I felt like it would be nice to see a normal MN debate on AIBU this evening so am I? Gets all the fat off and leaves your mince nice and clean. Halo

@Haffiana

😂😂😂

But seriously no. It's actually not hygienic to rise raw meat. It's not recommended. Bacteria in raw meat and poultry juices can be spread to other foods, and surfaces while rinsing. It can cause this cross-contamination.

Dyrne · 29/03/2020 23:12

The fuckers rinsing mince to “get rid of fat” better not be doing it directly in the sink.

Otherwise I’m going to hunt each and every one of you down and force you to chew on a bit of manky fatberg that’s been sitting in the sewer for months...

WeAllHaveWings · 29/03/2020 23:12

Got this feeling of deja vu....

clockworklime · 29/03/2020 23:13

Don't do that - you are rinsing solid fats into the drain system. Just fry it and spoon off excess fat into a cup and bin the fat once it solidifies.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/03/2020 23:14

I don't rinse my mince.

Blimey, the thread this references is from 10 years ago. No wonder so many are Confusedwtf? Grin

I'd misremembered, I thought it was someone whose DH was a mince rinser.

AlexaAmbidextra · 29/03/2020 23:15

Sounds like some sort of bizarre sexual practice.

ErrolTheDragon · 29/03/2020 23:15

TwatCat - given your name was that really a typo re mice?Grin

livingmyslothlife · 29/03/2020 23:17

10 years ago, no way. I've been here too long.

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 29/03/2020 23:29

If anyone's interested, domain rinsemymince.com appears to be available to buy. I had to check, didn't I? Grin Actually, I am quite tempted...

willowpatterns · 29/03/2020 23:29

I fry the mince, then put in a litlle bit of boiling water from the kettle. Tip the pan, the fat rises to the top and I skim it off with a ladle. Some mince is really fatty and I'm on a diet for medical reasons, so I don't want to eat a load of fat if I can help it.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/03/2020 23:32

That long ago was it, minced it the 1st time round lol

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/03/2020 23:33

Ops i mean missed it, got mince rinsing on my brain.

gerrycinnamonssunqueen · 29/03/2020 23:34

Dyrne and clockworklime beat me to it. DO NOT rinse fat into the sink, you will cause blocked drains and fatbergs. Eat it or cook it and drain it.

gobbynorthernbird · 29/03/2020 23:36

Your mince!

Ilovefoodnotgym · 29/03/2020 23:39

I’m so surprised at this poll, I’ll have to ask my friends. I have always rinsed mince under the tap before cooking.

TimeForDinnerDinnerDinner · 29/03/2020 23:40

That's a new one on me OP...
Never heard of such a thing Smile

joydivisionovengloves71 · 29/03/2020 23:45

Rinsing gets rid of fat? I'm going start drinking more water!

SparklyShoesandTutus · 29/03/2020 23:47

Do not rinse raw meat increases risk of spread of disease. If cooked drain the fat no need to rinse

Pinkarsedfly · 29/03/2020 23:49

I loved that original thread. IIRC it descended into a load of rhyming posts.

Rinse his mince?
Freeze his cheese?
Wipe his tripe?
Put a tater through the grater?

Happy days...

DaphneFanshaw · 29/03/2020 23:52

Are you an oldie reliving your yoof op?

eaglejulesk · 29/03/2020 23:55

I've never heard of mince rinsing! I buy mince with the least fat content, cook it in the oven (only use it for chilli). Mince is on the shopping list for this week.

Pinkarsedfly · 29/03/2020 23:58

funny thread from years ago

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 30/03/2020 00:31

Fucking hell, now I feel old because I actually got that reference!

Who's brave enough to start a thread about toilet brushes? Or perhaps offer something for the sporners?

ErrolTheDragon · 30/03/2020 00:32

Ah - that was the thread I remembered, so it was a DP.

Only 9 years ago.

Pinkarsedfly · 30/03/2020 07:44

I felt quite nostalgic reading that and seeing some of the old names.

There were some funny buggers on here back in the day Grin
