Watched this evening on Disney Plus. Electroshock therapy in a freaky hospital. The Scarecrow's face. The Wheelers! Screeching headless witch.

Absolutely brilliant film but it scares the bejeesus out of me! 😱

That was my favourite film as a child. Used to give me the creeps too and my niece is too scared to watch it now after catching a glimpse of the wheelers

purpleme12 · 29/03/2020 20:56

I do remember it being creepy when I was a child
But I still liked it
I think Pg is still ok for it really

BrigidSt · 29/03/2020 20:58

I am still scared of this film and I'm in my 40s! Its brilliant, but yeah, never got over the Wheelers looking through the keyhole and the rest of the horror, severed witch heads in cabinets opening their eyes and screaming, all so scary, kids films are so differrent now.

Bluewavescrashing · 29/03/2020 20:59

It's awesome. Probably having been scared of it as a child makes me more frightened now than if I were to watch it for the first time as an adult.

Very underrated film.

Yep, freaked me the hell out, but I still loved it!

wendz86 · 29/03/2020 20:59

the wheelers used to (and still do ) terrify me.

Icantreachthepretzels · 29/03/2020 21:00

It probably got it's certificate based on there not being any blood,
actual violence or sex/ nudity.
I bet general creepiness isn't a category they mark against when deciding these things.
The wheelers are awesomely terrifying though.

Corcra · 29/03/2020 21:01

One of my dhs favourite film. We watched it together. Kids (4 & 7) loved it. I definitely thought it was scary in parts. Great film.

EmpressJewel · 29/03/2020 21:02

I remember being scared of the wheelers and all those heads.

Isleepinahedgefund · 29/03/2020 21:02

Love that film. Terrified me when I saw it as a child when it came out! The wheelers are terrifying as well as the room full of heads without bodies. When the body without the head gets up and runs around too.

Didn’t notice the electric shock therapy until I was an adult though!

TerrorWig · 29/03/2020 21:03

Isn't that the film with the room full of heads?

Can't wait to watch it again! Creepy but great.

raspberryjamlove · 29/03/2020 21:04

The wheelers still give me nightmares!

JoyceDivision · 29/03/2020 21:08

I love this film!!!

Freddiefox · 29/03/2020 21:09

Brilliant film, but had to turn it off when watching with the children as they were quite scared.

Bluewavescrashing · 29/03/2020 21:11

And when Ozma says to Dorothy, the people screaming (in the hospital) are the damaged ones who've been locked in the cellar!

fedup21 · 29/03/2020 21:12

Goodness-I has bad dreams about that film as a child!!

Does anyone remember Watcher in the Woods with David McCallum and Bette Davis-I’m sure that was Disney as well. Terrifying!

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 29/03/2020 21:13

When the heads start screaming!!!

Seeing how the first film is so lovely mostly..then you have this!

Bluewavescrashing · 29/03/2020 21:14

I watched it on my own. DCs weren't interested luckily, I think they would be terrified.

OP posts:
TotesGodsWill · 29/03/2020 21:14

It’s a brilliant film but SO scary, still creeps me out even as an adult! The Wheelers and Mombi with the heads in particular

Marmite27 · 29/03/2020 21:14

It’s fucking terrifying.

The wheelie monkeys and the heads. shudder

I’d still probably have nightmares if I watched it now.

Bluewavescrashing · 29/03/2020 21:15

Is Tim Burton anything to do with it? Or is it too old? Definitely has a delicious Gothic vibe.

DaphneFanshaw · 29/03/2020 21:16

I love that film!!!!
I used to love the books too. I might have to get them on kindle now that I haven't got any thing better to do.

APurpleSquirrel · 29/03/2020 21:17

It definitely has some scary moments just like Labyrinth or the Dark Crystal - of their time really.

I'm still shocked Jurassic Park is a PG!! Shock

TheReluctantCountess · 29/03/2020 21:17

The Wheelers used to scare the shit out of me!

And then the room with the heads screaming 😵

Nowifi · 29/03/2020 21:17

I loved this film as a child it's one of the only films I have on DVD. I remember being terrified of the witch heads and the bit where she is locked in the cage screaming!

I'm sure the main actress who played Dorothy was in "The Craft" film too, loved that as well
