To report this ASDA worker?

Asda are supposed to be rationing (x3 of one thing per shop) guy behind us buying 6 crates of beer - she says, that's ok I'll just put it through as two separate shops.

Then, she checks how many baby formulas I have (x1) She then says "I've bought loads, I give it to my elderly mother in porridge and coffee because she's vulnerable"

I said, well I have two vulnerable parents and in-laws but I'm not giving them baby formula, it's for babies?? She then said "well I won't begrudge someone buying 6 tins per shop if want it. Their parents could need it too"

I could see her letting people buy whatever they want as long as they put it through as a separate shop (pay twice) but was arsey with me for buying formula for my 5 month old who was with me!

I'm probably being OTT but yesterday we couldn't find milk anywhere after about 8 different shops and I got really scared, I just think she's being irresponsible.

She's really pissed me off. I want to report her but I think that's just because I'm really anxious.

lol at those saying report

nothing would come of it....complaints are invalid whilst all this is going on, our head office does nothing with them, can't imagine asda are bothered at all. she will be stressed and at her limit with rude customers

you usually find its the customer who's had the attitude first anyway.....

Buying alcohol in bulk doesn't really matter, where I live, it's the one part of the supermarket that is still well stocked. She shouldn't be buying formula milk to supplement her elderly parents' diet though, that should only be sold for bottle fed babies. There are plenty of nutritional supplements available for adults without the need to deprive babies of vital supplies.

FlamingoAndJohn · 19/03/2020 16:56

It's beer for God's sake. Not basic essentials like toilet paper, milk, soap, but beer. People like you would have loved East Germany, denouncing your way to happiness daily.

She’s not worried about the beer, it’s that the staff member was saying that she had bought loads of BABY FORMULA for her mother.

Longdistance · 19/03/2020 16:57

Seriously? Just leave it alone. It would be different if it was bread, milk, eggs etc.

sunshinemachine · 19/03/2020 16:58

i dont know who u could report it 2 but it would annoy me

MigginsMrs · 19/03/2020 16:59

Who the fuck buys baby formula for an adult, no matter how “vulnerable” they are. It’s fucking rank and costs a fortune!

Cohle · 19/03/2020 17:02

Report to who? The gestapo?

You need to get a grip and stop trying to denounce those around you.

sueelleker · 19/03/2020 17:03

I don't have children, but I've smelt baby milk; and I'd rather drink my coffee black!

bemoreeverything · 19/03/2020 17:05

I'm sorry but this nonsense about it being bought for coffee needs to stop. Is this your actual experience or a copy and paste from Facebook?

Soubriquet · 19/03/2020 17:06

I really don’t know why people are insisting on putting baby formula in coffee/tea/cereal etc

It smells absolutely foul and I would imagine tastes nothing like milk.

I love my tea, but I would rather not drink it all than add formula Envy

Eckhart · 19/03/2020 17:09

You could contact the manager without specifying which member of staff. It's the manager's responsibility to sort this out. Just tell them what you told us, and leave it at that.

She's being an idiot, I agree, but if she's not been well enough trained, she won't be the only one. They'll all need a rocket up their arse reminding of the importance of this.

P1nkHeartLovesCake · 19/03/2020 17:09

Anyone that’s ever accidentally tasted formula would NEVER put it in coffee or porridge as it’s foul plus costs ££. Full fat cows milk is available at £1.20 for 4 pints...you can even freeze it for future use if you’ve the space

Milk is one of things the supermarket did have this morning!

bemoreeverything · 19/03/2020 17:09

They are not. People are sharing the shit out of nothing. Even if the checkout woman did say this, are we actually to believe she is buying up a load of formula for her mum - some people are just shit filled, it's a shame when they meet the gullible.

Cornishclio · 19/03/2020 17:09

That would annoy me too. The rationing is there because there are too many selfish people around who think their needs trump everyone else. Yes I would report her if she is encouraging some customers to break the rationing rules. My sister who works for the NHS found the shelves bare this morning and has had to fit in trawling supermarkets alongside working to get some food for the weekend or if she has to self isolate. Couldn't care less why she wanted the baby milk but 6 tins is greedy regardless of her job or why she wanted it. Some poor mum with a young baby may need that.

DrManhattan · 19/03/2020 17:12

It's a pain when you have to drive round looking for schizz. Yeah she probably does need reporting coz shes not following her employers guidelines but if she was reported nothing would happen anyways.
Try not to get too stressed (and I don't think you would be shopping people to the stasi)

Straycatstrut · 19/03/2020 17:14

but was arsey with me for buying formula for my 5 month old who was with me!

I can't see how she was arsey with you?

I wouldn't care about people bulk buying alcohol. People will survive and be better off without that even though I just got wine Grin

C130 · 19/03/2020 17:25

I would not complain about this. How was she arsey with you?

Khione · 19/03/2020 17:30

beer is not important.

I have put an online order on - I can buy as much red wine as I want - so long as I don't want more than 3 bottles of one type.

With the beer. If he picked up 3 each of 2 different types he would have met the rule.

Spied · 19/03/2020 17:32

Putting through whatever anyone wants as separate 'shops' is really irresponsible.
She's not abiding by the rules and she's part of the problem we are seeing in our supermarkets.
She deserves reporting and reminding of why there are limits at the moment.

PeterPanGoesWrong · 19/03/2020 17:38

If her parent always has baby milk formula as a bit of a top up to ensure they get some nutrition and calories, are you really going to begrudge them it now just because panic buyers have left you short?

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 19/03/2020 17:41

*If her parent always has baby milk formula as a bit of a top up to ensure they get some nutrition and calories, are you really going to begrudge them it now just because panic buyers have left you short?+

Yes, six tins worth of something that’s used by someone who doesn’t really need it and so deprives those who do, absolutely.

Marieo · 19/03/2020 17:47

There are drinks with the correct vitamins and minerals in for the elderly, baby milk is formulated for growing babies.

Krazynights34 · 19/03/2020 17:47

I need to find a cashier that will sell me that much beer!

MinkowskisButterfly · 19/03/2020 17:47

Hell yes I would report her.
