The people who have fiddled the numbers to avoid paying tax or paying child maintenance. What will they do when they try to claim assistance due to CV?

That’s it really.
If you’ve successfully hidden your actual income from HMRC to dodge paying tax or child maintenance, what are you planning to do?
If you’re the other parent in this scenario, how are you feeling at the moment? Is this karma? Or will it wind up being worse for you and your dc in the long run?
I’m not sure what to think.

I’ve name changed as I don’t want to link this thread to any previous threads regarding my own situation.
Been here a decade. Cutted up pear. Your minge! Grin. Penis beaker yada yada.

I thought exactly the same! They can’t have it both ways can they?

RoomR0613 · 25/03/2020 19:08

Definitely could be interesting...

ExclamationPerfume · 25/03/2020 19:08

I know quite a few who will lose out because of this. What a terrible shame for them. Wink

SeasonallySnowyPeasant · 25/03/2020 19:09

Karma.

Berthatydfil · 25/03/2020 19:09

I have been thinking the same

chocolatespiders · 25/03/2020 19:10

My heart would bleed for DD father who currently pays £19.00 a month!!

milkydare · 25/03/2020 19:10

Oh, what a shame. Grin

Makeitgoaway · 25/03/2020 19:10

I got told off here the other day for having a little chuckle about this...

Mumof2202022 · 25/03/2020 19:11

It will be karma!!

Nmagain · 25/03/2020 19:12

That’s why it’s taking so long to implement. They will be making sure it’s a way they can’t take the piss. I can imagine there are people who claim they only make £12,000 on the tax return but in reality earn at least double that

morethanmeetstheeye · 25/03/2020 19:13

What a damn shame if they get screwed by this after screwing others

PorpentinaScamander · 25/03/2020 19:14

Karma's a bitch isn't it Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 25/03/2020 19:14

I'd wondered this too. All of the people who work cash-in-hand or give discounts for cash - if HMRC are looking to help you financially based on your lost earnings and the lost earnings that you've declared to them are only a token 10 or 20% of what you actually take home....

They'll have no choice at all. Coming clean is only going to see you prosecuted and most definitely won't lead to you getting any more by way of financial assistance anyway.

GuyFawkesDay · 25/03/2020 19:14

Haha be sure your sins will find you out 😆

ChicChicChicChiclana · 25/03/2020 19:22

Very good point indeed.

And it won't just affect estranged parents and child maintenance obviously.

It will affect everyone who skews their actual income deliberately to avoid paying tax.

Good!

Purpletigers · 25/03/2020 19:25

Karma !

NemophilistRebel · 25/03/2020 19:29

The problem is, the ones fiddling books have been doing it for years,

This (hopefully) will be much shorter term and so even if karma did teach them a lesson it will never be enough to make up for all the money they have got away with

Deux · 25/03/2020 19:29

I’ve thought this but more so for those not declaring all of their income and also the IR35era. I guess The universe has a way of rebalancing.

WhatAboutMeeee · 25/03/2020 19:31

I thought the exact same thing GrinGrin

zombieapocalypseisnigh · 25/03/2020 19:31

I've had this discussion with a few people this week. No sympathy at all for people who've been taking money under the table regularly and now have to settle for less taxpayer support as a result.

And no sympathy at all for divorced parents who have done the same, hiding money from their spouses or to minimize the amount of child support they have to pay.

Karma is indeed a bitch.

Barbie222 · 25/03/2020 19:32

Yes, there's a nice bit of karma there. If they have to make claims for lost income, it sort of serves them right if that income is very low.

timetest · 25/03/2020 19:33

This has made me smile for a moment on a very dark day.

starrynight19 · 25/03/2020 19:33

Karma and all that 👍

SouthWestmom · 25/03/2020 19:34

Same. There's definitely some advantages to self employment/small business owners that PAYE don't get. However they also take risk on. Hopefully everyone keeps safe and no one ends up homeless or helpless.

thecatneuterer · 25/03/2020 19:35

Ha ha - yes. That's cheered me up.
