To report this ASDA worker?

Asda are supposed to be rationing (x3 of one thing per shop) guy behind us buying 6 crates of beer - she says, that's ok I'll just put it through as two separate shops.

Then, she checks how many baby formulas I have (x1) She then says "I've bought loads, I give it to my elderly mother in porridge and coffee because she's vulnerable"

I said, well I have two vulnerable parents and in-laws but I'm not giving them baby formula, it's for babies?? She then said "well I won't begrudge someone buying 6 tins per shop if want it. Their parents could need it too"

I could see her letting people buy whatever they want as long as they put it through as a separate shop (pay twice) but was arsey with me for buying formula for my 5 month old who was with me!

I'm probably being OTT but yesterday we couldn't find milk anywhere after about 8 different shops and I got really scared, I just think she's being irresponsible.

She's really pissed me off. I want to report her but I think that's just because I'm really anxious.

Why would anyone even want to
Drink formula (apart from a baby obvs). It really does not taste nice

Dylaninthemovies1 · 19/03/2020 19:02

@Leaannb actually answered my question

EmmaBridgewater20 · 19/03/2020 19:04

Oh shut up @GrumpyHoonMain daft cow, lets not bring the breast is best debate into this!

ambereeree · 19/03/2020 19:04

Honestly just forget about it. You don't know her situation.

Reginabambina · 19/03/2020 19:04

Was the beeer corona?

Whenwillthisbeover · 19/03/2020 19:20

I’d report her, she’s an idiot. I’m all for a common sense decisions but she’s fucking nuts.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 19/03/2020 19:24

Mind your own business...don't you think there are more important things to be worrying about....get a life !!!

mathanxiety · 19/03/2020 19:33

Yes, report.

Rules are for everyone.

Rosebel · 19/03/2020 19:35

You can of course report her if that's really your biggest worry at the moment but I wouldn't bother. Asda are desperate for staff at the moment and are highly unlikely to do or say anything to risk upsetting the ones they do have. Plus don't you think the management have enough to worry about?
If the guy was behind you how do you know what she said to him, why were you waiting around? And she wasn't arsey with you.

MigginsMrs · 19/03/2020 19:35

Come on @GrumpyHoonMain don’t be a dick. Not now.

mathanxiety · 19/03/2020 19:36

LongDistance it actually is 'bread, milk, eggs'. Essential items, that is.

The cashier has bought loads of baby formula despite not having a baby.

Curious78 · 19/03/2020 19:39

Formula in porridge because that person is old and vulnerable? What's wrong with standard dried milk like coffee mate etc? Ridiculous and thoughtless.

Curious78 · 19/03/2020 19:40

@myusernamewastakenbyme that's not a very nice comment

Leaannb · 19/03/2020 19:49

@mathanxiety Doesn't mean she doesn't need it for her elderly parents at this time

maa1992 · 19/03/2020 19:50

For the breastfed comment, I breastfed for four months and my baby was hospitalised for being underweight because my milk wasn't enough for him.

I already have new mum guilt over breastfeeding not working out and I'm still fairly new to bottle feeding so yes it scares me when I think about how I mightn't be able to buy formula for my baby because people are feeding it to their elderly mums

I didn't report her, but I do think although she's working in the supermarket - she's hardly doing any favours by letting people bulk buy.

OP posts:
maa1992 · 19/03/2020 19:53

@Rosebel she was talking to him over the conveyor belt, like half of his shopping was loaded too so she could talk to him without having to shout etc

Timewastingideas · 19/03/2020 19:55

Definitely report her, we really need the rationing in place and she is not helping (even if she thinks she is). Besides baby milk for elderly where did she get that idea- never heard of it before. It would of really annoyed me.

PicturesOfCats · 19/03/2020 19:58

Yep definitely report her.
That’s definitely what we need.
A non-crime crime report on every citizens long list of transgressions,

Timewastingideas · 19/03/2020 20:00

Also her parents can have something else- if they need it the health services will provide Appropriate build up drinks on prescription. A baby has no alternative but baby’s milk- the baby is a priority.

Timewastingideas · 19/03/2020 20:02

As for breast feeding guilt- I had a similar problem and 12 years down the line my daughter has never needed antibiotics. My only regret is that I gave myself a hard time. There’s more to being a mum than breastfeeding. X

maa1992 · 19/03/2020 20:04

@PicturesOfCats I'm not going to report her to the police!!! I meant maybe a feedback sheet to Asda or something

OP posts:
maa1992 · 19/03/2020 20:05

@Timewastingideas the guilt is terrible, especially in times like this. I think that's why I'm overly sensitive and didn't appreciate the breast is best comments from a previous user x

Madein1995 · 19/03/2020 20:05

The formula milk thing is ridiculous. First off rationing is for a reason so I wouldn't be selling anybody 4 tins for the simple fact that means someone else's baby hasn't got any. Secondly giving her elderly mum formula, wtf? It's literally a babies food. Adults can have uht, powdered milk, drink tea or coffee Black or go without. Not pleasant but barring dementia etc most adults have capacity to understand and I'm sure anyone with capacity wouldnt prioritise their cup of tea over milk for a babies bottle! Babies are one of the most vulnerable groups of all. Report op. Yanbu.

goingtotown · 19/03/2020 20:07

I understood that limited purchases are for essentials so that doesn’t include beer.
