Hello, my Mum has just rang to say that there is a large group of people in her alley having a BBQ right now!

They're Romanian

How is that relevant?

TSSDNCOP · 24/03/2020 14:36

Is she in a town beginning G?

@MrsSnitchnose

MrsSnitchnose · 24/03/2020 14:39

@TSSDNCOP No she's not

Call NATO

TSSDNCOP · 24/03/2020 14:42

Then it is contagious (bit like the reason we are supposed to be indoors)

Delivery driver just told me it’s like bank holiday Monday in the town I live. Non-food shops are open just metres from the Council office, there are street BBQ’s and people sitting out drinking in communal gardens (smaller than parks, cannot be locked).

Lonelycrab · 24/03/2020 14:44

Nothing useful to add or suggest but just want to thank the poster who said “cats bum mouth”Grin

First time I’ve laughed today

YgritteSnow · 24/03/2020 14:44

"They're Romanian

How is that relevant?"

I always think people must scroll furiously through to make sure that's not already been said and then fall over themselves to be the first to say it.

Maybe OP is trying to give a bit of context as to why a group of people might be having a big BBQ on a cold-ish day in March. It's pretty unusual isn't it? Cultural context is not bigotry.

MrsSnitchnose · 24/03/2020 14:45

It would seem so @TSSDNCOP Sad I hate the idea of loss of freedom and I don't want it to get any worse. All things like this are going to cause is more restrictions

@Pishposhpashy
They're Romanian

How is that relevant?

Because they're not under the jurisdiction of the Met police. This is why you have to call NATO and perhaps the Ghostbusters but if you really want to get rid of them QUICK, no questions asked, then you have to call the A-Team... they only take cash though

MrsSnitchnose · 24/03/2020 14:47

@YgritteSnow Got it in one. I deliberately didn't mention it in my OP because I knew very well what was going to happen, and also why I'm not biting. I have absolutely no problem with who they are, just their actions. Would be exactly the same no matter what nationality they were

Set up your own branch of the Stasi. 🙄

Theresnobslikeshowb · 24/03/2020 14:59

Cultural and ethnic background often provides an insight not because people are being horrible, but because most decent people are aware that people do things differently, hence it may explain why it’s not what others would do. People try to make a bloody argument out of a jellybean these days.

Xenia · 24/03/2020 14:59

It is not yet the law but might be worth reporting it so it does not get out of hand.

HannaSong · 24/03/2020 15:11

this your bbq?

Devlesko · 24/03/2020 15:12

I don't see the point in reporting, just stay in so you don't die.

SneezyMcSneezeface · 24/03/2020 15:14

call the papers.

Ninjava · 24/03/2020 15:14

Selfish bastards.

Kraejka · 24/03/2020 15:19

There is no legislation banning barbeques.
O know Boris made his announcement last night but there is no law beyond a polite request to disperse.

FFS. He made it pretty clear last night that groups of more than 2 people are not permitted - it doesn't matter what the fuck they are doing - having a BBQ, shagging in the woods, having a piss up in Sainsbury's car park. He hasn't banned shagging in the woods, BBQs etc but he has clearly stated that people should stay at home and that groups of more than 2 people not from the same household are not permitted to gather.

Therefore a BBQ involving 20 people - who are most unlikely to all belong to the same household - is not appropriate.

Actually I think that's pretty standard british behaviour - as a nation we are pretty notorious for holding bbqs at the first sniff of sunshine regardless of the weather!

SecretWitch · 24/03/2020 15:22

My husband is a state police dispatcher, they receive many calls daily from people who believe they hear their neighbour coughing, going on non essential errands and having family/friends visiting in groups over 10.

Officers are already stretched to their limits. They take the report and maybe do a drive by if time permits.

People must learn to self regulate but probably won’t until someone they know is infected or dies.

MairzyDoats · 24/03/2020 15:22

Is your mum in Foleshill OP? If so it's been shut down: twitter.com/FoleshillWMP/status/1242460673914912770

Sparklingplasters · 24/03/2020 15:22

Are they all from the same household? If so then it’s fine, if not then no.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 24/03/2020 15:23

Oh sorry, same Mayzy's link!

Deux · 24/03/2020 15:24

Maybe our police will get drones. They’ve been using them in Italy
