We really need some system to punish the rule breakers properly. It's high time a website was set up so that those who are clearly going out of the house more than they should be can be reported to the authorities.

Is there any wonder that names and exact locations of people with the virus have not been released? Can you imagine the reaction of the general pitchfork public if they had that information at hand?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 28/03/2020 12:47

Is every body just rubbing their hands together with glee and spending the day curtain twitching?

No, but I'm very fucked off that my neighbor with the clapped out, very noisy Porsche has already been out in the sodding thing three times today. Why?! And he sits there with engine rebind for 10 minutes. Gives me the rage.

Genderwitched · 28/03/2020 13:11

Wow people are scary, Dh and Ds and I just want to keep our heads down, stick to the guidelines and get through this the best we can.

I didn't clap because not 100% of NHS workers like it, but we are contributing to a group sending cupboard supplies and pizza up to the hospital. If the neighbours judge us for not clapping, or for going out on our evening walk then so be it. But it's a horrible thought.

I agree that some people are enjoying this a bit too much.

Maybe some tweaks to Alexa would make people accidentally report themselves. For those who like being spied on at least.

This happened here a couple of weeks ago. We had our first local case confirmed and some people on the residents group were immediately posting wanting to know who it was and fuming about them bringing it here as if the poor person had done it on purpose. Thankfully they never found out who it was but I'd bet if they did there would have been a brick through the persons window.

if your noticing that phyllis from up the road has gone out more than once today then you need a bloody hobby or find something good to watch on the telly

i havent a clue who comes and goes with my neighbors and ive only got the 7 as we are a row of 8 houses on a mountain

dayslikethese1 · 28/03/2020 15:04

Hmmm where have seen this behaviour before? Shock

Thepigeonsarecoming · 28/03/2020 15:53

Re the Daily Mail thread, they have made it sound dramatic as normal. However the reason the police forces listed have set up a hotline (in reality an online form) is simply because people won’t stop calling them with batshit crazy reports

In reality al those people’s on line reports will just sit there and nothing will be done. In the same article it states that police cannot stop people going out more than once

Hopefully people will be satisfied thinking they’ve got Ethel down the road into trouble after filling it in though and not call them to check!!

My DH is a doctor whilst it is appreciated by a lot of staff that people are aware of the risks they are undertaking it still doesn't change the fact that so many, nurses and drs as well as support staff do not have personal protection equipment. Clapping doesn't actually help them, lobbying the government to provide them with this would.

People who have time to report their neighbours have too much time on their hands. They should consider volunteering to actually help.

Hercwasonaroll · 28/03/2020 16:42

Where are the government going to procure this PPE equipment from? The whole world is after that stuff. Factories are churning it out yet still it can't be ordered.

HarrietThePi · 28/03/2020 17:03

Our family has been sticking to the rules, and I hope that others are doing the same because I know it's the best thing for us at the moment, but really scary how many people seem to relish the idea of living under a sort of police state.
