Why was prince Charles tested?

Dishwashersaurous · 27/03/2020 09:28

Aibu to want to know why Prince Charles was tested on the nhs despite only minor symptoms. Whilst nhs workers are having to self isolate if someone in their family has suspected covid. But can’t get tested

@NotEverythingIsBlackandwhite exactly this.

Of course he is going to get preferential treatment, I would expect nothing less from our monarchy, the future king of England.

What a pointless post.

rookiemere · 27/03/2020 10:08

Littlecandle NHS workers, shop staff, taxi drivers all meet many people on a daily basis. NHS staff cannot get access to tests even if they are showing symptoms resulting in having to self isolate and reducing number of frontline staff.

Lots of people should be tested because they've come into contact with someone with CV and it isn't happening as there is a shortage of tests and people to carry them out. Camilla should be treated no differently than an asymptomatic member of the general public and perhaps a bit less prioritised than a frontline care givwe.

Porcupineinwaiting · 27/03/2020 10:10

@LittleCandle NHS workers are meeting lots of people too but it's apparently not important that they are tested. Instead they get sent home for 2 weeks if they or someone they live with displays symptoms.

FannyFifer · 27/03/2020 10:15

The travel advice was to remain in your primary residence, he chose to not adhere to that, used the RAF to fly to the highlands with all the members of his party. The close protection team & other staff have all been wandering around a tiny village in the highlands since Sunday. Absolutely reckless behaviour & will be the cause of a lot of people contracting covid -19.
Disgusting.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/03/2020 10:52

Because he met the NHS criteria.

GrumpyHoonMain · 27/03/2020 11:04

It’s disgusting. Bil has been treating covid-19 patients, showed symptoms, but was refused a test and told to self-isolate.

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 27/03/2020 11:56

Boris is positive

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/03/2020 11:58

Same reason Boris was tested I expect

SoupDragon · 27/03/2020 12:00

I imagine being 71 had something to do with it.

🙄

ViciousJackdaw · 27/03/2020 12:03

Britain can't handle "stay at home", I don't even want to imagine the mess if something happened to the Queen now

This, with bells on. If Operation London Bridge came into effect, there wouldn't be anything on the radio or television other than sombre music and programming and right now, listening to the radio is keeping me going.

Mia1415 · 27/03/2020 12:04

Because he is the next in line to the throne and our future King. I can't believe that people are even questioning this.

Bingbangbingbangbong · 27/03/2020 12:10

Are you equally outraged that Idris Elba was tested?

Idris Elba was tested in the USA. He was about to start filming in New Mexico and is self isolating there.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 27/03/2020 12:12

Because equality is a fucking illusion

OmgThereAreNoPlanesAboveMeNow · 27/03/2020 12:15

Because equality is a fucking illusion

It really is. There can never be an absolute equality

Weedsnseeds1 · 27/03/2020 12:15

Both older men, been in contact with known cases ( and lots of other people), have symptoms...

CendrillonSings · 27/03/2020 12:18

Because equality is a fucking illusion

It’s called the United Kingdom, not the Soviet Union, y’know...

SarahInAccounts · 27/03/2020 12:20

Again? This has already been overly discussed.

YABU for bringing it up again.

bellabasset · 27/03/2020 12:20

Prince Charles has been carrying out his duties until recently so many people who have met him need to be aware. The same with Boris Johnson who has been diagnosed.

My neighbour died at the weekend and his symptoms started on 1st March. So it's a responsible move with public figures.

Londongirl03 · 27/03/2020 12:24

Because he is the future King!

Aragog · 27/03/2020 12:24

There is already a long thread about this.

It is obvious why he has been tested.

He is next in line to the throne, as our future king.

He met the testing requirements of the area he was in at the time.

Zombiemum1946 · 27/03/2020 12:26

He met the criteria and is in a vulnerable group (in his seventies and I suspect high blood pressure). For each area of the country the royals are in there is a designated NHS hospital. He's also been in contact with large numbers of people, some of whom are also vulnerable.

AwrightDoreenTakeAFuckinDayOff · 27/03/2020 12:26

He met the criteria.

It is that simple.

CountFosco · 27/03/2020 12:34

Of course he is going to get preferential treatment, I would expect nothing less from our monarchy, the future king of England.

He is also the future King of Scotland (and has more Scottish than English blood) which might have something to do with how he was treated in Scotland.

LittleCandle · 27/03/2020 13:04

@rookiemere - most people working for the NHS are not over 70. FFS!
