To think DH is over reacting?

We were watching a news story about a Whale that had been spotted somewhere it had no business being and then they turned to a young kid who had witnessed it and said something about “12 year old Max is worried”. They then went on to interview Max.

DH threw a cushion at the TV and told Max to shut up Hmm I told him to stop it so he shouted “fucking Max and his importance” Confused anyway he’s gone on about it ever since, keeps telling people about it (always exagurates it) and everytime something is on the news he shouts “but what would Max think??” And often throws a cushion. He won’t say why it’s annoyed him so much but won’t stop going on about it. AIBU to think ok it was a bit of an over reaction at the time and now he’s just being weird and should forget about it?

I love your DH.

GiraffeandPellyandme · 08/03/2020 14:17

It's the Greta effect.

I'm sick of Greta. She's a child. She has no scientific facts, theories or solutions. She just rants.

I'd really welcome some sensible reporting, from both sides.

I can see where he is coming from with this. Although I'd not throw cushions....

RUOKHon · 08/03/2020 14:18

How embarrassing and odd. Are you intending to keep having sex with him?

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 08/03/2020 14:21

Buy him one of these, OP and tell him he can were it now and it’ll save him constantly asking. 😁

*wear 😳

Confusedasusual78 · 08/03/2020 14:21

This made me 😂😂😂fucking Max.

Confusedasusual78 · 08/03/2020 14:23

The people taking it very seriously are making me laugh more. Isn’t it sort of a joke 🤷‍♀️I don’t think there’s any ‘Deeper’ issues at play here, it’s okay 👌

boireannach · 08/03/2020 14:29

in 2017 Ulrika Jonsson reached the final of Celebrity Masterchef, this was after she served RAW, yes bloody RAW, Lamb !!!!!! I'm still furious
Angry

My OH and I were watching a foodie show on cheese production yesterday and the ‘expert’ described the smell of a cheese as ‘farmyardy’ and ‘sheepy’. We have been obsessed since then, describing all manner of household items in similar terms to our great amusement.

This is my new thing! Thank you. I think I might exclude my shitty toilet though.

Confusedasusual78 · 08/03/2020 14:31

LTB

Firsttimelottie · 08/03/2020 14:32

Sounds like it's become a private joke to me Smile

QueenOfOversharing · 08/03/2020 14:36

My favourite line of your OP though is about how a whale was spotted "somewhere it had no business being" 😂 that phrase has really tickled me. Was it in your local M&S? Sat in your office typing at your computer when you got to work? On the london eye?

😂

I see the armchair psychiatrists are out in force this morning 🙄. Must be amazing to be able to diagnose mental illness with such utter certainty, with zero formal training! You should all volunteer to work for the NHS , god knows mental healthcare needs all the help it can get at the moment. Or stop talking shit.

This times a googillion.

I, like others (who haven't jumped to huge conclusions) think your DH is fucking hilarious, and I second the PP suggestion of Gogglebox.

myidentitymycrisis · 08/03/2020 14:39

I think this is hilarious, and am already adopting "Fuck Max" "what would max think/say?"

Sorry if you think your DH is being a dick though

Grandmaok · 08/03/2020 14:46

I think it all depends on whether he was joking or deadly serious /properly incensed by Max. I sense from your post though that he is genuinely angry. Can you ask him why he feels so strongly? Yep lecturing children can be a PITA and Greta Thunburg’s perma-scowl and tellings off do get my back up but real anger is a disproportionate response imo.

myidentitymycrisis · 08/03/2020 14:47

I want a link to the Max interview please?

QueenOfOversharing · 08/03/2020 14:51

I was hoping for Max here, but I can't tell just from his bucket action...

WARNING - the whale isn't 'quite' dead in the video in this article.

QueenOfOversharing · 08/03/2020 14:52

And, yes. Yes I am googling whale beach Max, thank you very much.

Grandmaok · 08/03/2020 14:53

Also whales do need to be mindful of entering spaces they have no business being in. Tesco Express, Zumba class in village hall, leisure centre pools, library, PTA meetings, sealife parks etc = not whale appropriate. Estuaries, reservoirs, Scarborough at low tide = very risky indeed, enter at your peril. Oceans = generally fine.

Jux · 08/03/2020 15:03

I do talk to the tv, always have, always will. Generally whatever emotion has been triggered by some minor thing doesn't last and certainly doesn't really transfer itself beyond the tv.

The thing that is provoking extraordinary ire in me atm is that bloody Just Eat ad. No, nobody said "just eat" I yell as I mute the box. The awful music by numbers scraped up from the absolute dross of the 70s is even worse than that opening sentence.

If you were to mention it, yes, I would react in unreasonable and irrational choler and outrage. It would not, however, be frightening, it would be ridiculous and everyone around me would be laughing at my idiocy. In fact, that is what happened when dh asked why I hated that ad so much and I told him Blush

hellcarryingahandbag · 08/03/2020 15:07

Is he prone to a fit of the vapours? He sounds very highly strung, maybe look into horse tranquillisersGrin

QueenOfOversharing · 08/03/2020 15:11

My DS was studying media at school & the benefit of this was his non-stop commentary & critique of every little fucking thing on tv.

"That's not believable!"
"As iiiiiiif he'd say that!"
"Have you noticed they're all wearing red in their outfits?"
"Ughhhhhh I hate Olivia fucking Benson, she's the fucking worst... why do you watch this shit?"

The SVU slander was his hill to fucking die on. Banned from the living room until he could be reasonable or STFU! I actually told his media teacher I was very unhappy.

PlanDeRaccordement · 08/03/2020 15:33

The throwing cushions is very strange. But being angry about the exploitation of children by the media is not an overreaction in my opinion.

QueenOfOversharing · 08/03/2020 17:13

Is it wrong that I want to NC to "ButWhatWouldMaxThink"?

suggestionsplease1 · 08/03/2020 18:16

Sorry this is hilarious 😂
