...and it comes in the form of 8D music.

A friend sent DH an 8D audio clip this evening. Apparently the technology has been around a couple of years but I’d never heard of it. And now we’ve totally fallen down the rabbit hole and spent the last few hours ignoring each other sitting side by side on the sofa with our earphones in, listening to our favourite songs like we’re hearing them for the first time. I’ve linked a few of my favourites below but all you need to do is go on YouTube and search for 8D music, pop your earphones in/headphones on, shut your eyes and forget about the world and all its troubles.

Am I weird? It makes me feel sea sick..... the sound jumping all around space (in my head or somewhere, I don't know?) like that!

When I was small I got told after hearing/something tests I had great tone perception and got a musical instrument lesson scholarship on that basis which only kept my interest for a year, no idea if this would be it? Or actually if it even existed or was an 80s craze theory of some kind.

I don't have headphones but will try it tomorrow without and see...if only I could sleep first.

What "feels" to me like sliding side to side, side to side, side to side feels especially to me.

Just tried again with another tune, definitely a rollercoaster type feeling...... I'm weird, I knew it!

EnidFromGuernsey No you're not weird, that's how it felt to me too, accept the lion King one, that felt more like surround sound. It's pretty amazing, but I wouldn't want to listen to music like that all the time. I've noticed with some songs, the base, or singing will come from one a speaker at certain points in the car, or with headphones, and I don't like that either. I want it evenly spaced out 😂

This prompted em to finally use my AirPods that I've fought myself ages ago but never got round to using them, I have discovered that a, they're amazing and b, this music is awesome and so soothing for someone like me who on the spectrum isn't coping with this lock down and isolation thing. Thank you OP.

Yes, 8D music is fantastic. Why it isn't publicised more I don't know
