Watched this evening on Disney Plus. Electroshock therapy in a freaky hospital. The Scarecrow's face. The Wheelers! Screeching headless witch.

Absolutely brilliant film but it scares the bejeesus out of me! 😱

Yes this still haunts me now.

Bloody terrifying.

MissMogwai · 29/03/2020 21:22

Scared me to death as a kid. The Wheelers are so creepy and the pumpkin head man is horrifying.

The only thing I liked was the lunchbox tree? Or have I made that up?

itispersonal · 29/03/2020 21:22

I think 12A

Not quite a pg but not a 12.

It is a scary film

Bluewavescrashing · 29/03/2020 21:25

I love the lunchbox tree 😁🥪

Yes, Jurassic Park is scary for a PG. I was impressed when my 5yo watched it without flinching and shrugged, saying, it's just a story. I was scared age 12 watching it in the cinema.

A great film but I did think that Momby and the Gnome King were scary.

FaithInfinity · 29/03/2020 21:36

Yes this film is terrifying! The whole head removal thing. I always get ill over Christmas (burnout) and this film was the only thing on while I was convalescing!

Purplesquirrell DD (6) has watched Jurassic Park. I thought she’d be scared but she thinks it’s brilliant and hilarious in places!

purpleme12 · 29/03/2020 21:42

Exactly that's my point things we found scary when we were little kids don't anymore. Not as much

And yes she was in The Craft

Iorderedyouapancake · 29/03/2020 21:46

@fedup21 the watcher in the woods gave me nightmares for years as a child! I bloody loved return to oz though

Percivalthebabyspider · 29/03/2020 21:47

This still scares me, it's a terrifying film!

Cacaca · 29/03/2020 21:49

Still can’t watch it - those heads just freak me out.

AngstyAnnie · 29/03/2020 22:27

Oh god the wheelers! Shock I forgot about that film, I loved it as a child.

AravisTarkheena · 29/03/2020 22:31

This film is fucking insane.

underneaththeash · 29/03/2020 22:32

It is massively scary! All the "damaged" children in the basement.......

Wetcarparkrain · 29/03/2020 22:33

Omg I loved this (also terrified of it) as a child, so dark and brilliant! And it’s on Disney plus!!

MitziK · 29/03/2020 22:34

I discovered DD watching The Mummy very, very late one night when she was five.

She loved that movie long before there was a cartoon version.

I'd thought that children had been taught to be scared of anything except the most innocuous things in the time since I was a five year old mad about Dracula, The Wolfman, Frankenstein's Monster and suchlike. But apparently not.

I blame Scooby Doo for this resilience

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 29/03/2020 22:37

I have the dvd and watched it the other week. I can't believe I watched it as a child but then I also loved Legend (Tim Curry as a huuuuge demon) and many other dark fantasy films yet realistic horror scared the crap out of me.

I probably wouldn't let my 7yo DD watch it yet but she tends to dwell on scary things so would probably expect the wheelers to be hiding in the dark.

JanewaysBun · 29/03/2020 22:47

It the surreal 80s aspect that gets me! I find the same with labyrinth and the never ending story

Applejaxx · 29/03/2020 22:54

I’ve not seen this film in years!

Remember the princess being tapped in the mirror and she’s all blurry, like a ghost?

BoswellsBollocks · 29/03/2020 23:00

Nowifi Fairuza Balk also played The Worst Witch, which in my opinion is the best film ever made and shits all over Harry Fucking Potter 😉

RC1511 · 29/03/2020 23:01

Oh my yes. I seem this flash up on Disney + and it instantly gave me palpitations. I was petrified if that film as a child. Terrible film!

EveryFlightBeginsWithAFall · 29/03/2020 23:02

Omg is return to oz on there Shock used to scare the shit out of me

Toiletrollbuyer · 29/03/2020 23:06

I watched it again the other day, it’s bloody horrific!!!
Anyone remember a Disney film called ‘watcher in the woods’ I seem to remember that being a bit 😳 too

MorganKitten · 29/03/2020 23:07

Is that a chicken in there with you?

Toiletrollbuyer · 29/03/2020 23:09

@fedup21 that’ll teach me to read the thread, I see you have been damaged by watcher in the woods too...
