Eddie Izzard making humanity great again?

Let me start out by saying I haven't been an EI for some time, so I accept my views are biased but is it not hugely narcissistic to claim that by running 28 marathons in 28 days in 28 countries he is doing anything to 'Make Humanity Great Again'?

Yes, it's another great achievement and it is to be applauded that he is raising money for charity but it really leaves a bad taste in the mouth for me and feels like it's primarily about a need for attention and adulation.

Also, I have to admit I have never seen someone previously who felt it was important to wear bright pink lipstick every time they run a marathon.

I think what's probably happened is that he came out as trans and you actually dislike him for that. Even if that's not true it'll be the thing that 99% of the replies to this thread slate him for.

gallgal you are aware of his massive turnaround though aren’t you? He used to challenge sexist stereotypes, now he upholds them. Shame really.

'When the world was sane' is quite a strange thing to say, unless you have firsthand experience of being trans. It may have felt sane to YOU.

As I said, he has raised over a hundred thousand pounds for UNICEF. I have no issue with his slogan because it doesn't marginalise anybody (unlike most of the comments here)

On the rest, he says he has girl genetics and boy genetics.

Raising vast amounts of money for charity is no signifier of anything as Jimmy Savile reminds us. I’m actually sorry to bring this up on this thread as it is truly not pertinent to Eddie’s status but I did just want to point that out in response to gallgal

I think what's probably happened is that he came out as trans and you actually dislike him for that.

For me, it was when he told the story about being an adult male in a public ladies toilet and some 13 year old girls challenged him and he made it sound like he was doing nothing wrong and what a poor victim he was having to be confronted with these oh so scary and bigoted teenage girls.

And also when he started perpetuating shite damaging stereotypes by saying that when he looks at a pair of high heels and likes them, that's because of his 'girl genetics'.

Knob.

I much preferred him when he was just a bloke who wore lipstick and painted his nails.
