To not pay for McDonald’s - live thru drive thru.

I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes and I’ve just got to the bit to place an order. There was two cars before me ordering food.

I’ve had a fairly good day - I thought I’d treat myself. It’s going to be ages before I even get to the part of paying. I can’t back out as there’s cars behind me.

You what now?

Rhubarbpeony · 10/03/2020 20:10

If you go ahead and order it, you have to pay for it. They don’t guarantee you speedy service through the drive thru. Hopefully it won’t be too long now.

justgivemewine · 10/03/2020 20:15

Well all the drive throughs I’ve been to take payment before you get food so if you don’t want to order then just don’t, but if you order then don’t pay don’t expect to get any food. 🤷‍♀️

CoffeeRunner · 10/03/2020 20:18

Well you’re stuck in the queue now anyway.

So you may as well get something 🤷🏻‍♀️.

QuestionableMouse · 10/03/2020 20:22

You're being unreasonable.

Last time we had a wait on DT that long, a staff member had had a fall and injured themselves.

QuestionableMouse · 10/03/2020 20:25

Or the till could be down.

It happens sometimes and there's not much you can do apart from phone IT to reboot them.

JenNtonic · 13/03/2020 11:33

All I want to know is if and what you're ordering? 🤤

QuestionableMouse · 13/03/2020 11:36

This was posted three days ago. Even the slowest queue should be gone by now 😂😂😂

I tend to get a QP only cheese and sauce, fries, coke zero and a malteeser flurry. Only once a week at work though 😆😂

BarbaraofSeville · 13/03/2020 11:46

Bloody Hell QM, 'only' once a week?

That's akin to living on junk food and being solely responsible for the obesity crisis, and probably coronavirus too, according to MN. How can you live with yourself?

I haven't had McD for ages, and I thought about having it the other day, but then I read something about the monopoly game starting again soon, so I think I'll wait for then, because I always end up going a few times for the vouchers even though I only ever seem to win food that I don't like.

Flippetydip · 13/03/2020 11:53

YWBU for even entertain eating a McD let alone sitting in a car to get it.

If you must eat that over-processed, environmentally catastrophic food at least park in the car park, get out, walk in, order it, walk out again. At least it mitigates some of the horrific amount of pointless calories.

It's NEVER worth the wait. Next time, buy a decent burger from the butcher, go home and cook it - the wait will be less, it will be far better food and will at least taste of something.

awakewiththebirds · 13/03/2020 11:58

@QuestionableMouse ur order sounds amazing

Rhubarbpeony · 13/03/2020 11:58

Imagine thinking a McDonald’s burger is environmentally catastrophic then advising that instead they get... another beef burger!

BarbaraofSeville · 13/03/2020 12:03

But but but, the beef that McDs use is special rainforest destroying beef that magically contains more calories than the same food from any other supplier.

At least this thread proves the point I was making the other day, that the mere mention of McDonalds brings out all the rabid haters, unable to give a rational explanation why it's so much worse than any other fast food.

Somanysocks · 13/03/2020 12:04

Hate drive thru's (sic). They are for lazy people who can't get off their backsides and walk anywhere.

In my area they cause traffic jams as all the places are situated just off main roads by people queueing for ages.

chocolateandpinkgin · 13/03/2020 12:05

Flippetydip you sound really fun Grin

Mlou32 · 13/03/2020 12:07

It's to be expected. We were going to go out for breakfast yesterday for breakfast but because of wanting to socially distance, because of obvious reasons, we decided to get a drive thru. Many others seemed to have the same idea. Be reasonable.

BritWifeinUSA · 13/03/2020 12:07

@Rhubarbpeony that’s MN in a nutshell! The only thing missing was telling her to bulk it up with lentils.

So driving to McDonald’s is environmentally catastrophic but driving to a butcher and then driving home isn’t? Only on MN...

Cacaca · 13/03/2020 12:11

@Flippetydip get over yourself - if she wants to order McDonald’s (or not in this case) there’s nothing unreasonable about that. Sometimes it’s the small simple things like a McDonald’s that make you happy - judgemental idiot.

BarbaraofSeville · 13/03/2020 12:11

Oh, I'd never thought of the social distancing thing. It also means that you touch fewer surfaces that may be contaminated, such as the widely reported as disgustingly filthy touchscreen ordering panels.

At the McDs near my work, you often have no choice but use the drive through as the car park is tiny and often completely full .

QuestionableMouse · 13/03/2020 12:14

@Flippetydip

All McDonald's meat is raised on British or Irish farms. The eggs are free range (unlike my local butcher who only sells caged eggs Hmm)

The chips are made by McCain in Scarborough.

If you haven't been inside a McDonald's for years then you should probably a. Do some research before spouting off utter rubbish or b. Not say anything at on because it's clearly not a subject you know anything about.

Flippetydip · 13/03/2020 12:17

@chocolateandpinkgin - I like to think so Grin

lowlandLucky · 13/03/2020 12:18

Was there a reason you couldn't get out of your car and go into the place and ordered, you must have seen how many cars were in the queue

TurOlive · 13/03/2020 12:19

@Flippetydip

Fuck off, let people eat what they want.

Flippetydip · 13/03/2020 12:20

It's not just the food sources that make it environmentally damaging it's the massive amounts of packaging etc etc.

So, I still think YWBU, but I do take your point that I haven't been inside a McDo's for years - a well-founded accusation.

Flippetydip · 13/03/2020 12:21

@TurOlive - why so aggressive? I'm not stopping people eating what they want, I'm commenting on a thread on a public forum. Don't get your point?
