Not the bloody fridge! Just had to hunt it down in the kitchen for my turkey dinosaurs and it’s in the fridge!

YABU: should be in the fridge
YANBU: someone in your house needs talking to

Cupboard for me.

Fridge for DH.

Depending on who uses it last depends on where it ends up.

Kudos for the turkey dinosaurs by the way. What a banger of a tea!!

BigChocFrenzy · 05/03/2020 00:32

YABU

Fridge once opened

ErrolTheDragon · 05/03/2020 00:34

Fridge, of course.

BigChocFrenzy · 05/03/2020 00:37

Long ago, I always used to keep it in a cupboard after opening,
until one day I squirted some ketchup on my meal ..... and fermenting tomato exploded all over me and the kitchen

LifeIsAPotato · 05/03/2020 03:07

Just saying.. Smile

To think ketchup lives in the cupboard??

Fridge. A b and b owner once told me that they lost marks on a food hygiene inspection because theirs was in the cupboard. It's stuck with me for some reason.

user1480880826 · 05/03/2020 07:03

Why are you eating turkey dinosaurs?

Hagbeth · 05/03/2020 07:11

Cupboard. It’s got vinegar in it. All good. I put mayo or any sauce there too. Grin

BarbaraofSeville · 05/03/2020 07:20

Haha user I did wonder how the OP had managed to get away with admitting to eating turkey dinosaurs without the usual barrage of 'YABU for eating Turkey dinosaurs', I wouldn't feed that fat and salt laden muck to a starving dog if it was the last food on earth', can you even get Turkey dinosaurs any more I thought that twat Jamie Oliver had banned them type comments.

When ketchup was in glass bottles those kept in cupboards could explode.

Aneley · 05/03/2020 07:43

Another one for the fridge if opened.

cactus2020 · 05/03/2020 07:49

Cupboard always, open or closed. Everyone in household fit and well.

BubblyBarbara · 05/03/2020 08:55

It’s like something else that spoils like milk or bacon. Put it in the fridge once opened.

LaurieMarlow · 05/03/2020 09:11

It’s not the slightest thing like milk or bacon. Grin

It’s chock full of preservatives, it’s like vinegar or pickles.

Aneley · 05/03/2020 10:00

Pickles go bad left in a cupboard once opened. Happened to me three times before I learnt my lesson to put them in the fridge.

LaurieMarlow · 05/03/2020 10:50

Mine don’t. I feel like I’m living in a parallel universe on this thread.

Rebmethewrongway · 05/03/2020 10:52

cupboard definitely

Cupboard Grin Always have, always will.

Johnsonsfiat · 05/03/2020 10:56

Ketchup and jam in the fridge is a bit of a mil thing. If she comes to stay, I have to remember they'll not be where I keep them. I hate them both cold, and the clammy feel of the paper wrapper when it's been refrigerated.
Would def keep mayo in fridge tho, and things we don't get through as quickly e.g. mustard.

Devlesko · 05/03/2020 10:57

It says once open store in the fridge, so we do in our house.

apricotnuts · 05/03/2020 11:56

Which just wrote an article recently on where to store condiments. It said this for tomato ketchup:

“What the label advises: Refrigerate once open and eat within eight weeks (Heinz Tomato Ketchup). What the experts say: There’s no need to keep ketchup in the fridge. Not only does it contain vinegar, but tomatoes are naturally acidic, and this helps to preserve the product in ambient (room temperature) conditions. Dr Schenker says: ‘Sometimes people keep ketchup in the fridge, simply because they prefer a chilled taste, but otherwise it doesn’t need to be refrigerated.’
