Summer is a popular time for many families to go on holiday. But will you cancel this summer due to uncertainty regarding the virus and possible cancellations?

We have a cruise booked for June. One of the ports is Venice. I am quite prepared to be told that we won't be stopping there.
As a ' thank you' for not cancelling our trip. The cruise company have given us £600 to spend on board. We increases our on board credit to almost £1000.
We enjoy the days at sea anyway..

At the rate countries worldwide are closing their ports to cruise ships I think it’s good you like days at sea because it’s highly likely you will spend most of your trip at sea. And I suspect you don’t really understand much about the virus and the reality of being on a cruise under these circumstances.

You will shout the loudest though if you do become ill.

The way the U.K. is going about dealing with the virus, many countries will have a ban on U.K. citizens entering the country.

We have a holiday booked in Italy in July and really hope we can still go but who knows?

Dieu · 14/03/2020 08:00

I'm due to go to Rhodes in July. I had originally booked through Thomas Cook, and by the time I rebooked, the prices had shot up.
So unless the official advice is not to travel there, we'll be going. It's not a loss I can afford to suck up.

Davidbowiestrousers · 14/03/2020 08:02

Just cancelled our holiday to UK a park,

MsMiaWallace · 14/03/2020 11:55

We've booked to go Zante end week of July.
Also originally with Thomas Cook too.

I'm really concerned but haven't cancelled.

Jespers · 14/03/2020 12:00

Yes, we were going to France but hadn't booked it. No way we'll be going I would imagine.
We're in a nice seaside town though, people come here on hols, so we'll probably stay put or book a last minute UK break if we can. We won't be getting on an airplane for a while.

Jespers · 14/03/2020 12:01

I agree that countries may ban US for coming because of the ' we're not testing people, keep schools open, carry on' response from our government.

We are looking to book today for September. It’s deposit only and there are some good deals floating around.

We have booked for Italy in July, if we can still go we will but I am not optimistic. Whenever this is over I will be making a point of supporting businesses and places that were most affected. (Although we are pretty certain DH will lose his job and my employer may have folded by this time next year...)

We are booked to go to France, Germany and the Netherlands in the July. I think we have free cancellation on our hotel bookings and we haven't paid anything yet. We have paid for our ferry and the Eurotunnel up front. I guess we might lose money on those as we hadn't organised travel insurance yet. Playing it by ear. I hope by mid July things might be better.

We have very big tour through France and Spain booked via ferry then driving at the end of April. Have resigned myself to no longer going over the last couple of days.

Spain is currently in a dreadful position. Panic buying is at least as bad as here and with bars, restaurants and even beaches closed it wouldn't be much of a holiday, that's assuming I could get there and back.
My cancellation dates for each element, and there are many, start in mid April so I'll formally decide then. Money will be lost but that's life.

OnGoldenPond · 14/03/2020 13:17

Was booked to go stay with DM at her home in Murcia Region, Spain on 1st April. Wasn't worried as only 27 cases recorded in whole region to date. However, her town is now in lockdown to keep out Madrid residents traveling down to their holiday homes and all routes into town are closed. So I've rebooked for late May, hope things will have eased up by then.
