Is it jealousy? The daily teacher bashing threads on here are ridiculous.

Do you blame us for schools closing?

You seem angry and resentful with your life. I can understand why though.

In what way? Can you quote me? I actually feel things worked out very well in the end, as they so often do even when it feels so hard at the time.

Wait, are you too, Just Making Stuff Up now? Grin

"Ok, where is the evidence that teachers feel the need to say we work harder than anyone else?"

MN poster - "Try being a GP.... Mnetters love to moan, bash and demand of us.."

You - "@theredjellybean do GP’s take their work home with them? By brother is a GP and I never see him doing so.."

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 15:41

And yet I never said we work harder. Another fail.

OP posts:
Mayorquimby2 · 31/03/2020 15:44

😂😂

It's normally the kids posting we have to worry about when the schools are out.

Ritascornershop · 31/03/2020 15:51

I live in Canada, so likely different payscale, but similar public perceptions here. I do know what teachers here are paid, and compared to me and most people I know with one degree, they are minted. So I wish they’d stop banging on about how they’re poorly paid.

Many of the teachers I know went straight from being in school to uni to teaching and have never had full-time jobs that aren’t teaching. So they don’t really grasp what it’s like to scrape by and only get 2-3 weeks off a year.

My kids had a few great teachers. I had zero great teachers, some serviceable ones. We all had horrendous ones who were either useless or cruel. So that colours it. Exposure, as many have said.

Finally, I’m fairly bored of listening to teachers banging on about how they are heroes. A few, yes. But it does tend to come across in a “look at me!!!!!” kind of way that I find distasteful.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 16:03

This beggars belief- when do teachers claim they are heroes..? Is this some parallel universe? Ffs

OP posts:
Ritascornershop · 31/03/2020 16:08

It is absolutely constant where I live. On Facebook, from their union, in the press, all the bloody time.

A few of my best friends are nurses and on a similar payscale, work all hours, all year, and I don’t hear that sort of thing from them.

As a profession, teachers don’t seem to be able to keep their heads down, but that may be because most teachers I know are very extroverted.

Letseatgrandma · 31/03/2020 16:10

It is absolutely constant where I live

Riiiight, of course it is.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 16:15

Yeah that’s what I think too @letseatgrandma

OP posts:
Ritascornershop · 31/03/2020 16:15

@Letseatgrandma Well, unless you live where I do I really cannot imagine how you can say.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 16:16

Where’s the actual evidence?

OP posts:
Ritascornershop · 31/03/2020 16:20

Ffs, yes, I shall spend my morning cutting and pasting from teachers’ personal accounts (how would that work as “proof”), cutting and pasting from their unions’ press releases, from interviews with the press etc.

You’re really not adding luster to people’s impression of teachers, you’re coming across as that bullying kind of teacher who really loved imposing hierarchy way too much.

Carbosug · 31/03/2020 16:21

It's the same here in Ireland. Constant moaning and carping about teachers' holidays etc etc
I'm not a teacher and none of my family are, but it really pisses me off. Some people are so bitter and begrudging of anyone who they perceive as having better working conditions than they have. It's depressing.

YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 16:24

I really like your posts @Ritascornershop. However alternative opinions and actual experiences that are not favourable to the OP are framed as "personal attacks" and not welcome on this thread.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 16:32

YgritteSnow Thought you weren’t going to post anymore because you had nothing more useful to say?

Sorry but I like evidence not some made up nonsense.

OP posts:
Ritascornershop · 31/03/2020 16:38

Again, I have better things to do with my time. It really does not come across well, or improve my impression of your sort of teacher, to say I’m lying. I’m not sure if it’s reportable saying that what I wrote was “made up nonsense”, but it should be. You come across as a defensive bully.

@YgritteSnow thanks Smile I think we’ve all worked with, it been taught by someone like Bulb and we all know intransigent does not begin to sum it up, and self-reflection may not be in her/his toolbox.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 16:39

Yes, ok sure.

OP posts:
YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 16:40

Teachers have the most difficult job in the world. It is not for me! The paperwork alone is ridiculous and as for the precious kids who are so rude and abusive towards them well the Apple don’t fall far from the tree.
Thanks for all you do teachers everywhere as a week with my five has turned me in to a lunatic. Having a class of 30 I’d be running for the hills. Completely understand why people are leaving the profession by the bus load.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 16:46

Spideygirl77 Thank you 😊 this means a lot to us.

OP posts:
YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 16:49

No I'm sure you won't. You haven't responded to anything I have said to you about my experiences, some of which have been positive, except to use them to attack me and label me @bitter and angry", which says a great deal about you I think. So toxic. You weren't interested in an actual discussion or anyone else's experience, just loads of stroking and "oh no you guys are fabulous @Bulb1976". Sorry so many people didn't play ball but that's what you get when you ask for opinions and then show you're true self.

Oh and you'll never hear me using the terms "morons" "idiots" "obnoxious brats". Thats the person you are, a person who repeatedly uses those contemptuous insults against people who disagree with you, and the the children you teach.

I did actually wish you luck and still do because the children you teach would benefit if you grew up a bit I think.
