I didn't clap

I had no idea about it! Heard the noisecat 8pm looked out the window and saw people outside clapping but couldn't see why. I'm not on social media and I didn't hear about it. Saw on the news later but I missed it. I do give a care about the NHS but now all my neighbors will think I'm terrible and don't care!

Not everyone could but that's okay its better not to clap than be the idiot that let of fireworks for half an hour. If one day they can't breathe I won't have any sympathy for them.

Hugt · 27/03/2020 18:41

Im an nhs worker and was cooking so didnt clap.

Also while it was lovely, i dont really need people to clap, i just need people to stay indoors!

trafficcarrots · 27/03/2020 18:49

Doesn't mean alot though from Tory voters, and those who still think the rules only apply to everyone else.

annamie · 27/03/2020 18:51

now all my neighbors will think I'm terrible and don't care!

why do I click on these corona threads knowing they will annoy me.

Oscarsdaddy · 27/03/2020 18:53

My other hand clapped and I just took it all in looking and listening

Really emotional

Rachel1874 · 27/03/2020 18:54

I didn't clap, but I didn't want to wake my 1 year old, so stood at my window in silent appreciation. Only one person on my street went out. I think the best way to thank them is to make sure they get pay rises after all this.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 27/03/2020 18:56

I didn't. I didn't see anyone on my street go out either. It doesn't mean I don't care, it just wasn't something I wanted to do.

Aglet · 27/03/2020 18:58

It wasn't about you.

DFAMA · 27/03/2020 19:02

I didn't and didn't hear anything from the neighbours either. Tbh I couldn't see the point, I'm sure the people who work in the nhs would much prefer we vote for a party who will give them better pay and conditions than give them a round of applause.

browneyes77 · 27/03/2020 19:11

I can't work out if this is a parody! grin I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt

No just wondering why people are being so utterly childish. It’s got fuck all to do with politics and everything to do with simply appreciating the difficult job our NHS are doing at this difficult time.

Grow up.

SpeedofaSloth · 27/03/2020 19:14

NHS here. It's virtue signalling, it made me really uncomfortable.

mummyhat · 27/03/2020 19:18

OoohTheStatsDontLie
I didn't either. I kind of think NHS workers would prefer us to vote for a party that will raise taxes and properly fund them...stop missing appointments, or turning up to A and E with a broken fingernail, or calling an ambulance because they can't be bothered...rather than a clap

We’re frontline nhs and I’ve spent the week trying to suppress resentment about the fact that I’d so rather there was enough adequate PPE than people clapping on doorsteps and whooping into the dark.
That said, i think my anxiety is disllowing the joy through so thanks for being able to speak truthfully on here, I haven’t got the heart in rl!
Every time a crap firework fizzled up last night I thought of the cost of ten FFP3 masks😒

icantremembretheartist and coldilox I wish all the very best to your family members - lets just hope it’s over soonFlowers

Totally.

Jack80 · 27/03/2020 19:35

I didn't go out but clapped inside, I am a key worker in a school and I appreciate all. I don't think you have to go on the door step to prove you care.

LadyMary50 · 27/03/2020 19:36

I absolutely agree. My daughter is a nurse, she said she would much rather people just followed the advice to stay the fuck indoors (her actual words)than do self congratulatory clapping. On my community page they were actually naming and shaming the streets that didn’t actually join in the clapping.3 months ago no one gave a shit about the nhs,key workers, checkout staff, carers etc.

mrshousty · 27/03/2020 19:37

I didn't. Not that I'm appreciative or disrespectful but I'd rather clap them in person or toot driving past a hospital or health centre (we live close to one) i put a thank you notice on Facebook and tagged all friends i have on the frontline ie nurses, police, care workers, lorry drivers, fire brigade, shop workers etc

PaleBlueMoonlight · 27/03/2020 19:38

You can want more PPE and still clap. You can vote labour and still clap. You can think that the nhs should be abolished and a different healthcare system introduced and still clap. The clapping was about appreciating our healthcare workers.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 27/03/2020 19:48

Clapping makes fuck-all difference, and this discussion reminds me of those who thought brexit would work much better if everyone "got onside" and believed in it! You can clap from now until bonfire night. It won't stop your old nan from dying if there's a shortage of critical-care beds.

PaleBlueMoonlight · 27/03/2020 19:52

I don’t think anyone is saying that clapping is going to help with the serious practical problems that arise from the pandemic Goaty. That would be asking a lot of clapping.

user1467536289 · 27/03/2020 19:58

I fell asleep!! I work for NHS and I was determined to give this my full support! My husband clapped on behalf of us both

Healthyandhappy · 27/03/2020 20:41

I'm a nurse and worked for the NHS and left. I didnt clap as they made my life hell full of bullying and I wouldn't clap for bullies. However I do think the nhs is an amazing thing and iv been looked after when needed to be. But ye I didn't clap

Susan1961 · 27/03/2020 21:30

It was morale boosting, even though my partner forgot!

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 27/03/2020 22:03

I wish people would lay off the fireworks though? Why? Put that firework money to better use and donate it.

What's next, Chinese lanterns?

Rachel709 · 27/03/2020 22:03

Yes they will hate you.

HollySideEyes · 27/03/2020 22:05

*Yes they will hate you.

I'm sorry what now?
