WTF happened to Russell Brand?

I'm just watching his videos on Youtube and he seems (sorry) WOKE as fuck all of a sudden. WTF happened to him?!

OP posts:
OverByYer · 19/03/2020 20:03

Yes @Aparalleluniverse exactly that

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 20:32

I don't know what you are reading into posts or projecting from them - but I see only reasonable and levelled discussion here from todayisnottuesday. Everyone's opinion is equally valid

Thank you. If I want to swear, I will. That does not make me aggressive, nasty or a wanker. As I said, both my parents acted badly due to MH issues - they CAN make people act like arseholes. My Dad didn't manage to get help for his addictions and they eventually killed him. Same with my Mum and her mental health problems - she ended up killing herself. Russel Brand may be a wanker but has shown great courage in trying to address his issues. Most don't.

I'm not going to be take anything too seriously from someone who thinks it's ok to write 'I think RB uses childhood abuse to get attention from women' - that is a fucking disgusting comment to make about anyone who has suffered abuse. 'He made a prostitute cry" - how the fuck do you know comments like that one wouldn't upset him if he read them. But that's OK I suppose?

As I said, I don't believe people who have acted abusively, in part due to complex MH issues etc should be hated for behaviour that they have tried to improve. I don't hate my parents for the way they acted, I hjave compassion for them as they hurt themselves the most. Personality disorders are complex, they CAN cause people to hurt others yes but usually the hate they can project at others is in nothing compared to how much they hate themselves. And so it is compassion and respect I feel for him, if that's OK. If it makes YOU feel better hating someone you don't know for things you don't even know for sure he has done, that's up to you.

My perspective may be different to yours, but it is still valid and people are wrong to try and close down what I saying.

I repeat - if I have posted something unintentionally nasty report it so it can get deleted - or is it not your style to try and get things removed you think may upset others? Noble that is....

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 20:39

And actually - do you know what? I spent a lot of my childhood and beyond trying to get the world to see that my parents weren't bad people who everyone had a right to look down on - they were damaged, vulnerable people who needed just a little bit more help, understanding and compassion than they got in the world.

No one got my point then either, doesn't mean I won't keep trying to maker it though - bad behaviour does not always equal bad person/ ex-piss head/ junkie or any other of the awful terms that have been levelled at him.

Treesthemovie · 19/03/2020 20:47

@todayisnottuesday this isn't actually about your parents, if you want a thread on that you can make one. Russell Brand doesn't seem to have addressed his issues with women at all. He's never given much of a fuck and still doesn't.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 20:48

You said you are a nurse right, that is meant to be a caring profession

Yes, it is and that means caring for everyone, not judging some as unworthy of your compassion due to being 'an ex-piss head/ allegedly making someone

But anyway, coming from a csa survivor who thinks it acceptable to make the comment 'RB uses his childhood abuse to get attention from women' I'm not going to take your attack on my character or profession too seriously.

If you had posted that comment about a female csa survivor/ someone from the me too campaign, especially one with a MH condition, people would quite rightly object to it. RB however appears to be fair game. Ok then.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 20:52

this isn't actually about your parents, if you want a thread on that you can make one

What a lovely comment to add! It's not actually about a certain other posters absent father, or csa either is it, yet I had both levelled at me to try and show me why my perspective was wrong....

So I offered the background to my own views to TRY and make the point that people have different views based on their own experiences in life.

Notredamn · 19/03/2020 20:52

I can't knock him for his wordsmithery and charisma but I don't buy into the self-styled guru, ultra spiritual, ultimate enlightened one stuff because it reminds me of someone similar I know and that is the first sign she's heading for another mental breakdown. It's actually scary how many end up at this destination and it's treated as something healthy because the addiction is no longer alcohol/drug abuse/sex.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 20:55

Russell Brand doesn't seem to have addressed his issues with women at all

And you know - fuck off with that view.

I am not a fan of abusive men, but reading comments like 'he uses childhood abuse to get attention' is fucking sickening whether it's a male or female being discussed.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 20:57

It's actually scary how many end up at this destination and it's treated as something healthy because the addiction is no longer alcohol/drug abuse/sex

I personally think an addiction to the sound of your own voice/ even God is probably preferable to one to crack cocaine or heroin. Perhaps that is just me though.

Treesthemovie · 19/03/2020 20:59

@todayisnottuesday

Fuck off with that view? Excuse me? Confused

He hasn't really addressed his shite treatment of women over the years, he even said recently he is too spiritual to look after his own kids or change a nappy so leaves it all to his girlfriend.

Also you keep using words like he "allegedly" did this or that - he's confessed stuff in his own words.

Notredamn · 19/03/2020 21:00

today so do I 🤷🏻‍♀️

Notredamn · 19/03/2020 21:01

Still a side effect of a severe illness though and very sad.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 21:03

I said I volunteered with rape victims, and she said "do you want a prize

Actually, what I said was 'and that IS something really admirable. But you sound like you want a medal for it or something'

Because you DO - you are taking the 'I am a good person, he is a bad person' line which I think is way too simplistic. If saying that makes me aggressive and nasty then so be it.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 21:09

Treesthemovie

Excuse me? Really.

On a thread where personality disorder/ MH issues/ addictions come up, I make the point that I perhaps have a different perspective because I lost my parents to addiction and suicide and therefore find it hard to write people who have suffered similar/ behaved badly off as intrinsically bd people.

Only to be told it's not about my parents and to start a thread on them. Which was such a nice thing to say. So please knock off the shock at being told to get fucked, you deserved a much worse comment really.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 21:12

Still a side effect of a severe illness though and very sad

Not on here it isn't! He is simply a cunt who uses csa just to get attention...

Horrible.

Notredamn · 19/03/2020 21:15

I hear you, today Flowers

BelleharePenguin09 · 19/03/2020 21:19

todayisnottuesday

Your sweary aggression is not helping your case. Hmm

Treesthemovie · 19/03/2020 21:24

@todayisnottuesday I stand by my comment, the thread isn't about your parents. You were taking things way off topic.

You're also totally overlooking any of the actual points I've made, and adding your own, again irrelevant, ramblings.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 21:27

I hear you, today flowers

Thank you - Flowers

Your sweary aggression is not helping your case

Well that's just tough fucking shit that I couldn't really give a flying fuck about tbh. If you find swearing so offensive, try net mums, it has a nice little filter on it to censor the adults using it....

Treesthemovie · 19/03/2020 21:27

Being an addict doesnt make you treat women and speak about women like utter shit, sorry it just doesn't.

@todayisnottuesday haha. The irony of you calling anyone an insensitive cunt is clear to anyone reading. Grin

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 21:35

He has treated men AND women badly in the past so why make it such feminist issue?

Addiction can make people act badly to other people. Shocker that eh! But yeah, lets all take the piss out of someone who has tried to address his demons. Lets all call his csa admission attention seeking instead of brave. Disgusting double standards on here.

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 21:36

Clearly not given some of the comments on here and PM's I have had. But bigots will be bigots ....

todayisnottuesday · 19/03/2020 21:37

Officially bored now, but MN, please delete the 'RB uses childhood abuse to get attention' comments if you truly are behind the me too and similar campaigns....They are disgusting.
