I'll start:
-large bodies of water (hate swimming)
-those moving walkways at airports (?!)
-large taps/plug holes

Baby dolls and pubs with flat roofs

I'm loving how disparate some of these phobias are :)

KinderGurl · 05/03/2020 21:39

Not me, my friend is scared of bananas, I think she is bananas 🍌

cricketmum84 · 05/03/2020 21:39

Cotton wool
Another one with escalators. I have vertigo and the movement always makes me feel like I'm going to fall.
Wasps although that's not a weird one
Driving through tunnels
Multi storey car parks

KinderGurl · 05/03/2020 21:40

Oh I forgot to put mine, sitting in 3 door cars in the back!

Squaffle · 05/03/2020 21:41

@Rebellenny I’m with you on the wind turbines. I hate them, especially driving past them. They’re sinister as fuck.

Also wasps... and now reservoir plug holes which have made me come over all peculiar...

LittleSweet · 05/03/2020 21:43

Clowns
China faced dolls
Contamination. Things I think that are unclean touching other things
I have a work surface in the kitchen that I consider unclean. Also where the draining board joins the work surface is unclean. Rationally I know it's clean. I have an issue with different surfaces joining others. Where grass meets the pavement is also unclean. I think it's OCD.

tinierclanger · 05/03/2020 21:43

Another one for submechanophobia, although I didn’t have a name for it before so thanks! I was describing it as “like the sides of big ships in the water”.
Also, waterfalls.

londonloves · 05/03/2020 21:43

Escalators. Pylons. Power stations.

GlennBulb · 05/03/2020 21:44

Ships! Especially docked, and figure heads!
Anything in the sea like bouys!
I come over all over :/

londonloves · 05/03/2020 21:44

Also I have a weird thing about custard.

Sarahlou252 · 05/03/2020 21:44

Bananas 🤮

Meerschweinchen1990 · 05/03/2020 21:44

The feeling of suede, velvet, any very soft fabric - horrible!

Bargebill19 · 05/03/2020 21:45

Carpet and mattress shops. No idea why. But my fight or flight responses go into overdrive if I go inside. Doesn’t happen anywhere else.
Downside is we need a new mattress - and have done for 10 years and I just can’t bear the thought of going in a shop to buy one. Suspect the internet will have to do. Or like the carpet- send DH and hope for the best. Small rugs I CAN buy.

LittleSweet · 05/03/2020 21:45

PricklyPear, I agree with Daddy long leg's flappy legs. I scream with my mouth shut incase they fly in.

GlennBulb · 05/03/2020 21:46

Thank you, previous op's I never knew there was a name for it!

MooseBreath · 05/03/2020 21:47

Saunas and steam rooms
Nail files
Crocodiles and alligators

WarmSausageTea · 05/03/2020 21:50

Not exactly a phobia, but there’s something that completely creeps me out. It’s hard to explain, but it’s being up high and looking at something at the same height, but with nothing underneath it. Like being in the circle at the cinema, and looking forward at a hanging light. It’s something about all the space beneath, just in my peripheral vision, and it makes my stomach drop.

It’s weird, because I don’t mind heights or drops at all.

I had a friend who was scared of spiral staircases. I thought that was a strange one, but apparently it’s not uncommon.

Istical · 05/03/2020 21:51

Taps and showers. If I stay in a hotel using an new shower scares the s**t out of me.

I also have trypophobia, but that's definitely not a fear, just feeling of revulsion at small repeating patterns, holes.....🤮

latheritup · 05/03/2020 21:51

Cotton wool balls Envy

tiredvommachine · 05/03/2020 21:53

Pylons.
Hot air balloons.

Uurgh.

Sparklingbells · 05/03/2020 21:56

Milk and mashed potato Blush

Pricklypear12 · 05/03/2020 21:57

@Istical I'm like that too. I usually get my OH to use it first and show me how it works before I'm comfortabl enough to use it

Submechanophobia (the fear of submerged or semi-submerged manmade objects). Particularly shipwrecks. They give me the heebie-jeebies.

Big ships in general. I'm fine being on them, but don't like seeing the hull of them. I have to close my eyes going on to the cross channel ferry as I can't stand seeing the ship looming over me.

MouthBreathingRage · 05/03/2020 22:01

Bare feet, absolutely revolting. If I made the law, it would be illegal to have sockless feet or not fully enclosed shoes unless washing. Yes, even at home.

Balloons, hate them with a passion. Always just waiting for them to pop.

PixieDustt · 05/03/2020 22:06

Cotton wool (the feel of it) 🤢
I hate small holes. If I see a bunch of holes it freaks me out and makes my bloody body feel numb.
