I’ve just been going through my cupboards and found this beauty - cannot see anyone eating it and nobody knows its origins??!
Where did it come from? Who bought it? Sounds vile

We have a monthly beer delivery so our drinks selection is full of random delights such as blood orange sour ale, mango IPA, tropical pale ale, raspberry milkshake IPA... DH and I will try a crazy one now and again just for fun so they'll all be tasted eventually. The normal ales and lagers will definitely vanish first though.

juneo63 · 19/03/2020 22:59

We have a tin of jackfruit! That no-one has plucked up the courage to try!! 😂

Scorpio75kaz · 19/03/2020 23:06

@Fr0g I’m not sure - will look tomorrow 😂

NoMoreDickheads · 19/03/2020 23:08

I had Marmite flavour rock once- that was pretty nasty. Come on @Polkadotpjs , one of you has to try it and give us a review Smile

Mumdiva99 · 19/03/2020 23:13

@chardonnayspetdragon was it like this? www.olivemagazine.com/recipes/meat-and-poultry/ras-el-hanout-spiced-leg-of-lamb-with-aubergine-pilaf/ if so thanks for the tip. (I love lamb and Ras al hanout...just never done a leg like this with pomegranate) But I would hate to waste lamb on a not great dish.

Mumdiva99 · 19/03/2020 23:14

@juneo63 jackfruit can be used in BBQ sauce like pulled pork.

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/03/2020 23:23

How funny jackfruit is mentioned.
I used it in curry tonight for veggie Dd.
(Bottom left)
She loved it, I just had a wee taste as I'm omnivore so let her have it.

Friends brought us a hamper of French food with a tin of Duck's gizzards. I think I am supposed to fry them like lardons(?) If we get as far as eating those, I'll let you know - or actually the earth may tremble.

Rachel709 · 20/03/2020 00:31

My oh would eat that. Today he bought tinned chicken breast 🤔😳😲😱

angelfacecuti75 · 20/03/2020 01:07

Chop it up , fry it and put in pasta with cheese sauce.

Sissymate2 · 20/03/2020 01:24

@IHaveBrilloHair
What a lucky daughter you have! That plate looks delectable and so healthy.

managedmis · 20/03/2020 01:28

Green lentils

Sissymate2 · 20/03/2020 01:44

A while back, I asked DH to please pick me up some popping corn as I was in the middle of the famous Alphabet Street parking thread......he came home with this big boy from Costco....at the end of civilisation , we'll probably still have a few kernels left🙄🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 it says on the back that the jug contains 93 servings😂

I've cooked with Jackfruit a couple of times - its really nice. It's one of those things that is very bland, but takes on the flavour of whatever you cook it with.
I don't normally like veggie "pretend" meat, but Jackfruit's texture is great - often used for pretend pulled pork. Probably lots of recipes online, give it a go,

Thepigeonsarecoming · 20/03/2020 02:21

I have a tin of mixed beans (kidney etc..) circa 2001 found lurking at the back of my cupboard. I have no idea where it came from...maybe it was here before I moved in, maybe it’s always lived here 🤷‍♀️ Anyhow it’s free to a good home, I hate the little beanie b*stards!

HerRoyalNotness · 20/03/2020 02:28

A trio of hot sauce MIL sent over from the UK. We live in Texas, tripping over hot sauce wherever we roam.

NeckPainChairSearch · 20/03/2020 02:28

I've looked...there's not really anything I wouldn't eat Grin. There's stuff I dislike, but I know that most things can be made to taste okay.

For example, I've spotted an old jar of lime marmalade. I'd hate to eat the stuff, but I could stir into a curry or marinate some chicken in it or something, no problem.

BrightlightsSmallvillage · 20/03/2020 03:07

Answering for my mum: babysham/snowball circa 1975. John smiths, buys more every Christmas despite all males bringing their own beer to avoid having to drink it. Mock turtle soup, wtf is this? I don't know, my mum definitely doesn't. Fray bentos pies, been there since we stopped going camping in 1984. Chutney. Oh so much chutney. The scourge of anyone who's customers gifted hampers at Xmas. I could literally go on all day...

Sissymate2 · 20/03/2020 04:25

@BrightlightsSmallvillage
Ewwwww, just ewww with that mock turtle soup.

@BrightlightsSmallvillage
It's probably left over from the 18thcentury🐢

Justsocross · 20/03/2020 04:45

A packet of mr brains faggots in my freezer . I would die. before eating them. I’ve no idea how they got in my freezer ! Confused

peachsquish · 20/03/2020 07:00

The freezers in Iceland still seemed pretty full of Slimming World meals.

Solasum · 20/03/2020 08:10

Anyone who has chickpeas and doesn’t know what to do with them, drain, rinse, dry, put on baking tray with a little bit of oil and salt (and spices if you like them), roast for about 20 minutes medium oven. Crunchy roast chickpeas. Yum. Even kids will eat them in my experience.

Can also be done with kidney beans.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 20/03/2020 08:13

smittenkitchen.com/?s=chickpeas

Have a look for anything with chickpeas.

Polkadotpjs · 20/03/2020 08:15

I've also got some broad beans ina tin. Used to buy some nice edamame bean salad in a soy dressing and wonder if I could recreate that using the beans?! I'm actually hungry now as I like a lot of the things mentioned. Oh but then I remember the tinned snails and I'm not hungry again. Yak
