OH is lovely, wonderful caring attitude and fantastic with my DD

Anyway, he has a picture of his mum above our bed. We’ve been living together for 4 years now, and it makes me really uncomfortable 😂
I adore MIL, she’s a lovely lady and we have a fantastic relationship, it just makes me feel uneasy when we are ‘doing stuff’ that I can see a picture of her looking at me.
It’s a lovely photo, would love to have it in our lounge or kitchen...

AIBU to suggest to DP that maybe we could relocate MIL? Want to raise the issue but not cause offense 😬

And yes I have done loads of rearranging and decorating in 4 years but our bedroom is the last thing and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t being unreasonable with the photo.

To be honest.. DP will more than likely be as horrified as I am, he wouldn’t have noticed as men are like that. I like the idea of MIL holding up score cards after next time we DTD though

Get a pic of your mum transferred onto mirror tiles and affix them to the ceiling over your bed. Make sure he's looking upwards next time you DTD.

That's fucking weird. I don't know why but I got an image of the photo in my mind and all I can see is a smirking Mrs Hyacinth Bucket in a photo frame looking down on the two of you 😁 I have spent a lazy day at home though binge watching 'Keeping Up Appearances'.

I'm relieved that there's nick nacks and other things surrounding the photo... At first I was imagining a plain white room, with just a double bed and a gigantic canvas of MIL looming over it, with her eyes looking down approvingly

Yes. DH didn't like my dad's ashes on the dressing table. Didn't feel right to have him in the wardrobe so I put him on the sideboard in the dining room. He died in 2001 and since about 2005 I've put a hat from a cracker on the urn every Christmas and we happily raise our glasses to him

I nearly KILLED myself laughing after I treated family photos at my mothers house to several sets.

Lovely blue eyeshadowed ones on the picture of the long dead dog were THE best. Although the slightly cross eyed ones on my niece were a very close runner up.

I'd play a game of mind fuck just for the laugh😂😂😂. Print off a photo of your dad and stick it to the ceiling looking down at you. See how he likes it😂😂.

Then probably have the adult conversation about how you'd prefer the pic moved to a different location. 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Replace it with a picture of any of the following:
Padre Pio
Jesus
Mary
The Holy Family

Keep it in the same picture frame.

See if your other half notices the different picture

If not, move MiL 😆

You should get photos printed on pillows, duvet sheets - life sized cut out in the corner/ really make a theme of it.

My DH absolutely refuses to have pictures of anyone at all in the bedroom (bar one of our wedding).

4 years?? I read thinking like this was a 6 month thing (and even then). I'd just move it and if DH had ever noticed (use to move loads of stuff in his flat anyway haha) would of told him why 😂
