To use their toilet when I’m cleaning?

Hoohaahoo · 29/02/2020 19:22

I’m a cleaner and often have very full days where I am going from house to house with no break.
I try to keep hydrated but this means I have to use my clients toilet sometimes. I try and use it and then clean it after.

Would you be annoyed by this? Would you want asking first?

What makes you ask, op?

minipie · 29/02/2020 19:43

Oh I see - they were in the house. Yes I can see why that might make you feel awkward but I still think it’s fine.

whyamidoingthis · 29/02/2020 19:44

I assume my cleaner uses the toilet. I expect most people would assume the same.

Hoohaahoo · 29/02/2020 19:45

I used the toilet at a clients house and they were stood outside when I came out. Eyebrows firmly raised but they didn’t say anything about it.

It’s played on my mind all day. This client is quite fussy in general though.
I feel a bit more at ease now, thank you. Was worried I’d be been really disrespectful in the past!

It's only builders that are not allowed to use the loo in someone's house. Wink

Dylaninthemovies1 · 29/02/2020 19:46

I’d be more annoyed if a cleaner was not comfortable to use my toilet to be honest

Who voted YABU and why?!

cstaff · 29/02/2020 19:48

And if anyone if going to leave the loo in good nick it is going to be you.

winniethekid · 29/02/2020 19:48

Of course you are not being unreasonable, you're the one cleaning it for them.

Straycatstrut · 29/02/2020 19:49

I think if the houseowners were in I'd ask just to avoid any awkwardness. I think it's polite to always ask when it's someone elses house.

Iwantacookie · 29/02/2020 19:49

Long as you clean it after you've used it crack on

Itwasntme1 · 29/02/2020 19:50

I would be horrified if my cleaner thought she couldn’t pee in my house, or get a drink.

TheCanyon · 29/02/2020 19:52

I'd let anyone have a pee if they needed to like the postie, delivery driver etc nevermind someone actually working in my house. Odd that they would be so weird about it

Mummyoflittledragon · 29/02/2020 19:52

Really?? That’s odd. I have a cleaner. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to be precious about the loo that they’re cleaning for me... that would make me feel inferior if I were in your position.

pigsDOfly · 29/02/2020 19:53

What do they expect you to do, go and pee in the garden?

Having said that, in your position I would confine my usage to the general downstairs loo, rather than using the loo in their bathroom or en suite.

user32564567 · 29/02/2020 19:57

Yes, know your place and use the tradesmans loo.

Tiredmum100 · 29/02/2020 19:57

I can't see why they would mind you using their toilet. I certainly wouldn't! I work as a community nurse and have on occasion used a patients toilet.

As your employer surely it's their responsibility to provide you with welfare facilities such as toilets!

LaLaLandIsNoFun · 29/02/2020 20:04

Anyone who would have a problem with this does not need to be your client.

GoatyGoatyMingeMinge · 29/02/2020 20:05

What sort of weirdo would have a problem with their cleaner using their loo for it's designated purpose.

Maybe you're new around these parts Grin

Squirrelpeanutbutter · 29/02/2020 20:06

I can't actually believe anyone would be unhappy about this.

Hoohaahoo · 29/02/2020 20:08

You would be surprised at some people and what they expect from a cleaner squirrel. It’s been eye opening for me anyway.
Most people are lovely but you do get the odd few that really look down on you.

OP posts:
RUOKHon · 29/02/2020 20:08

Your client sounds like an uptight weirdo.

PointeShoesandTutus · 29/02/2020 20:11

If you are our cleaner - please please use it if you need it! I’d hate to think of anyone being close to a working toilet but feeling unable to use it!
