Eddie Izzard making humanity great again?

Let me start out by saying I haven't been an EI for some time, so I accept my views are biased but is it not hugely narcissistic to claim that by running 28 marathons in 28 days in 28 countries he is doing anything to 'Make Humanity Great Again'?

Yes, it's another great achievement and it is to be applauded that he is raising money for charity but it really leaves a bad taste in the mouth for me and feels like it's primarily about a need for attention and adulation.

Also, I have to admit I have never seen someone previously who felt it was important to wear bright pink lipstick every time they run a marathon.

Is he running from country to country? Otherwise his carbon footprint is going to be on the high side.

InfiniteSheldon · 28/02/2020 17:39

he allegedly verbally abused and reduced to tears to young teenage girls who questioned why a man was in the ladies toilet? Don't care how much money he raises he's no hero.

FrogsFrogs · 28/02/2020 17:39

He chased them didn't he?

Sexykitten2005 · 28/02/2020 17:40

really? Or is EI running 4 miles stopping for breakfast then running a few more before lunch then another break in the afternoon. Real Multi day marathon runners have no interest in what EI doing because EI doesnt do it all in one go on one course. There are at least 4 20in20 marathon challenges going on this year in the U.K. alone and many more being added to the diary in America. This is just adding to climate change

Marginalised middle aged privately educated white man. Yes, we really need to do more to put blokes like him front and centre in our world.

Oh wait

MiniGuinness · 28/02/2020 17:42

Where are there comments marginalising anyone gallgal? Because although his slogan for raising money is fine. His ideology does marginalise women.

SentimentalKiller · 28/02/2020 17:44

I'm not misgendering him. I'm referring to him on the days when his boy genes are active

TheQueef · 28/02/2020 17:44

Self absorbed bollock head and that was before he appeared on QT.

OddBoots · 28/02/2020 17:44

I find it hard to kick someone for trying to bring something positive in whatever way they can. And let's face it, humanity could do with a bit of improvement at the moment, it's not our finest time really, is it?

OddBoots · 28/02/2020 17:50

Oh, and for what its worth Eddie's own website uses male pronouns and talks about his transvestism. I know there was some discussion a couple of years ago but it's a complicated area and none of us is perfect.

Doyoumind · 28/02/2020 17:50

He's happy with any pronouns so no misgendering going on.

OP posts:
pachyderm · 28/02/2020 17:59

I went off him when he called himself a male lesbian and wondered if he could have a relationship with a lesbian. Fuck off Eddie.

Annabel7 · 28/02/2020 19:00

28 marathons in 28 days! Whatever you think of his lipstick/beret/politics - that's pretty bloody amazing. So what if he annoys you? He's made a fortune for charity. How's your week been?

Lordfrontpaw · 28/02/2020 19:06

Running as a woman? - that will be a record breaker they are going for then.

Lordfrontpaw · 28/02/2020 19:08

And I’ve worked for a charity - I’ve raised plenty of money, run fundraisers and supported schemes. Hell, I’ve even helped cook and serve Christmas dinner for local charity groups a few times. When’s my parade?

Bishybarnybee · 28/02/2020 19:14

It's the little sneers that give away the true colours of some people on here. I do believe there is a debate to be had about women's rights and self ID, but when I read the sneering at any attempt to look more feminine - hand gestures yesterday, lipstick today - I want nothing to do with any of it. Just nasty.

Lordfrontpaw · 28/02/2020 19:15

Who attempting to look feminine? What was the issue?

FrogsFrogs · 28/02/2020 19:17

What sort of hand gestures do women use that marks them out as female?

I'm not sure what that means.

FrogsFrogs · 28/02/2020 19:17

Have I missed something on the thread.

I used to really like him, but saw him on an episode of (I think) Question time and he was such a prick, interrupted people, kept on repeating the same thing to he obnoxious. Nope Hmm

Doyoumind · 28/02/2020 19:35

Some projection going on there Bishy? No one has mentioned hand movements.

OP posts:
longearedbat · 28/02/2020 19:39

His worst fault is being an unfunny comedian.

Bishybarnybee · 28/02/2020 19:40

Actually 3 days ago.

Eddie Izzard making humanity great again?
RabbityMcRabbit · 28/02/2020 19:43

Cannot fucking stand him, he had his beret pinched on some outdoor event or other and made a right fuss for the police to investigate it, using precious police resources. Twat.
