One of aunts has 2
The other 1
I really like them!

Qgardens · 22/03/2020 10:44

I can bend mine as normal.

chipsandgin · 22/03/2020 10:52

Slightly taken aback - didn’t know this was a thing (not judging btw, we’re all made differently!). My DH and kids all have a massive big toe on both feet (disproportionately large compared to all the others!), it’s very odd - however I’ve always thought it must have been a handy trait 100 years ago if there were ever a paternity debate, no need for DNA tests just look at the mahoosive toes!

Imagine if they had toe thumbs the same!! :)

MeanMrMustardSeed · 22/03/2020 10:57

Yes - me! One is a total toe thumb and the other is half. And they are different lengths. Weird! My grandad had toe thumbs and some of my children do too!

Thumbtoestofu · 22/03/2020 11:05

Wow! There is more of you than I thought.

Also bizarre that some people have one toe thumb and others have two.

This thread is amazing best thing I've ever seen on here! I've never heard of her toe thumb or a murderers thumb but love both the terms

Bezalelle · 22/03/2020 11:46

Toe-like thumbs make me queasy. Not sorry.

YeahRiiiiight · 22/03/2020 11:46

My DD has two of these thumbs. She has asked me a few times why her thumbs are short and fat (she is tall and skinny) and I have no response other than ‘that’s just the way nature made you’. Just been reading about the gene that is responsible online. You learn something new every day! Grin.

My feet are long and bony with long skinny toes. My best friend always says I’ve got creepy finger toes 😆

Sexnotgender · 22/03/2020 11:47

Is this not related to a congenital disorder?

pooopypants · 22/03/2020 11:55

My (non British) DH calls his toes 'foot fingers'

That's not the point of this thread though, is it.....? Hmm

Fantasiaa · 22/03/2020 12:14

Wtf

EthelMayFergus · 22/03/2020 12:25

My sister has thumbs exactly the same as the op's picture. We were told that calling them 'murderers thumbs' was because a man used to be allowed in law to beat his wife with a stick, providing it was no thicker than his thumb. Obviously the thicker the thumb, the thicker and more dangerous the stick would be. (Upon hearing this, at about age 12, my sister and I became feminists.)

Thumbtoestofu · 22/03/2020 12:37

pooopy that’s actually quite sweet!

Urgh Ethel, I’m definitely more of a fan the of toe thumb name now!

Me! I just thought they were short and wide until my GP noticed them when I was about 20 and he said it was a inherited condition. Found out after that my maternal grandma had them but I'm the only one in my huge family who has inherited the gene.

Zombiemum1946 · 22/03/2020 12:49

The person I know said it's genetic. Hers moves as normal but sensation is reduced.

tiredanddangerous · 22/03/2020 12:51

I have no idea why I clicked on this thread; I hate feet

kastelorizo · 22/03/2020 13:17

Me! I loathe them, never have a manicure as I don't want to draw attention to them, they don't always fit in smaller bowling balls either!

MargotSimpson · 22/03/2020 13:22

This was the thread I needed today.

TerrorWig · 22/03/2020 13:26

My right one is like this. It’s been a constant source of embarrassment for me my entire life.

I have no sensitivity or bending problems though and I don’t know why you would?

PreggoFeminist86 · 22/03/2020 13:51

No, but I do kind of have a Thumb Toe. Is that a thing??

It's huge, long, has a noticeable gap between it & the other toes and essentially operates like an extra thumb. I can easily pick up objects with my feet...even Cheerios (very handy when I was heavily pregnant with a toddler running around). I can give a 'Thumbs Up' with it & weirdly, I can also move my little toe independently. I'm basically an ape, and as you can imagine I look bloody gorgeous in flip-flops Grin

This thread is EXCELLENT btw.

Thumbtoestofu · 22/03/2020 15:05

Mmm Preggo I’m going to need to see a picture of your thumb toe!

Sorry Terror I doubt anyone ever notices your thumb, I’ve seen Meghan Fox in films a number of times and only noticed today through it being pointed out to me. And in regards to the bending, I was just wondering if it was exactly like a toe, as I cannot bend my big toe alone IYSWIM.

Want2beme · 22/03/2020 15:17

I had no idea there were so many varieties. How interesting.

A lot of my family, including me, have Morton's toes. Second toe is longer than big toe.

Not my feet.

Does anyone actually have, or now anyone with...
LaurieMarlow · 22/03/2020 15:27

I have a work colleague with toe thumbs. I’m mildly fascinated by them.

My mum has Morton’s toe. She’s always been quite embarrassed about it.

partystress · 22/03/2020 15:39

My DD has one. She has absolutely beautiful hands to the point she’d be a great hand model... on one side. Didn’t know it had a name. MiL had one too, so guess it is genetic.

St0pTryingT0MakeFetchHappen · 22/03/2020 15:39

Yes me! Just one! Is brachydactyly type D
