To not pay for McDonald’s - live thru drive thru.

I’ve been waiting for 15 minutes and I’ve just got to the bit to place an order. There was two cars before me ordering food.

I’ve had a fairly good day - I thought I’d treat myself. It’s going to be ages before I even get to the part of paying. I can’t back out as there’s cars behind me.

Honestly we have really strict cleaning procedures in place. The touchscreens are getting cleaned after each customer (at least in my McDonald's)

So all of the packaging is cardboard. Cups and lids can be recycled in store. Lots of the rubbish that can't be recycled is sent to waste to power plants. The used cooking oil is reprocessed into bio fuel for the lorries. All the cardboard boxes are recycled, as is stuff like milk cartons.

It's not perfect but honestly it's not the McDonald's of old with those horrible foam containers.

I always end up going a few times for the vouchers even though I only ever seem to win food that I don't like.

This is deliberate.

They know from your ordering history which food you enjoy eating, and then they carefully select vouchers that they know you won't use.

@QuestionableMouse I'll take your word for it. I guess it's just the scale of it all that horrifies me but I'm obviously in a minority.

My OH had a Mcdonalds the other day , I pinched one of the fries ( I dont eat meat ) bloody awful
I could think of better things to treat myself with tbh

We're out every two hours cleaning the car park and surrounding area. My store does love where you live visits where we go into nearby towns and litter pick but we can't get everything and it's a bit unfair to blame McDonald's for stuff like this that's totally out of their control.

Once people have paid its their property and we can only encourage them to dispose of it properly. 🤷🏻‍♀️

We've given up on the drive throughs as nearly every time they are slow and you end up in an order bay anyway. We now go in and pay at the screens - usually a lot quicker. Ironic that drive throughs have become slower - the only benefit now is if you're lazy and can't be bothered to get out of your car. I think the home delivery orders have had a massive detrimental effect making the whole process far slower as they seem to jump the queue.

How often do they clean their card machines in the drive thru right now?

I got a breakfast wrap earlier and hate using those keypads now, I also had to use one in the chemist shortly afterwards.

This is MUMSnet - drive thrus are a gift for parents. Baby fallen asleep/ will only sleep in the car and you’re hungry or want a coffee - quietly get something from drive thru. Driving somewhere and got young kids you’d need to wrestle in and out of car seats to get quick bite... drive through and avoid it!

Exactly. The area around our McDonalds is very clean, we are not scruffy gits round here.

Get the app, order on the way and check in as you get there. No need to queue at all, just wait for your number and pick it up.

They're sanitised once an hour minimum.

Had a guy break down at one of the order windows at our local the other day - trying to get everyone to cooperate to reverse out of the lane one at a time, while stopping others joining onto the queue was an interesting experience.

My bastard local has ran out of cheesy bacon flatbreads all week though - I am not a happy bunny!

@Gingerkittykat I'm guessing it was under £30? So use contactless. Alternatively, don't stick your fingers in your mouth after paying?

@jarjarjam ... yes! Love a hot cup of coffee (from drive-thru) while toddler sleeps - bliss. Or a a quick food p/u with 3 kids still strapped in their seats - yes please.
Also - I order on my phone - app and pay so don't have to touch any screens/pay things - bonus.
