Has anyone been able to get hold of them? My flight (internal uk one) was understandably cancelled and they have offered for me to change the flight or have a refund. I would like a refund but can’t seem to do this on the app or the website, I have emailed and sent a message by twitter and tried calling (I am sure my bill is now more than the flight!) but guessing they might not answer the phone at all now? Should I change my flight to later date and ask for a refund when things quiet down?

Hi @heidbuttsupper, thanka for your reply 😊 I saw your earlier posts, awful customer service (or lack thereof!), but tbh banks are equally bad. I'm with HSBC and haven't been able to get hold of them at all for days. I did book on my credit card. I think I'll try the compensation form first and then try the bank. How entertaining!

heidbuttsupper · 01/04/2020 20:44

Good luck! @MrsMGE I read over the compensation form but there was a check box at the end that I wasn't quite sure about. I can see Easyjet trying to worm it's way out of refunds so I was being extra cautious

Reluctantbettlynch · 01/04/2020 21:37

How many passengers do you think Easyjet had for end of March and whole of April? Give them a chance. The big push for refunds months ahead could put them through, then you will all be complaining about the cost of flights. Worst case scenario you have to claim on travel insurance or chargeback on credit card.
So many businesses will be lost this way to Covid-19. It will be a different country if that happens. Expensive with low employment.

MrsMGE · 01/04/2020 22:08

I just love posts that bring absolutely nothing to the discussion, thank you pp. Truly enlightening thoughts there.

zelbazinnamon · 01/04/2020 22:10

reluctantbetlynch feel free to donate £1k of your own money to EasyJet.

Paddy1234 · 01/04/2020 22:17

I requested a full refund on four flights two weeks ago - still being processed - no money forthcoming yet

Celeriacacaca · 01/04/2020 22:35

Watching with interest as another one who's in the same boat.

heidbuttsupper · 01/04/2020 23:46

Move along please @Reluctantbettlynch

Reluctantbettlynch · 01/04/2020 23:49

Grow up Heidi. People are allowed opinions other than yours.

Hingeandbracket · 01/04/2020 23:54

Both Simon Calder and Martin Lewis have been pointing out the realities of this - of course people can't afford to lose the money they spent on flights, but realistically with every plane grounded and zero income, Easyjet will struggle to repay everyone. Even if they manage it, it will take a long time.
Making it more difficult to get a refund would have been a dick move on a normal day, but if it buys time so everyone gets paid it will have been better than just going bust immediately surely?
I am usually the first to complain about bad service but these are hardly normal times.

heidbuttsupper · 01/04/2020 23:59

Who's Heidi? @Reluctantbettlynch think you've posted on the wrong thread babe

elaine84 · 02/04/2020 08:21

Heidbuttsupper your last couple of posts are making you appear to be a bit of a bully. No-one likes a bully. It's not clever, and it's not cool.

heidbuttsupper · 02/04/2020 10:25

Hi @Paddy123 hope you hear something about your refund soon. There has been lots of activity on the Easyjet Twitter with people in the same situation

NemophilistRebel · 02/04/2020 12:37

What’s best to do with easyJet flights that have been cancelled in the coming weeks?

There isn’t anywhere online that we can request refund now.
Just a reschedule.

However I worry if we reschedule they are probably quite likely to go bust if this continues

LIZS · 02/04/2020 12:49

@NemophilistRebel I'm afraid you are joining thousands of us in same situation.

heidbuttsupper · 02/04/2020 13:56

Sorry @NemophilistRebel no advice for you, it is terribly frustrating. You could try emailing the CEO or tweeting Easyjet. Not sure they are listening though.

I just received an email asking for feedback re my cancellation so have commented about the removal of the refund button. Not sure they will read it but I gave it ago anyway.

Stet · 02/04/2020 14:05

We have Easyjet flights booked but I'm very aware that flight operators are in the shit right now and everyone requesting refunds doesn't make things better. It's not particularly fair but the money is spent now so I will see if we can get a refund when things have settled a bit or if we can rebook, but I'm not clamouring for it right now because I'd rather the company still existed in a few months time than recoup a few hundred quid that's already been spent and accounted for. There seems to be such an urgency about it, which I understand as there's the worry they might go bust, but it's a self-fulfilling right prophecy really.

Branleuse · 02/04/2020 14:08

I just moved my flight to october, because I cant be bothered fighting right now

Reluctantbettlynch · 02/04/2020 20:35

@Stet that's exactly how I see it. My booking is with another travel company, but I am waiting as long as I can. It will be a shame the businesses that don't survive this when it isn't their fault and as usual Insurance has swanned off without paying as Corona isn't a named virus, no shit when it never existed before. Makes a joke of business insurance really.

TurquoiseDress · 03/04/2020 09:44

UPDATE!

Just received refund for entire amount onto my credit card this morning!

ours flights to Spain were due to leave yesterday, they were cancelled 1 week ago, spent over 4 hours on the telephone trying to get through last weekend....never got through.

Gave up and messaged Easyjet on Twitter, they replied on Monday asking for the all the details, then I got another message saying the money would be refunded within 3-5 days.

Nice surprise this morning, I'd recommend trying to message them, the call centre is just a waste of time

heidbuttsupper · 03/04/2020 10:41

What an excellent outcome @TurquoiseDress well done you! That is great news Grin

Celeriacacaca · 03/04/2020 23:43

Great news @TurquoiseDress! I will try in the morning.

NemophilistRebel · 04/04/2020 09:11

We finally got through on phone yesterday and they said we’d get refund within 5 days

Fingers crossed

LIZS · 04/04/2020 09:13

Which phone number worked? Go nowhere on fb.

Justsaynonow · 04/04/2020 16:59

Good to hear refunds are coming through. Air France isn't doing immediate refunds - only vouchers that can be redeemed for cash in a year.

I just received this generic email from Easyjet (I don't have any flights booked with them) and haven't seen anyone mention it yet:

A message from Johan
Dear xxx,

On behalf of everyone at easyJet, I hope you and your loved ones are healthy and safe at this time.

I wanted to write to you to let you know what's been happening at easyJet.

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been working hard to repatriate more than 45,000 customers from across Europe, and we will continue to work with governments to support the ongoing effort to get people home where needed.

However, with our number one priority being the safety and wellbeing of customers and crew, and with the travel restrictions across Europe, we took the decision to temporarily ground all of our fleet of aircraft. This means that throughout April, there will be no easyJet flights operating anywhere on our network other than for repatriation.

If your flight is cancelled as a result of this, I am sorry. Our customer service team will be in touch to let you know how to switch to a new flight, get a voucher or be reimbursed. We are currently dealing with an unprecedented number of calls and are working hard to try and process these as quickly as we can - however, with a number of our service centres directly affected by government restrictions, it may take longer than usual and so we thank you for your patience.

I know that this has been a difficult and frustrating time for many of you who have had travel plans disrupted, who may have waited on calls, or who faced difficulties booking onto rescue flights, so I am sorry if this has been the case.

Rest assured, my team and I are working around the clock trying to ease the disruption as much as we can. I am extremely proud of the way that everyone here, from call centre staff to the crew onboard, has given their all at such a challenging time.

Looking to the future
We’re missing travel as much as anyone and will continue to evaluate when we can start flying again. As soon as we can do so safely, we’ll be back in the skies again – proudly taking you on your holidays, business trips, and weekends away with friends and loved ones.

Until then, I wanted to say thank you for your support and understanding. Please look after yourselves, and we look forward to warmly welcoming you back on board one day soon.

Sincerely,

Johan Lundgren
CEO, easyJet
