I'll start:
-large bodies of water (hate swimming)
-those moving walkways at airports (?!)
-large taps/plug holes

Harbours and bison

PixieDustt · 05/03/2020 22:08

And anything like a whole chicken/wings etc just because you can see it's an animal 🙄

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 05/03/2020 22:10

Electricity pylons
Wind turbines
Cooling towers
Anything 'big electric' like substations ( the one nr to spaghetti junction M6 south side....can't look at it)

Not phobia in the sense that I fear them but stickers making me feel repulsed, sick, shaky and unclean all at once Hmm it’s the most embarrassing bizarre thing but I cannot cope with them.

I discovered that dh had been sticking some for some time to a not easily seen surface in the kitchen and genuinely told him (nicely) I’d leave him if he did anymore.

Chouradanilova · 05/03/2020 22:12

I have the phobia of clothing labels and of stickers on the soles of shoes.

Dentists

DailyKegelReminder · 05/03/2020 22:12

Flys. Not in a hysterical screaming kind of way and not the odd random one, but I once had to go in to a property that had a rotting animal in there Envy and it was like a horror movie big fat horrible flys swarming the place, now when I see them I instantly feel grossed out.

iusedtobecool · 05/03/2020 22:13

Lifts, terrified I’ll get trapped. I’d rather climb 20 flights of stairs. Since having children, I have made myself use them if I’m out and I have the buggy with me. If it’s a small cramped dark lift with no mirror, then I genuinely wouldn’t be able to get in it.

Nuns. No idea why but they scare me

1Morewineplease · 05/03/2020 22:25

Open stairs
See-through bridges/walkways
Downwards escalators ( please refer to current thread where OP rages against people using lifts.)
Motorways
Wide open spaces
Egg shells that haven’t been smashed, in case the witches escape... ( I know :(( )
Steps/stairs with no handrail
Large bodies of water

1Morewineplease · 05/03/2020 22:25

And dentists

DefConOne · 05/03/2020 22:26

Animals without legs (snakes, slo woms, slugs, worms, leeches etc)

Ice on the ground. Terrified of falling. Getting to work after a rare fall of snow makes me shake and cry. I end end up clinging to my car in the work car park feeling unable to move.

mintchick · 05/03/2020 22:35

Vomiting and anything vomit related Sad

ChocolateSundayGirl · 05/03/2020 22:40

Finishing a meal. I can be really enjoying what I’m eating but soon as my brain registers I’m near the end I have to stop eating else I fear my throat will close up. Actually spoke to my doctor about this today who offered to refer me to therapy.

Trypophobia my skin is crawling just typing the word!

Princessfaffalot · 05/03/2020 22:43

Cotton wool, felt, shoe laces and particularly the idea of my nails catching on them (gives me goosebumps just thinking about it!). And bananas. Absolutely terrified of them, can’t be in the same room as someone eating one or even just the skin from one.

cannotchange · 05/03/2020 22:43

Being a building with a very high ceiling - have had this for as long as I can remember - forms a part of childhood memories

NewDOOFUSfor20 · 05/03/2020 22:48

Tomato soup. Just thinking about it, like now, gives me palpitations and smelling it gives me instant nausea and a banging headache. I've been known to leave the staff room and eat in the corridor if someone has it for lunch at work.
I can't even watch the advert 😳

Whatever that weird stringy bit is in raw egg whites. Bleurgh.

thenightsky · 05/03/2020 22:58

@DefConOne

Oh I'm another one terrified of slipping over on icy ground. Its been made 10 times worse since I had a hip replacement before Xmas. Sad

EmmiJay · 05/03/2020 23:04

Holes. Giant anything especially water spaces (think oceans). Moths/butterflies/spiders/ants. I don't know if this counts but OCD makes me HATE walking around in winter because of the spit/phlegm, soggy tissues/food on the floor. I actually feel physically sick outside sometimes. I have to take off my coat and shoes outside my front door just to feel like I'm not contaminating my flat. Fucking exhausting.

Butteredtoast55 · 05/03/2020 23:11

I am really amazed at the number of us with submechanophobia and megalophobia around ships. I thought I was the only one and it has always seemed so random. They just terrify me - even seeing one on the horizon miles and miles away can make me break out in a cold sweat.
WARNING: Do not google megalophobia to check the spelling!

WarmSausageTea · 05/03/2020 23:28

Lifts, terrified I’ll get trapped.

I got trapped in a lift once, it was really boring. The worst of it was being there with a colleague who I didn’t like. Luckily, she didn’t like me, either, so we just ignored each other while we waited to be rescued. It was a very long afternoon.

If I’m getting into or out of a lift above the ground floor, I step in/out really quickly, just in case the lift drops suddenly. I know this isn’t entirely rational, but if it saves me being chopped in half lengthways, I’ll carry on doing it.
