To think everyone is going to get very fed up with all this?

The thought of John Lewis dumping a washer-dryer on my doorstep and expecting me to remove the old (integrated) one and carry and plumb in the new one makes me wonder.

AIBU to think we're going to get fed up with this social distancing malarkey before very long?

(I hate it anyway, as I need people around me for my sanity. And not my teenagers 24/7).

Maybe they're fed up with lockdown, Manchester? Which is kind of what I asked at the start of the thread. Or maybe they have taken a decision based on selfishness. Or maybe they just don't know there's a virus doing the rounds Hmm. Who knows...

Oh for gods sake. I’ve just done 12hr shift as a GP. You really take the Biscuit
If you saw what was going on first hand your issue with a washing machine would seem highly irrelevant.
I must learn not to open these threads

Endoftether, I will say again that I cancelled the order, and that this isn't essentially a thread about a washing machine. It's largely about the MH effects of lockdown (something that you as a GP will no doubt be hearing a lot about for a long time to come).

What with me repeating "I cancelled the order", this thread is starting to sound like the "cancel the cheque" one.

Confused

If today is shit, start planning for another day when life will be in a different place.
That idea generally really helps me but you've put it well into one sentence, and thank you for the rest of your advice, Lifeisgenerallyfun!

Agree that Life gives good advice!

Cantata..I really miss social interaction but more than anything I can’t get my head around the fact that my freedom has gone or curtailed.

It’s not good for my mental health which has been fragile in the past but I’ve worked hard to keep myself on an even keel. Being sociable, keeping in touch with people, all that kind of thing.

Now I’m having to dig deep at the moment.
I know I’m grieving for the life I’ve lost and worried at when it will return..if ever to what we were used to.
Last year I was really quite poorly with constant ibs flares, now I’ve worked hard and got so much better so was really looking forward to the warm weather and getting out and about more, instead of often dragging myself about like I did last year.
I don’t have that many spring/summers left in me..so it feels like a double whammy.

cantata · 01/04/2020 18:09

@Dowser, I'm so sorry that you feel the same. It is horrendous for mental health. Like you, I have worked really hard to keep on an even keel despite a string of absolutely horrendous events, any one of which would have been enough to cast anyone down.

I hate the fact that you can't even hold a door open for a stranger and smile at them at the moment.

Let's just hope we get back to normal as quickly as possible.

I just wanted to say, I hear you, and I think we need to keep on saying this.

I hate suggestions that the lockdown needs to be extended 'by a few weeks' - surely it should be expressed in hours? Surely there should be a daily rationalisation?

“Surely”? No. If we stop the lockdown prematurely, infections will surge again and an enormous number of people will die. Those are the harsh facts - no one likes them, but the virus doesn’t care whether we like them or not.

midwesteaster · 01/04/2020 23:42

I honestly think the daily rationalization currently has to be the death toll and our understanding of the importance of social distancing.
It is stressful and difficult but the alternative is worse.

Sostenueto

13 year old boy died of Covid 19 today in Kings College Hospital in London today and a 19 yr old died today as well. So hang in there folks no matter how fed up you are.

God...I am so sorry

Sorry that was the wine. I thought they were your boys
