Summer is a popular time for many families to go on holiday. But will you cancel this summer due to uncertainty regarding the virus and possible cancellations?

I am due to go to Cambodia, and back via Hong Kong, for 5 weeks this summer - I could not have timed it worse! At the moment I don't know for sure either way, I am hoping a decision one way or the other will be easier to make nearer the time

Jespers · 12/03/2020 13:32

We had plans but hadn’t booked, now eating to see til after Easter what happens...

Charlottejade89 · 12/03/2020 13:33

Nope, weve got our honeymoon booked a week in kefalonia beginning of July and nothing will stop me going. I think tbh the Corona virus will have peaked by then and will be in decline

MissBax · 12/03/2020 13:33

We have plans to drive (overnight ferry) to one of the eurocamps in northern France beginning of June. No idea what the hell to do, I'll be gutted if we can't, although totally understand it's a string possibility and fully onboard with reasons why.

HilaryBriss · 12/03/2020 13:33

My holiday is already booked for May so I won't be cancelling unless we are advised not to travel to that location - otherwise I will loose my money as insurance won't pay out.

drspouse · 12/03/2020 13:35

We have a UK cottage holiday booked, unless we can't get there (e.g. we need to stay in a hotel on the way) we'll go and do lots of walks and beach days.

Hmmmm88 · 12/03/2020 13:36

We're due to go to a large haven site 4th April. Due to such a big shared area arcades, entertainment room, swimming pool ect it's looking unlikely we'll go 😞

PinkiOcelot · 12/03/2020 13:37

I’m going away in July. I’m hoping by middle of May, when we need to pay the balance, that we’ll know what is happening.

GloGirl · 12/03/2020 13:38

We have a caravan holiday planned at a small site in August. It is likely we will still go ahead but it is isolated. I will be keeping up with the news and making a decision nearer the time.

GoofyIsACow · 12/03/2020 13:39

We have two weeks booked in Italy! Not doing anything yet except starting to worry a little!

lastqueenofscotland · 12/03/2020 13:41

I was planning on a big trip to the euros which I would be amazed if now goes ahead.

Needtobepositive · 12/03/2020 13:41

We are off in August. Hoping it will all have died down by then but we will go unless advised not to I expect. We do have a high risk child with us so maybe we will
Change our minds but I don’t think we’d get our money back unless we are told not to go?

Shutityoujamtart · 12/03/2020 13:42

We are going in July and will still be going.

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 12/03/2020 13:44

Does everyone have insurance? Or will the venues refund? Or all you be happy to write off the holiday costs?
I am wondering what to do about the holiday I have booked in a few weeks

Fluffybutter · 12/03/2020 13:46

Someone already asked this about 3 days ago..
No , why would I cancel something months in advance .
So much can happen between now and then and if you cancel now then you will get no money back.
Booked last year

caperplips · 12/03/2020 13:48

we have cancelled the trip to Italy planned for May.

We're planning to go to Estonia in July or August - I'm glad we've nothing booked yet as now we'll just wait and see how things pan out over the next couple of months.

I would not travel at the moment as things are moving too fast for my liking and I would be nervous of travel bans etc and not being able to get home.

Hahaha88 · 12/03/2020 13:49

We're going in September. I'm still going to go unless travel is officially cancelled. In fact we haven't even booked yet, I'm waiting til closer to the time in the hope costs will drop as people are scared off traveling and then we will get a good deal 💪

sparepantsandtoothbrush · 12/03/2020 13:49

We're supposed to be away at Easter (uk) and in the summer (Europe). I'm not feeling too hopeful for the Easter holiday but hope it's all "blown over" by the summer Sad

Jurassiclover · 12/03/2020 13:50

I'm off to Majorca end of April - won't be cancelling unless FCO advise against travel.

Hahaha88 · 12/03/2020 13:51

@YesIDoLoveCrisps you'll only get the money back via insurance and only if the WHO bans travel or the airline cancel all flight's

shinyredbus · 12/03/2020 13:55

We are going to Dubai and Asia in July -august. We will see how it goes.

DieSchottin93 · 12/03/2020 13:56

I've got a UK city break for mid June and a three-day northern Europe/Scandinavia trip planned for July. Both trips are to see my favourite band so I'll wait and see if the concerts are going ahead first of all hope so otherwise I'll need to rethink DB's birthday present and then make my decision. I'm hoping by June/July the situation will have improved though.

leftovercoffeecake · 12/03/2020 13:56

We’re booked to go on holiday in May. We won’t be cancelling unless we absolutely have to.

MulticolourMophead · 12/03/2020 13:57

I can't afford a holiday this year, just planning a few day trips instead. Single parent to a non-paying ex (because he's a twat who's linking money to actually seeing the DC, they don't want to see him).

We do like going for long countryside walks, so less chance of meeting people I guess. We're not likely to be visiting busy places.

No offence but this sounds so much like the introduction to a tabloid puff piece. Are you a journalist? "Summer is a popular time for many families to go on holiday" Grin Grin Grin
