To ask would you rather move house at 9 months pregnant or with a newborn?

We have to wait till September to move house (150 miles north) as we’ll pay a lower early repayment charge on our fixed rate mortgage and I’m due at the end of that month. But we also have to move before Jan 2021 (the deadline for DD’s school application) so we’ve either got to move when I’m 9 months pregnant or with 1/2 month old.
WWYD?

Pregnant. I moved when my baby was 5days old and after having an emcs, ended up with an open wound due to the move.

Hugtheduggee · 04/03/2020 23:55

Personally, with a newborn. No question about it.

I had tricky pregnancies though which rendered me quite immobile and useless, and so in contrast everything was easier after baby. But from my perspective, I'd have been much more able to do stuff after baby was born, and had loads of time to sort when baby is sleeping.

Pregnant
We did and it was fine. Get packers though.

Watchagotcha · 04/03/2020 23:59

Definitely move while pregnant.

We moved with a 10 week old baby, from NZ to the UK. It was awful, absolutely crap. The hardest thing was trying to pack up an entire house - pack boxes, empty cupboards, sell furniture, clean the place - while needing to care for a bf newborn. All I wanted to do was nest - and instead I had to pull our home apart!! It was utterly shite.

Pregnant unless you can get someone to do the donkey work whilst you look after the baby :)

109% pregnant

Pregnant. I could barely tell my arse from my elbow for a good six months after birth, let alone move house.
I moved at 36 weeks and yes, it was tough, but I was settled in time for the new arrival.

Aussiegirl123456 · 05/03/2020 05:55

Not sure as my last pregnancy was bloody awful. Moved two weeks ago with a 3 week old baby. We moved ourselves too - no help from friends or removal guys and I did the entire bond clean on our house (they're extremely strict in Australia).
I'm just verrrrrrry glad we won't be moving for around 4 months again haha.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 05/03/2020 06:01

With a newborn. We were due to move when I was pregnant but it was delayed and we did it with a 3m old which in hindsight was way easier. I wouldnt have been able to move or lift things when heavily pregnant.

FortheloveofJames · 05/03/2020 12:02

@Hugtheduggee

No guarantee you’ll get one of those babies 1) that is happy to sleep on their own 2) happy to sleep during the day at all Grin

Not all newborns are sleepy little things.

Hugtheduggee · 05/03/2020 12:14

Well no, but you out them in a sling and can get in with it right?
(Well that's what I did anyway).and if it gets you out of some of the heavy lifting (which you shouldn't do preggers either, then fab ;-) )

BlueVeins · 05/03/2020 12:16

Either - but pay for packers - it’s a surprisingly small additional cost on top of other moving costs

Cutesbabasmummy · 05/03/2020 12:23

Pregnant. Couldn't sit down for 6 weeks after the birth due to tear and cut.

20viona · 05/03/2020 12:28

Pregnant 100%
