I received at Christmas (not my preferred ones).

I draw the line at Yankee candles though. I only received one of those thankfully and it can stay unlit.

ShinyRuby · 30/03/2020 19:24

I recieved a (very obviously) Christmassy handwash set for my birthday in January. I wasn't too impressed at the regifting at the time but very happy now & it's in full use!

silverbubbles · 30/03/2020 19:25

I very nearly got rid of the netball post. So glad I didn't. DD been using it every day.

Heatherjayne1972 · 30/03/2020 19:31

Yes. Thank goodness for people who think I need loads of bath stuff for Christmas
And the extra shampoo I bought by accident at the end of last year

Stuckupsnob · 30/03/2020 19:32

It’s mother nature making you grateful for grapefruit hand soap.

Sotiredofthislife · 30/03/2020 19:36

Oh god, I would be lost without my secret Santa soap! All my hand wash was own to the last centimetre and haven’t been able to get any for the last 3 weeks!

When we had our new kitchen and new utility room, I organised all the utility room cupboards. This afternoon, thought I'd tidy them. They are really big ceiling to floor. Turns out I put spares of things on the top shelf. I discovered 3 bottles of Zoflora, 4 of washing up liquid, two cartons of antibacterial handwash refills, two cans of furniture polish, two packets of washing capsules and a packet of dishwasher tablets, a large kitchen cleaner spray, a floor cleaner and a Flash bathroom cleaner and two bottles of loo cleaner, some Barkeepers Friends for the ceramic sink, 6 single loo rolls and several new cleaning clothes. They were behind a long box of Christmas lights which had been stuffed at the front and it wasn't until I stood on stool steps that I realised they were there.
I already have a small cupboard where I keep my one spare of everything. I didn't tell DH - he'd just complain I have no idea what I buy.
No food or personal toiletries but the house will be clean.

TankGirl97 · 30/03/2020 19:39

Absolutely agree! Our hands are all sore from washing, the kids are slathering on fancy hand/face creams I wouldn't have let them touch a month or two ago. A found a tk maxx soap I only bought for the tin which is now in use.
We got a new netted trampoline and a swing ball set for Christmas which have been fantastic for the kids. I only wish we had a ping pong table as dh loves it, but apparently the whole country sold out weeks ago!

I'm currently doing a jigsaw of Valletta in Malta which I reckon is 50 years old

I’m deeply, deeply envious. I love Malta and would kill for a Valletta jigsaw.

flumposie · 30/03/2020 19:42

I'm thankful for the handwash set and hand cream I got for Christmas. Usually don't use them.

MrsGrindah · 30/03/2020 19:43

I’ve just got an emergency plane back from Malta so sadly it’s soured my experience of the place and will forever be connected to the virus in my mind!

Zaphodsotherhead · 30/03/2020 19:45

I moved house at the end of January and threw so much stuff away...

which has proved to be a bit of a bugger.

caringcarer · 30/03/2020 19:45

I found a stash of foot cream, hand cream and two in one shampoo and conditioner in my travel bag left over from last holiday. Then got ds to check his bag and he too had shampoo. Quite disappointed when dh's bag was completely empty.

crystal1717 · 30/03/2020 19:46

Remind me never to buy you a gift again.

chocolateisavegetable · 30/03/2020 19:48

If the toilet roll shortage continues, I'm going to be very grateful for the serviettes my Mum gave me for Christmas Grin

Alsohuman · 30/03/2020 19:49

What a shame @MrsGrindah, how’s it bearing up? Returning there is on my list of things to look forward to at the end of this.

AcrossthePond55 · 30/03/2020 19:49

DiL loves naice hand creams and has given me lots of tubes and pots for birthdays, Xmas, etc. DH and DS2 have now decided that they don't care if their poor over-washed hands smell like apple blossom, coconut-lime, or roses it's better than chapped skin. Plus I have enough hotel-size lotions, shower gels, shampoo & conditioners I could probably supply a small army.

But the best is that I'd ordered TWO huge bottles of my favourite conditioner and one huge bottle of shampoo a couple of weeks ago so I'm well stocked.

Whenwillthisbeover · 30/03/2020 19:49

I can’t believe the stuff I’ve found in my cupboards. Mum asked me to get shampoo as they were washing hair with washing up liquid, I had 17 - I know, I know, part used and full bottles. Ok some is purple for blonde hair, but also special off buys in there. Also loads of Nivea, Dove and Linx shower gel from crappy gift boxes.

The best find was three, part used, mini bottles of ...... hand gel. Yes they may be old but it was like the lottery.

Foxes157 · 30/03/2020 19:54

I cleared out my cupboard of doom, where long forgotten items of domestic tat go that will never get used and found 3 manky bog rolls and a bag of cleaning products that I think I purchased for a spring clean 3 years ago.cleaning cloths, washing up liquid, cloths etc

Never felt so happy to find antibac wipes and bog rolls, couldn't find them when I was doing the shop on Friday.

Chickenitalia · 30/03/2020 19:57

I got dh to completely empty out his gym and sports bags in search of festering washing... found half a bottle of shower gel and two part used packets of paracetamol. They did go out of date in 2018 but for the moment I’ve kept them, figure they will be fine in a pinch 🤞🏻

maggiso · 30/03/2020 19:59

The only hand sanitizer gel we have was in a bottle where the pump bit was broken.I’m not good at throwing things away so it was still sitting waiting for me to decide what to do. Now it’s all been transferred to smaller bottles. There’s not much left now- and I so nearly threw it away before all this started!

Calmandsteady · 30/03/2020 20:01

ras el hanout takes cous cous to another dimension with veg stock and a splash of olive oil

Ninkanink · 30/03/2020 20:02

@Calmandsteady our dinner tonight!

glad I didn’t ditch the Christmas smelly shit
Ninkanink · 30/03/2020 20:03

(Apologies for slight derail, op!)

BlueJava · 30/03/2020 20:06

I'm the same - pleased I kept my Christmas soap now as we're using it! Was also given a jigsaw which has now come in handy!
