To no longer want my evening alone

chellochello · 07/03/2020 20:26

So this is probably the 1st weekend evening I've had alone in about a year - my 2 older kids are sleeping at friends, my youngest is fast asleep in bed and my DH is on a rare boys night out. I've been soo looking forward to this night thinking I'll have a little glass of wine and watch some grown up telly and enjoy me own company for a bit. However now I'm all on my own I don't know what to do with myself and find I'm sitting watching Ant and Dec feeling a bit sorry for myself with a cup of tea instead - anyone recommend anything I can watch to cheer myself up?

OP posts:

Headphones, some good music and a glass of whatever takes your fancy!

Namechangexyz1 · 07/03/2020 20:29

I spend every weekend alone.

I'm utterly miserable.

I'd love for it to be once in a while.

My dp is on holiday, ds1 is working then staying at his dads and ds2 who was staying at a friends is now in his bedroom on the Xbox. Me? I’m on MN and drinking Vimto (it’s red so I can pretend), then I’m getting in the bath in a bit then I may start a new book I had for my birthday (but will probably stay on here all night).

Funny isn’t it, how you long for a peaceful evening, then when it comes you crave the chaos!

Theresnobslikeshowbs · 07/03/2020 20:31

fiddledefiddle no need to be like that

ecuse · 07/03/2020 20:32

I think it's a bit mean to piss on her chips TBH. Sorry if you two up there are lonely but surely you can imagine a scenario where people who never get it might enjoy some alone time? Hmm

OP: wine, chick flick, takeaway. Enjoy!

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 07/03/2020 20:33

I watch call the midwife when my DH is out cos he doesn't like it. Tea sounds nice. Tea and biccies or other foods everyone else doesn't like.

Verily1 · 07/03/2020 20:33

I hate being on my own- I have a low boredom/ loneliness threshold.

But never getting alone time is also wearing!

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 07/03/2020 20:37

I have a night alone too OP I love it!

I've had a bath & now sat on ASDA with chips & dips, a huge bar of galaxy caramel & beer... was watching Joker but have just put it off 30 minutes in as it's a load of shite so now looking for something else to watch

@tenlittlecygnets did that little outburst make you feel good about yourself.

fartyface · 07/03/2020 20:51

I know what you mean op, I get like this too.

I am not alone tonkght but I am bored. The Internet is exceptionally dull at the moment and noone is planning anything interesting at all.

Like holiday.

BooFuckingHoo2 · 07/03/2020 20:52

@YesIDoLoveCrisps I have reported your post - vile thing to stay

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 07/03/2020 20:52

DP was out most of the afternoon until about 6.30, so this is what I did:

Made a big pot of chilli - some for the freezer, some we had earlier with tacos for dinner
Had a wardrobe clear-out, and tried some outfits on to try and make up new combinations because I am on a shopping ban
Had a LONG bath, book, facemask, chocolate, Diet Coke
Painted my toenails
Groomed the cat (not a euphemism, she is white, and casting terribly just now)
Emailed my elderly aunt

Northernsoullover · 07/03/2020 20:53

farty I'm going on holiday (I hope)

OhCaptain · 07/03/2020 20:53

Jesus Christ! Leave her alone!

Are all of you feeling better about yourselves now?

@chellochello stick on Netflix and binge watch something that you know nobody else would watch with you! 😂

Order a takeaway and just overindulge Wine

Littleshortcake · 07/03/2020 20:54

I am on my own five nights a week but I don't mind. I have a bath. Watch a movie. Use my lumea hair remover Grin. Read or Marie kondo or batch cook. Loads and loads to do.

Watching ant and Dec is probably what has made you fed up. There was a couple who had a kiss for a chance to win a seat on the holiday (I watched for five mins and turned off( it was cringe. Even ant was cringing.

fartyface · 07/03/2020 20:54

I need a caravan to go on holiday and noooooone is selling.
We were planning on being away this weekend and I want that

RoryGillmoresEvilTwin · 07/03/2020 20:55

I understand op but I also get where some others are coming from.
I feel like this a lot of the time. In the day I'll be really looking forward to a quiet evening, as a ft student/lone parent my days are generally very long and busy, but then when it comes I'm bored and quite lonely.
I should add, this is my every night. Look on the bright side. Tomorrow evening you won't be alone.

22Giraffes · 07/03/2020 20:56

Wow you're getting a hard time! Not nice at all. OP I would watch a crime drama/ documentary with some nice snacks and a snuggly blanket. Enjoy your evening Smile

OhCaptain · 07/03/2020 21:00

Really?! You get where others are coming from on Chat when someone made a harmless post about being a bit bored?

Wow.

YesIDoLoveCrisps · 07/03/2020 21:00

If you are reporting me then report all the nasty ones to the OP. All she did was say she’s a bit bored on her own and people have been outright mean!
