My smell

So this man i know says he can 'smell' where a woman is in her monthly cycle. Is he full of shit? Or does anyone know any men who can genuinely sense this?

I know someone who claimed he could smell when a woman was on her period. He said he couldn't smell blood, but just that the woman's odour changed.

Dh always told me that I smelt different when I was pregnant. Just sniffing my neck. He knew before the pg test.

Pretty sure most non-medically trained men think the menstrual cycle has something to do with the moon, so the likelihood of him being able to explain "where you are in your cycle" in words, let alone smell it, seems remote.

When I am on my BO is different/stronger and I have to shower in the morning. When I’m not I shower at night just because it saves time and I don’t smell. This bloke might be able to smell different body odour rather than blood.

I had an ex who said he could tell because my neck/pheromones smelt different

All sorts of things affect how we smell. It depends on how good someones sense of smell is to be able to distinguish the difference. Dogs have a much better sense of smell and some can sniff out tumours, oncoming seizures and various other conditions.

I can tell when a woman is having her period if she's using any of the scented or 'odour control' varieties of external sanpro. Because they ming.

I wish dh could smell where I was in my cycle, it would save so much in ovulation tests.

There is a woman in Scotland I think who can smell Parkinson's.
I can smell if bread has gone off before there are any visible signs.
So it is possible....

My DH claims I smell different right before I'm due. Weird.

I suppose the question is: why would he tell you this? Is it supposed to impress you?

My university did an experiment where the women were t-shirts for a period of time (can't remember how long) and the men smelled them to try to guess where they were in their cycle. A statistically significant number guessed correctly.
If you think about it, it would make sense from an evolutionary perspective for men to be able to work it out!

You can definitely smell some people. A woman I worked with had poor hygiene and was made worse when it was her time of the month. You could smell her it was dreadful.

I can smell other women during their period.

Not just the blood (rank) but a different smell they give off too .

My DH can tell when I'm due on, I don't keep track of my periods but he always gets really clingy when I'm due on. It's a way we tell, he will be alright needy pain and then we will both suddenly realise I'm due. He doesn't say he can physically smell stuff but it must be unconscious reaction to pheromones.

I can smell some people also. it does depend on hygiene and I am hyperconscious of it for myself and when i have my period I carry baby wipes and give a very thorough wipe when going to the loo.

A colleague has very bad hygiene.... she tells us she only washes her hair once a week and she has a bath every couple of days. When she has her period it is very very noticeable.

Prokupatuscrakedatus oh I can do that with bread too. It gets a kind of acidic smell before the mould grows! I can also smell if tea has sugar in it.

Oh, and my horse used to be extra protective of me when i had my period, He would try and keep people and other horses away from me.

I have a very strong sense of smell, I can smell when someone is due/on a period I can also smell a menopause smell, my mum has no sense of smell so from being very small I was smelling things for my mum,

Women are supposed to be more attractive to men when we are ovulating in the middle of the cycle (day 14 approx). This doesn't happen when on the pill though. Best to find a man first, then go on the pill- that's what the science says.

I have a sensitive sense of smell, and yes, people do smell different at various points in their cycle. Sadly I have also, on rare occasions, smelt cancer, and can notice a change in smell when people are having chemo. So I do believe it is possible for your DH to be able to do this.
