Why is there so much hostility against teachers on MN?

Bulb1976 · 29/03/2020 16:48

Is it jealousy? The daily teacher bashing threads on here are ridiculous.

Do you blame us for schools closing?

OP posts:
YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 11:44

What are you on about?! The thread is not about children lying. I'm not arguing with the OP about whether children lie or not. It's about wondering why teachers get a hard time. And even if it was about that I wouldn't have to justify my engagement on it with you? Grin. Will you be bossily asking everyone else why they're on the thread offering a different viewpoint too or is that just for me?

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 11:44

liers

FrippEnos · 31/03/2020 11:46

YgritteSnow

But parents saying that their children do not lie is part of the reason why teachers get a hard time.

When someone comes in with that premise it means that the teacher must be wrong, which is not always the case.

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 11:46

And even if it was about that I wouldn't have to justify my engagement on it with you?

Bank to 'teensnet*

Stop derailing the thread by wittering on about lying then.

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 11:49

Someone can't cope with criticism.
Just offering my own viewpoint (or is that exclusively your prerogative?).

YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 11:49

But I haven't...🤷🏼‍♀️ you sound confused tbh. You're the only one wittering on about children lying at this point. I only responded to a person who said they'd never seen it said on MN. To which I said I had seen that particular assertion made, countless times, which I have. I never offered any opinion on whether children lie or not. I'd go back and have a re-read if I were you...

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 11:51

Glad to see you've stopped attacking the OP at least.

YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 11:54

You're not being truthful about what's happened on this thread @OtherVoices. Fortunately the beauty of MN is that it is possible to go back and see everything that's been posted and that you're actually whining at me and hectoring me over opinions I never stated. You seem weirdly obsessed with me and my posts tbh. Lucky @Bulb1976 having her own personal on thread body guard Grin

Do report my supposed personal attacks won't you?

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 11:59

Are you feeling picked in because I'm responding to your posts! (Non aggressively I might add).?
Looks like Bulb has jumped ship but the two of you were pretty unpleasant earlier towards the OP.

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 12:02

non aggressively I might add

Ok so maybe a bit aggressively.

YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 12:03

What, Bulb was unpleasant to herself? Confused.

Your posts aren't really making much sense tbh...

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 12:07

Not Bulb . My mistake- the other one... your backup.
Obvs. Bulb is the OP.

YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 12:08

Oh I don't feel picked on or that you're being aggressive, I'm just finding you a bit tiring and irritating because you aren't actually making any sense and don't seem to realise it no matter what I say in response. Can you just do a re-read to clarify who said what please and fingers crossed you'll get some clarity and stop making yourself look silly Smile

YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 12:09

This is exhausting Grin. I'm going to ignore you from now on if that's alright. Heads and brick walls come to mind.

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 12:11

Read it this way

Looks like Bulb has jumped ship.

The two of you - you and the other poster having a go - were pretty unpleasant earlier towards her.

OtherVoices · 31/03/2020 12:12

Ignore anyone who has a conflict of opinion! Go for it!

WelcomeToShootingStars · 31/03/2020 12:12

I don't blame teachers for schools closing, it would be ridiculous to.

But I also don't think that teachers deserve or warrant any better or worse treatment than any other profession.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 12:13

YgritteSnow After your update I can now understand why you are so frustrated and angry. It makes sense now.

OP posts:
YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 12:13

👍🏻

LeMarais · 31/03/2020 12:14

*Always on the defensive, cannot accept anything they perceive as criticism. Cannot accept that they have behaved in a way that has upset others,... the list goes on.

@OtherVoices, to be honest that is a fair description of Bulbs behaviour at the moment. Her savaging of Pomegranate was uncalled for.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 12:22

LeMarais Ignoring you now. Keep attacking me if it makes you feel better.

OP posts:
YgritteSnow · 31/03/2020 12:28

I'm really not frustrated and angry at @Bulb1976. Certainly no more than you Grin. It was a long time ago and as I said in my previous post we have had the most amazing experience at DD's school, which I am so grateful for, as she is so happy and thriving and it's made it possible for me to return to study. Things were going pretty well all in all until CV.

I've just seen both sides you see and some teachers do not use the power they have responsibly and/or kindly. Throughout this thread my main theme has been that no one is above criticism, not even teachers. Due to my experience of my children with additional needs being shunted around to multiple education providers I have a lot of experience with multiple education professionals in multiple environments, probably more than most parents would, and some of them were brilliant and some were just dreadful, just like any other profession obviously.

I find the references to little darlings and obnoxious brats hypocritical tbh because you're here asking why teachers get a hard time and are clearly bothered by it hugely but are referring to those you teach and their parents in that way - multiple times. I don't see how that makes you any better tbh.

I'm sorry you feel personally attacked, that's not my intention. I'm honestly just going off the impression you give on this thread. You seem angry and resentful in your work. Apologies if I have you wrong but that is how you come across so I won't retract what I have said. I won't post again as I have said all I want to and don't feel I have anything else of value to add. Plus when people start just Making Stuff Up, it's kind of jumped the shark hasn't it?

Good luck.

Bulb1976 · 31/03/2020 12:30

You seem angry and resentful in your work.

You seem angry and resentful with your life. I can understand why though.

Agreed, I think you have said enough.

OP posts:
LeMarais · 31/03/2020 12:32

@Bulb1976, ???
I’m not and have not attacked you. I’ve pointed out that I understand why you’re being so defensive but that it’s really not helping your argument by calling people idiots, morons and telling them to get a thicker skin and not be dramatic.
I have not personally attacked you once.

Makeitgoaway · 31/03/2020 12:32

Doesn't the fact that so many teachers (me included) have been here most of the morning prove that a lot of us are not actually working that hard presently? Grin
