Will you cancel holiday plans this summer?

Summer is a popular time for many families to go on holiday. But will you cancel this summer due to uncertainty regarding the virus and possible cancellations?

We're supposed to be flying to Sardinia at the end of June. I'm due to pay the balance (3.5k Confused) in a couple of weeks and am really dragging my heels over it.
Annoyingly I can't access my travel insurance docs online at the moment due to a glitch in the website, so am unable to check if we will be covered. If we're not or the situation is unclear then I think we will have to cancel and lose the £800 deposit

Backtoreality1 · 12/03/2020 14:02

Off to Lanzarote in a couple of weeks and can not wait! Absolutely no way I am missing this unless the company cancel. UK summer holiday so that shouldn't be a problem.....don't know why anyone would cancel they are having over here.

Hingeandbracket · 12/03/2020 14:03

Booked already no plans to cancel. Only going about 50 miles up the road though.

DingleberryRose · 12/03/2020 14:03

Hell no, I’m fact I’m making additional plans as so many flights are now rock bottom prices and places won’t be overrun with parents and children! Grin

Deadringer · 12/03/2020 14:04

We are going to the Netherlands in July. I took on a second job to pay for this holiday and it's the first time my whole family will be going away together. My DD is travelling (hopefully) from the other side of the world to join us. A lot can happen before then, the situation can improve or get a lot worse but we will be going unless we are forced not to.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 12/03/2020 14:27

@Charlottejade89 Kefalonia is incredible, you are going to have such a gorgeous time there!

We've booked a fortnight in Croatia and will see how things go; I wouldn't cancel the holiday unless we had advice from the FO to do so.

timeforawine · 12/03/2020 14:32

Nope i'm going unless not allowed by Government etc

Hobbesmanc · 12/03/2020 14:34

We have a few days in the Lakes with friends and their kids for Easter- it's a self contained lodge so I think we will be going. We then have a amazing road trip booked in June for a milestone birthday in California. Less sure of that as we can cancel and get most of the money back at the moment

Tighnabruaich · 12/03/2020 14:39

We're booked for Mallorca middle of May. I'm in two minds, but I think the airport and the plane will be more dangerous than the island itself.

thecatsthecats · 12/03/2020 14:48

We have worldwide travel insurance and book everything on a credit card.

We'll book as usual, and follow travel advice as required. We'll isolate afterwards if necessary.

(we've signed up for alerts for Eurovision tickets and expect this may be cancelled, but there was a big wave of resale tickets becoming available at the point it was declared a pandemic)

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 12/03/2020 15:00

Going nowhere. We hadn’t booked anything and won’t now.

ritzbiscuits · 12/03/2020 15:02

Going through the process of cancelling elements our Italy holiday in June. Will just be the flights we'll lose money on but a good chance they could be cancelled anyway.

Booked a short break to Denmark in August and UK break in Oct. For now I'm hoping they'll go ahead.

Goatymcgoaty · 12/03/2020 15:04

We’re off to France in 3 weeks! Or not. Waiting until the last possible minute before we give up and cancel.

HighlyUnlikely · 12/03/2020 15:08

Going to Spain for last two weeks of April. Waiting to see if flights are cancelled by then. If not, we’re off!

CustardySergeant · 12/03/2020 15:09

My holiday next year was cancelled 2 days ago (by the company). I don't mind. Quite frankly I'll be happy just to survive till then (am old).

gabsdot45 · 12/03/2020 15:17

We're supposed to be going to Mexico in April, Flights are via Canada and returning via the US.
Unless our flights get cancelled, we'll go. I think they probably will be cancelled though.
Hopefully our travel insurance will cover the 3.5K we've spent on the tour we booked.

Findawaytobehappy · 12/03/2020 16:40

No. We are booked to go to a centreparcs though.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 12/03/2020 16:43

No holiday planned for this year. Hopefully the weather will be nice and sunny so I can relax on my steamer chair in the back garden.

Vagndidit · 12/03/2020 16:44

We always back to my home country (USA) for several weeks each summer. Still hopeful we can go but honestly haven't booked flights yet...

Northernsoullover · 12/03/2020 16:46

Yes. Going in July so hope it will be on the wane by then. You do sound like a journo though!

Subeccoo · 12/03/2020 17:02

Thailand for July and August. I'm a teacher, so nothing stopping me unless yknow, we literally can't go.

Isthistrueor · 12/03/2020 17:07

No, we’re just carrying on like normal.

CherryPavlova · 12/03/2020 17:07

No. We go to our boat in France so are quite isolated on there and then to our cottage, with lots of sea air and away from crowds. I’d think carefully if we’d been planes or heading somewhere crowded.

bananaskinsnomnom · 12/03/2020 17:10

America in October. Hopefully it will have died down by then but TBH I’ll only not go if there’s no planes and we are literally locked in the country.

PineappleDanish · 12/03/2020 17:11

We're supposed to be going away to America last weekend in June. FIngers crossed.
