I'm just watching his videos on Youtube and he seems (sorry) WOKE as fuck all of a sudden. WTF happened to him?!

Mummyshark2019 · 18/03/2020 21:50

Need to Google woke

todayisnottuesday · 18/03/2020 21:52

He hurt loads and loads of women

Yes, and that is unpleasant, he was diagnosed with BPD though (and was abused as a child) and that does cause huge difficulties in relationships, doesn't necessarily make him a bad person though.

todayisnottuesday · 18/03/2020 21:53

Even Gwynneth Paltrow.

No, sorry - that is too far.

GulliBelle · 18/03/2020 21:54

What Bloomberg said.

mindproject · 18/03/2020 21:55

I've watched him for many years. I commented on one of his videos once, he read out my comment and laughed at my joke.

I agree with some of what he has to say, he sometimes gives good advice, he waffles on too much and doesn't always make sense. I still haven't decided if he's in the illuminati or not, he says not, but that's what they all say.

angell84 · 18/03/2020 21:55

@todayisnottuesday yes but some of the things that he has done and said to women, are just beyond cruel.

I was also abused as a child, and I have never made a prostitute cry, pushed women into threesomes that they didn't want to do etc.

He seemed to really enjoy hurting women

AudacityOfHope · 18/03/2020 21:55

He is still the same underneath: under the impression that everything he says is new and stunning and we're all waiting to hear from him on societies biggest crises. He's just tried to make it a bit more seemly than actively swinging his balls in our faces.

Stroller15 · 18/03/2020 21:56

I watched his Corona virus video today and thought it was quite good! He spoke very well and had some good points.

It also doesn't excuse him from being a pretentious twat.

bluete · 18/03/2020 22:00

I thought he was a Buddhist. He did a BBC program on Jack Kerouac back in 2007 and spoke about his own interest in spirituality and Buddhism then, I think he just takes it more serious now.

TheRealHousewife · 18/03/2020 22:02

I used to love RB, that was until I heard his personal hygiene was lacking 🤢

Shimy · 18/03/2020 22:03

Woke means super aware and super sensitive to all the issues of people in society.

That’s sounds like a very stressful situation.

Bezalelle · 18/03/2020 22:05

There's nothing more tedious than a reformed piss-head who thinks they've found enlightenment.

PinkiOcelot · 18/03/2020 22:07

I’ve voted YABU, because WTF is woke?! It’s hasn’t really got a meaning!

absopugginglutely · 18/03/2020 22:07

I find he hangs all of his pontifications on way too esoteric assumptions so he always loses me from the off.

Sad really because I think he has a gift for communication and I do rather love him. (read his books etc)

I just wish he would turn that clever brain to questioning all of the cults he seems so fond of (12 step being one of them).

lazylinguist · 18/03/2020 22:07

So basically he used to be an irritating, self-centred, attention-seeking arse and now he's an irritating, woke, 'spiritual', attention-seeking arse. He's very unfunny and has a spectacularly annoying manner.

username108 · 18/03/2020 22:08

I quite like him- i've always had a crush on him Blush. I had no idea he has BPD though!

I doubt he'd want excusing for being a pretentious prat.

My point was - having BPD often causes behavioural and relationship problems. As can addiction problems. they do not necessarily make those with either 'bad people.

He is now older and seems to have mellowed, he also seems very self- aware, I imagine he had to put a lot of work in to gain that insight. I applaud and and admire anyone who has addressed their addictions and MH issues in the way he has. I also think he has a lot of wisdom to pass on and am glad he seems to be using his platform in this way.

Absolutely spot on, and very funny

Confusedasusual78 · 18/03/2020 22:13

He’s always been like that 🤷‍♀️😂
Speaks sense a lot of the time, but can get too wordy.

FrivolousPancake · 18/03/2020 22:13

Typical of the mumsnetter majority to dismiss someone like him.

Ha, yes

todayisnottuesday · 18/03/2020 22:13

reformed piss-head who thinks they've found enlightenment

That is just nasty.

He was abused as a child, and ended up an adult with MH and addiction problems. As did probably a lot of those PEOPLE you'd dismiss as 'a piss-head'.

overnightangel · 18/03/2020 22:16

Has an undeserved sense of self-importance and zero self awareness

todayisnottuesday · 18/03/2020 22:16

Absolutely spot on, and very funny

Yes - hahahaha - hilarious, denigrating people with MH issues who have had the courage to tackle and address their issues.

angell84 · 18/03/2020 22:16

@todayisnottuesday I don't buy that.

As I said many of us were abused as children.

I didn't make a prostitute cry because I was so awful to her.

Being abused as a child is not an excuse!
