Stood by closed checkout 1 about to put join queue to checkout 2.

Checkout one opens and 2 people in queue 2 stay put, I then start putting my goods on checkout 1 conveyer belt. Two people from queue 2 then transfer their goods from conveyer belt 2 to conveyer belt one, in the gap ahead of my goods. I was taken aback but said nothing, women behind me rolls her eyes at me.

Women transferring goods then says to me quite irritated “can you move your things back because I can’t fit all my stuff on” I say “that’s because I put my things on before you did” she then gets all angry and says “I was actually ahead of you in the other queue and you pushed in, but if it means that much to you, you can go in front of me if you like?” I said as I reached for shopping bags “it doesn’t, that’s why I didn’t say anything?” she continues “well it obviously does as you are saying something now!” Which I ignored.

Did I push in as I would usually let queuing baskets ahead of me if a new till opened Grin

Whoever gets to the newly opening aisle first, is the first in that new queue. YANBU.

BodiesMakeForGoodFertiliser · 14/03/2020 10:14

Do you mean a 1st world problem?
Quite sure 3rd world problem isn't few words exchange over a till position....

MadameBee · 14/03/2020 10:15

Yes sorry Grin

OP posts:
MadameBee · 14/03/2020 10:16

I have requested title change ....

OP posts:
Hugglespuffed · 14/03/2020 10:16

Definitely not a 3rd world problem!!!

But yanbu

TaTuirseOrm · 14/03/2020 10:17

Of course it's who ever gets to the new till first, ywnbu

MadameBee · 14/03/2020 10:20

I always gesture to other baskets 🤷‍♀️

Beesisabuzzin · 14/03/2020 10:21

She's a crazy woman. YANBU.

RaisinsRuinEverything · 14/03/2020 10:21

They shouldn’t have put their stuff in front of yours. But as others have said, a new till is a free-for-all!

Notthetoothfairy · 14/03/2020 10:22

You were first in the queue!

bobbieflekman · 14/03/2020 10:22

Yeah you snooze you lose when it comes to checkout queues everyone knows that YWNBU

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 14/03/2020 10:24

Nah, she could have stayed in queue 2, assuming that wasn't closing? YANBU. If her till was closing, I've got splinters up my bum.

diddl · 14/03/2020 10:40

This is why it would be great if there could be one queue & everyone went to the next available checkout.

Obvs not workable though.

Yup-it's everyone for themselves!

So did the stuff that was put in front of yours get moved & you stayed first in the queue?

MadameBee · 14/03/2020 10:41

No I shoved my stuff back

OP posts:
MadameBee · 14/03/2020 10:41

Then we had to stand there awkwardly in the queue 🤣🤣

DontCallMeShitley · 14/03/2020 10:41

Lidl is the only supermarket I have been in where people with a few items only will simply walk in front of you in the queue and then look round and ask if you mind.

I always let people behind go first if they don't have much but feel like saying yes I do mind, go to the back of the queue.

Never happened anywhere else.

diddl · 14/03/2020 10:44

"No I shoved my stuff back"

Oh good!

Hingeandbracket · 14/03/2020 10:47

Off topic but has there been some kind of woke adjustment in use of "woman" and "women" I don't know about? I mean like using the plural pronouns for people who don't identify as a binary gender?

MadameBee · 14/03/2020 10:47

Eh?

OP posts:
RaisinsRuinEverything · 14/03/2020 10:48

Next time - don’t leave a gap! Grin

MadamePewter · 14/03/2020 10:48

New Lidls have got self service tills which avoids the awkward few items problem. 😃

But YANBU

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 14/03/2020 10:49

OP, you used the plural, hence (fake) confusion

MadameBee · 14/03/2020 10:49

Yes leaving the gap was a schoolgirl error.

OP posts:
Theweasleytwins · 14/03/2020 10:52

Clearly she isn't a regular Lidl/Aldi shopper
First there first served😁

Hingeandbracket · 14/03/2020 10:54

As far as I know
Woman=1 person
Women= more than one

I was wondering if it's been changed and I didn't know as "women" for one person seems to have cropped up a lot on here lately and I am often out of date.
