How often do you drink alcohol?

Poptart4 · 07/03/2020 14:19

I drink 4 nights a week.

Sometimes I'll have just 1 or 2 drinks to unwind after a long day, sometimes abit more (weekends).

Just curious to see where I stand compared to everyone else?

Just Friday and Saturday night really

calmama · 07/03/2020 14:21

At the moment about the same. Though maybe a bit less.

TiredMum10 · 07/03/2020 14:21

once in a blue moon. Seriously the only time I like to have something is out and usually a glass of wine is enough for me. I always thought the actual taste of alcohol is horrid regardless so that's always put me off. Dh will have a drink once in a while, and that too it's just one or two.

MrsL2016 · 07/03/2020 14:22

Once a week, maybe twice. 1-2 drinks. It used to be a lot more when I was younger but I have a young child and just don't fancy it and also drive most places.

csigeek · 07/03/2020 14:22

Maybe 5 or 6 times a year

ParkheadParadise · 07/03/2020 14:24

We usually have 1 every night. At the weekend we will open a bottle of wine with dinner, then go on to have several glasses of brandy for me, whisky for DH.

fiddledefiddle · 07/03/2020 14:25

2-3 times a week, school holidays only.

AnneLovesGilbert · 07/03/2020 14:25

About once a month.

RoseyLentil · 07/03/2020 14:26

Once or twice a month but really only when I go out. I’ll have a cocktail and dinner with a couple of glasses of wine. Dh has a 4 pack of beers over the course of the weekend.

BalanchineBallet · 07/03/2020 14:26

I drink one bottle of wine spread across the week. If we have company, I’ll drink more wine with them.

So that’s a very small glass a night, or three large glasses.

kissmelittleass · 07/03/2020 14:27

Similar to you.. four nights a week but only one drink each time

Cheerbear23 · 07/03/2020 14:27

Once or sometimes twice a week.
I don’t like the sluggish feeling the next day so I’ve been trying alcohol free beers.

youareatwatadmitit · 07/03/2020 14:29

There are two mornings that I drive a lot earlier than usual so I don't have any at all the previous evenings (tues & thurs, for instance)
Other nights I might have 1 or 2, but not all the time.
Friday & Saturday probably definitely, but I never have more than three if I'm staying in the house.

Honeybee85 · 07/03/2020 14:31

I rarely drink maybe once per month.
I don’t like many alcoholic beverages though I enjoy a glass of nice red wine.

ForestYeti · 07/03/2020 14:34

Only if I’m out socialising which is about once every 4-5 months

PardonWhat · 07/03/2020 14:36

5 nights a week probably. But most of those will be a glass.
Maybe once a fortnight or so I’ll drink 1.5/2 bottles.

Icecreamdiva · 07/03/2020 14:38

I used to drink every day. I’ve cut back to 3/4 nights a week and feel much better for it.

Scbchl · 07/03/2020 14:39

Only ever a Saturday either weekly or fortnightly.

My grandpa was an alcoholic, my mum and stepdad are, my nana is and my sister is. So I dont want to get into the habit of having one or two in the week. Then it increases to more than that and more than one night a week. So we only ever drink at an event like a wedding etc or on a Saturday. In the last month I have drank twice and wont tonight as I have a cold.

HelloDulling · 07/03/2020 14:41

Maybe 2 or 3 nights a week. DH currently not drinking, so I’m drinking less than I used to.

OverByYer · 07/03/2020 14:42

Every Friday, Saturday evening. Sometimes with dinner on Sunday.

PancakesNWaffles · 07/03/2020 14:42

Friday nights I almost always have a couple of glasses of wine and usually a couple of G&T or V&Ts.

Sometimes Saturday, too, but less so for the last few months.

I don’t drink in the week unless on a rare occasion I go out for dinner or a social event.

limpbizkit · 07/03/2020 14:43

Never but then I'm sober alcoholic Grin when I was drinking I'd binge. So nothing some weeks then it'd creep up from a bottle of wine one night to bottle of wine several times in a month. Self imposed limits never worked. Anyway my story is all a bit boring. Really grateful I don't need alcohol today. I'd say its not about how much you're drinking but how it makes you feel afterwards and how easily you can stop once started. If you drink 5 nights a week and you're drinking a couple of glasses per time and you feel fine and you're not neglecting you're responsibilities and you can stop once started then carry on as you are. Doesn't matter where you fall in comparison to others

LittleBoyJuly2020 · 07/03/2020 14:45

I'm 37 amd the last time I drank was when I was 15 and trying Lambrini wine for the first time. I was very sick haha.
Never had a drink since. Don't like the smell and just never felt inclined to drink really.

DrManhattan · 07/03/2020 14:47

None.
Makes me feel like $hit

Runningonempty84 · 07/03/2020 14:47

Never, now.

Previously, maybe 5-6 glasses of wine a week. Say 2 glasses on a Friday, two on a Saturday and a couple more elsewhere. More if I had an "event" or social occasion. I thought that was ok as it was below the 14 units a week the NHS say won't harm your health.
I'd completely normalised that level of drinking as it was average among my friendship group.

Took me a while - maybe six months of being completely dry - to realise that no, it's not normal to drink that much and yes, I feel far better without it...
