...and it comes in the form of 8D music.

A friend sent DH an 8D audio clip this evening. Apparently the technology has been around a couple of years but I’d never heard of it. And now we’ve totally fallen down the rabbit hole and spent the last few hours ignoring each other sitting side by side on the sofa with our earphones in, listening to our favourite songs like we’re hearing them for the first time. I’ve linked a few of my favourites below but all you need to do is go on YouTube and search for 8D music, pop your earphones in/headphones on, shut your eyes and forget about the world and all its troubles.

I have never heard of 8D either but having listened to the Queen link , even without head phones on a lap top renoune for rotten its speakers it still sounded very good .

I believe it’s to do with multi track recording and use of full stereo systems.

Ironically it’s actually a throwback to vinyl and is one of the reasons that has grown in popularity. You can store an awful lot more musical information in one track of vinyl than on more modern formats.

Just listened to I Know It’s Over by The Smiths in 8D. I also had no idea this was a thing. It was even more beautiful than it usually is. Fabulous. Can’t wait to listen to some more of these tomorrow.

It must be a modern thing, when you get used to hearing tinned music it's nowhere near as good as a separates sound system. You can keep it

Sometimes I feel like something is wrong with me, because I just don't seem to "get" music like other people do. Just listened to the Bohemian rhapsody op posted and just thought, meh. I do like some music but could easily go for months and months without listening to any. I generally prefer female voices to male ones which I think is part of it as a lot of the sort of stuff I hear people talk about as being amazing is by male artists.

Actually think I have solved it. This has bugged for years, thinking I'm missing something in my brain that lets me enjoy music the way other people do. I now realise I do enjoy a lot of music, but find most male voices boring. What a revelation.
