Hello, my Mum has just rang to say that there is a large group of people in her alley having a BBQ right now!

This is hilarious, as are the knobs who were picking holes in your thread. They've made the bloody papers. 😂😂😂

Are they Roma or Romanian.
British Romany are all together in their parks now. My cousin has all her family there and have been shut down for 2 weeks now.
The women go shopping once a week for the whole campsite.
Which they own, before anyone suggests, otherwise.
We hold family above anything else and not one of our older people are left on their own. Anyone wanting to move did it about a month ago.

Originalyellowbelly · 24/03/2020 18:35

LittleBoy, no worries, I should have clarified Smile

Maybe they should be right now. I also value family but wouldn't go near elderly revatives unless completely neccessary.

TSSDNCOP · 24/03/2020 19:19

Let's hope one of those shopping women don't carry it back to the camp. It'll be decimated if everyone's in and out of each other's dwelling.

There is no risk, nobody leaves the campsite now, except for my cousin.
She has her own trailer.
The old ones are well cared for.

TheFlis12345 · 24/03/2020 20:07

It was on the BBC news at 6!

ocarinan · 24/03/2020 20:20

So how do you get food?

Although I don't see what it has to do with the thread tbh, the OP didn't say they were Roma.

TSSDNCOP · 24/03/2020 21:16

A cousin leaves. She is presumably kryptonite to CV19.

ocarinan · 25/03/2020 16:07

Hope she shares that kryptonite with the rest of us...

For those unable to read.

TheQueef · 25/03/2020 16:52

Have you all registered with the GP Devlesko do you all have access to healthcare?

TheQueef · 25/03/2020 16:53

Sorry to be nosey but I understand some medical centres can be difficult.

ocarinan · 25/03/2020 19:00

So your cousin buys food for the whole camp? It must be hard when the supermarket shelves are so bare, unless it's not so bad where she is.

ocarinan · 25/03/2020 19:00

Anyway, glad the idiots having the BBQ got fined, whoever they were.

Devlesko · 25/03/2020 19:11

TheQueef

Yes, it's not me and my family we are at our bricks n mortar house.
The cousin and family are on a site they own.
First of all the women were going out, as usual and cultural. Now, cousin goes shopping and has her own trailer away from the others. She's not seeing her kids atm. Then in a couple of weeks someone else's turn. he old ones haven't been out since they joined the family at start of March. So far it's working well, but of course you never know.
They are taking every precaution they can to care for the older ones.
The kids came out of school anyway as Y6 and don't attend secondary, so just came out sooner.

TheQueef · 25/03/2020 19:56

Good to know they have access and are keeping safe. now isn't the time to find out no new registration etc!

Devlesko · 25/03/2020 20:15

TheQueef

There are so many others who are on sites where they have to move every 3 months, I hope they are ok. I hope the councils are allowing longer stays under the circumstances.
My cousin/ family are registered for everything and pay tax/ utilities/ council tax the same as us.
I know you didn't suggest otherwise, but there are lots of different traveller set ups.
Some pay nothing but don't take anything, they are fewer now in this day and age.

TheQueef · 26/03/2020 15:53

Sorry I didn't mean to imply they were off grid I know near to me there is a big undercurrent of racism towards travellers of any sort.

I was imagining people being told to settle for a time and not being able to access medical services.
I hope authorities are handling this sympathetically and that the best advice is doled out.
Times like this tend to bring out the old wives remedies in any community.
