I’m not talking about food/drink.

It doesn’t really matter what it is (I also don’t want to be too identifiable)

Of course it bloody matters. For all the reasons stated above.

JasonBrun · 06/03/2020 18:50

Oh fgs. How identifiable can it be? Was it your passport?

TyrionsNextWife · 06/03/2020 18:51

If you’re this secretive at work, they probably had no idea it was yours.

Oakmaiden · 06/03/2020 18:51

I think the consensus is "it depends". Without more information you aren't going to get a better answer.

Your desk is not your personal property, so it isn't like going into your handbag and throwing something away.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 06/03/2020 18:51

It does marrer.

Old pen/broken stapler/random bit of worn out stuff, fine. Framed picture of children, not fine.

feathermucker · 06/03/2020 18:51

Do we have to follow the clues to guess the item?

Again, it is impossible to say without context or the item!!!!

Booberella9 · 06/03/2020 18:51

Identifiable.. yes you are OP. Your DH hobby is cycling, you have 2 DC and your mum is Sharon.

Nah come on just tell us what it was!

Nanny0gg · 06/03/2020 18:51

If it's on your desk and there is no hotdesk situation, why are they touching stuff on your desk?

Doggodogington · 06/03/2020 18:51

Yawn. Nobody can say yes or no until you say what it is. Tissues? Dirty mag? Hand cream? Mug?

yourestandingonmyneck · 06/03/2020 18:52

Oh for gods sake, who knows. No one can possibly answer that, get a grip.

lyralalala · 06/03/2020 18:52

Was your colleague responsible for clearing desks?

Where DH works they must have a clear desk at night. They get two warnings and then anything left on their desk is binned.

HappyHammy · 06/03/2020 18:52

If its not work related why was it on your desk. Doesnt it also depend on the circumstances of why it was thrown away and who chucked it.

fallfallfall · 06/03/2020 18:53

I once threw out a colleagues FAN which certainly didn’t meet work safe standards ( you needed to give it a push using a pencil to get the blades started).
I did however order a new one for the office using a special workplace account. No one was out of pocket, it did take a few weeks to come in.

BreconBeBuggered · 06/03/2020 18:53

You'd better spill, OP, unless you want this to turn into a thread full of silly guesses.
Was it a signed picture of you and Nigel Farage?

vodkaredbullgirl · 06/03/2020 18:53

Was it your favourite smelling rubber.

MerryGrinchmas1 · 06/03/2020 18:53

If you are not prepared to say what it is, then yes. They are allowed to throw it in the bin.

If you are prepared to say what it is, then perhaps you will get some reasonable answers!

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 06/03/2020 18:54

Facebook is that way >>>>>

donquixotedelamancha · 06/03/2020 18:54

that’s not rubbish, food, drink, nothing perishable, not offensive, homophobic, racist or sexist

Yes but a life sized cardboard cut out of David Hasslehoff is a bit distracting.

I think the consensus is "it depends". Without more information you aren't going to get a better answer.

Nah, this way is more fun. One of us will get there.

AfterSchoolWorry · 06/03/2020 18:55

A dead plant?

donquixotedelamancha · 06/03/2020 18:56

OP I understand you are upset that they threw away your favourite pen, but I think you were asking for trouble naming it Brian, let alone holding the wedding ceremony.

Soubriquet · 06/03/2020 18:56

Identifiable my ass Hmm

I didn’t know you owned the only desk in the world

I did say yanbu but nope I’m changing it to YABU now cos it’s daft

NoveltyFunsy · 06/03/2020 18:56

YES THEY CAN BIN IT

as we have no idea what the heck you are talking about,

GiveHerHellFromUs · 06/03/2020 18:57

Was it one of them fucking stupid 'bullshit' buttons or them knob-end 'ring for tea' bells?

conduitoffortune · 06/03/2020 18:57

If you are as annoying in real life as your post on here is then yes, they were justified

vodkaredbullgirl · 06/03/2020 18:57

Come on i got to go to work soon and i will be thinking what it is all night.
