I'll start:
-large bodies of water (hate swimming)
-those moving walkways at airports (?!)
-large taps/plug holes

Heights, mainly the fear that I will unexpectedly jump! Multiples of animals. I have 6 cats and 2 dogs. The cats creep me out if they are all together looking at me ha ha. Tainted Love by Soft Cell, brings back some awful feelings and I have to leave a room etc. Wet tissue makes me want to vomit. Used chewing gum 🤢 I think that will do for now 🤣

Rubybluesy · 07/03/2020 00:51

Up and down escalators for me, but only the really long ones on the tube...

Beldon · 07/03/2020 08:22

Rats
Spiders
Cotton wool
Anything with gloopy texture such as wallpaper paste or drinks with thickener (problem when I was a carer). 🤮
Teeth at top or bottom of escalators
Heights, mainly when it’s looking down to streets, can’t even look when it’s on film.
Centipedes (as well as a few other creepy crawlies)

recklessruby · 07/03/2020 13:18

Also dentists, doctors, hospitals. I hate the smell and the illness around even when i m ill i wont go.
Ended up losing 4 teeth to abscesses due to it and have a bridge now Sad

hullabaloo68 · 07/03/2020 15:00

Topairy they give me the heebie jeebies

squeekums · 08/03/2020 05:00

Needles, the couldn't even take blood when I was pregnant
Drool, makes me gag
Feet, its why I love shoes, they cover feet
People touching my head, I cut and colour my own hair
Metal on metal, like a spoon on a pot. I leave the kitchen, i only use plastic or wooden utensils when cooking

Solomangrundy · 08/03/2020 05:22

Good thread!!👍

Downward escalators, esp. steep ones.. I want to fall forward all the time
Open stairs - but I’m ok going up them
Anything cigarette based, ashtrays make me heave
Wet fish, dead or alive... I feel sick ... I have to turn my head away in supermarkets & can’t watch them if they’re on tv
Anything sticky and food -related on my hands (honey, jam, syrup, sauce) I cannot settle til I’ve got it off me
Cotton wool when it ‘crunches’
Spit on the pavement... or hearing someone clear their throat to spit🤮

Probably many more if I give it proper thought!

My son has a weird one he’s had since he was a toddler... eyes!! Any eye injury, irritation, eye-related story he’s dry-heaving and his eyes start streaming🤷‍♀️

Solomangrundy · 08/03/2020 05:31

Oooh yes @ Beldon. ... thickener in drinks 🤮🤮 I was also a carer... the texture was just....😱 like frog spawn, vile stuff!
Wood on my teeth - wooden spoons, lolly sticks... had that quirk since I was tiny🤷‍♀️
Anyone eating ‘recognisable’ fish ... trout, sea bass, squid, prawns eel etc - I pick up my plate and move places😳 I went on a date with a guy who ordered octopus - I couldn’t go near him after in case he kissed me and the octopus got me😂!!
The smell of hot plastic or hot metal makes me feel vomity

A08x · 09/03/2020 02:19

@TreadLightly3 me too! It’s horrific. The whole 10,000 balloons trend at party’s is a killer, my whole body ends up in agony due to being so tense lol!

PawPawNoodle · 09/03/2020 02:35

The only particular weird phobias that I have are

  • the thought of biting a sponge cringes
  • the Thomas the Tank Engine theme
ilovedjerrymore · 09/03/2020 06:55

Sand!!! Hated it as a child would cry if we were having a family day out to the beach which we did every weekend! I use to sit on a deck chair and not move! Could be on a beach 8 hours at a time and I would not move! Would sit with long sleeves too and trousers on so it didn’t touch my skin! My poor parents Grin
Now as adult i slightly tolerate it...just! Only because of my child!

Will0wtree · 09/03/2020 16:20

Empty ripped paper packets on dining tables...e.g. those little sachets of sugar or salt lying empty, or the paper tubes that straws from MCDonalds used to come in. Particularly bad if they've gotten damp from a tea spill or something. Makes me feel ill.

Space. Love looking at it from the earth, (love looking at the stars and moon etc), but the idea of being OUT in it freaks me out. It's just too huge and empty. Once did that Google Earth thing where you can keep scrolling out from a map and scroll off of the Earth and out into space. Absolutely terrified me, even though it's just on the computer screen.

DelphicOracle · 09/03/2020 16:27

Cornflour - the THOUGHT of it makes me feel ill
Seed pods that have lots of holes in them (so something that looks like it could have holes all over it - of irregular shapes)
Stairs - any that are really steep like in old houses, I have to go on my bum ! Grin
The thought of anyone touching my bellybutton (not enjoyable at all when I just had to have an operation to take out an ovary and the camera had to go thru my bellybutton)
The thought of being cathertarised (also stressful for last months operation)!
Eating meat on the bone Envy (not envy)

belay · 09/03/2020 16:31

Knives. Plain, functional knives

Sh05 · 09/03/2020 16:34

I don't think I can call mine phobias but I can't stand little bits of stuff like bread crumbs and loose tea, especially if my hands are wet. The black seeds inside a papaya fruit creep me out.
I don't drink tea because of this and have never tried the papaya fruit.
