Why was prince Charles tested?

Dishwashersaurous · 27/03/2020 09:28

Aibu to want to know why Prince Charles was tested on the nhs despite only minor symptoms. Whilst nhs workers are having to self isolate if someone in their family has suspected covid. But can’t get tested

Because he's royal and 'important' and of more value than us plebs

UK class system at its best

#endthemonarchy

RoyalBankOfFuckThis · 27/03/2020 09:31

Because he's a royal obviously.

lubeybooby · 27/03/2020 09:31

he'd been in contact with a known case and of course has access to private medics. He's heir to the throne of course he was tested.

yes it's wrong others especially nhs workers can't have such easy access but that doesn't make it wrong that he was. Our government is handling it wrong.

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/03/2020 09:31

The chief medical officer stated that he met the requirements for testing - my best guess is that probably means he has an underlying health condition which hasn't been made public knowledge.

Tbh given the enormous number of people he had potentially infected I don't think it was unreasonable. They were able tl estimate that he wouldn't have been contagious until after his last event but that could easily have been different

Ishoos · 27/03/2020 09:32

I thought I’d read that testing criteria in Scotland was different? And that he met their criteria?

Lindy2 · 27/03/2020 09:33

I expect because he had known contact with a confirmed case.

He also happens to be next in line to the throne, which incase you hadn't realised, does result in different treatment from average.

I expect there are a number of key politicians, royalty, state leaders etc that are routinely being screened.

somegoodnewsforonce · 27/03/2020 09:33

He met the criteria for nhs Scotland

RedRed9 · 27/03/2020 09:34

He’s a Prince!

As someone said on yet another thread that asked this: “isn’t is weird how he’s being treated like royalty?”

Myhusbandischeating · 27/03/2020 09:34

Because he met the Scottish requirements for testing.

There's another thread started yesterday or the day before.

TrojanWhore · 27/03/2020 09:36

Because he met the testing criteria for the region he was in.

As confirmed in a public on-the-record press conference by the Scottish Chief Medicaofficer, whilst she was standing alongside Nicola Sturgeon.

Are you really branding the CMO a liar?

slipperywhensparticus · 27/03/2020 09:36

He was in contact with a confirmed case and began showing symptoms of course he was tested

I agree the nhs workers need to be tested though but bitching because someone was tested is ridiculous thousands have ben tested including many "famous" people and footballers no one cares until its prince Charles? Come off it if he was a 71 year old man on the street who had been in contact with a confirmed case and was showing symptoms under that authority he would have been tested he simply met the criteria

Porcupineinwaiting · 27/03/2020 09:36

And Camilla? No symptoms yet she still got to the head of the queue. Same old, same old but it stinks.

slipperywhensparticus · 27/03/2020 09:37

Been tested not ben 🤦‍♀️

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 09:38

Because he’s the direct heir to the Head of State? Just an idea.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 27/03/2020 09:38

He had had contact with a known case
He had had contact with lots of other vulnerable people
He was showing symptoms

TatteredOwl · 27/03/2020 09:39

Another ridiculous question

Thatbloodybear · 27/03/2020 09:40

Surely no one is naive enough to think that the royal family don't get health are above NHS standard?

Topseyt · 27/03/2020 09:43

Remember that he is also a superspreader. Surely it would be necessary to advise all of those he has had contact with before he showed symptoms?

How would that be done if he wasn't tested?

BillysMyBunny · 27/03/2020 09:43

Because he’s part of the royal family. Not sure why you would find this at all surprising or questionable.

Newsflash: the royal family are privileged in other ways as well!

StatisticallyChallenged · 27/03/2020 09:43

Can you imagine the uproar if he'd not been tested and confirmed but instead had just self isolated? The palaces leak like a sieve, word would have got out then there would have been panic about how many he'd infected, why were they hiding it...

I think they were damned either way

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 09:45

Newsflash: the royal family are privileged in other ways as well!

What?! Why has no one mentioned this before? Grin

Brefugee · 27/03/2020 09:45

That's not the right question, OP. The question is, I think, why was his wife tested.

Noodlewave · 27/03/2020 09:45

A course of homeopathy should cure him pretty quickly.

Abraid2 · 27/03/2020 09:46

Perhaps because he has met so many politicians/heads of states/the Queen over the last month? And foreign dignitaries might have needed warning. I don't think they'd be amused to return to their own countries not knowing whether or not they had been exposed.

Dishwashersaurous · 27/03/2020 09:46

But normal people who have been in contact with known cases can’t be tested at the moment.

I know that he’s privileged and it’s because he’s royal but I used to believe that nhs resources were on the basis of need.
